Talk about extremes - that was one scary night. Howling winds, tree branches flying and noises on the roof (probably tiles lifting) Reminds me of the UK back in 1987. Off to work soon provided the roads are clear ................. and we have at least another 12 hours of this to go.

WILD winds that lashed the state overnight have creating havoc across Adelaide, leaving 22,000 people without power and sparking a bushfire warning. Emergency service crews are struggling to deal with a large number of incidents, especially in the eastern suburbs. Their signs and road control cones are also being blown over.

The wind has blown out all the windows in the main stadium at Loreto College, littering the ground below with glass and debris. Police are urging drivers to take extra caution on the roads after the winds brought down hundreds of trees and branches overnight, as well as some powerlines.

A police spokesman said the eastern suburbs and foothills had been hit the hardest, but reports had come from all over the state.

Thanks all - the winds have finally died down and no serious damage around us. Lots of trees and large branches down but most houses survived ok. A few places still without power but gradually getting back to normal before the temperatures start to rise again. We got the effects of the tail end of hurricane Dylan which hit the north and east of the country last week.

Glad to know you and your neighbors are OK. Sounds like it was an awful storm.
