Happy Wednesday Folksies!

When I saw the above jpeg, I just KNEW that I was gonna snag it to share with my favorite peeps. I have several of these and yep, they are filled with things like buttons, sewing notions. As a child, both of my grannies used tins for the very same items. Of course, I also have buttons in mason jars, cookie jars. I loves me some buttons. Aw, heckfire shoot, let me tell you the whole truth and nuthin' but the truth . . . I love sewing notions. Period. Gadgets, all sorts of them are crammed into little altoid tins that I paint or embellish. I must have loads of needles, pins, pencils, chalks, rulers, sewing machine feet, lots of bobbins . . . I don't know that I could actually pick an absolute favorite since all are absolutely essential to my personal happiness. I betcha I am not alone here. Besides this, I am also always on the lookout for everyday items to repurpose for my pursuit of keeping my gadgets in.

Yesterday was my day of running around getting caught up on things I was not able to do last week. Like getting a few things to put in my empty cupboards. I thought I might would be able to catch a cat nap, nothing like a nap . . . but it was not to be. I have to work this morning and the rest of the week to yet again, play catch up on my clients who were patiently waiting for color, perms and cuts. It will feel like a family reunion this week! All my favorite ones are in the line up. And each are all my favorites, since I gleaned out all the chaff when I moved. Each work day is a pleasant one. As with any hair dresser, I have some folks that just come in every 6 weeks or so for a freshen up, and it seems this will be the week for that.

I will soon start searching in earnest for a good attorney to handle some of the life threatening snafus that Mom has suffered as a result of erroneous radiology readings. I have been told that bills/laws were passed a few years back concerning damages regarding medical stuff. I would covet some prayer here on this. It is not about the money, folksies, it is about how many others received negative reports when indeed there were things like clots that were there from the beginning. Our local small hospital farms out their radiology to another city and Mom had at least 6 scans and the clots were not seen. I do not believe she should have to be paying for those. Nor should she have to pay for all the other specialists I carried her to when the problem was visible enough for another doctor who was not a radiologist to see upon reviewing her charts. Not acceptable! If you have some advice, feel free to shoot me a pm.

Hoping that everyone has a special day full of pleasant surprises, new found joy in something as simple as being able to take a walk outside or like me, enjoy a fresh cup of coffee while reading this marvelous forum.

SMILE!

Ugh! Don't get me started on medical bills, doctors, how they screw up things! I hope you can find some good help with that problem.

I'm just heading to bed. I have made a dent in the quilting on this project. I just finished a jumbo bobbin and after reloading the machine so it will be ready for me in the AM, I quit. I'm getting punchy, and that is when the mistakes will happen! I really don't have time to frog on this, so some sleep seems like the wisest choice.

Not much else going on around here. I'll catch you all again in a few hours!
Have a great day! Cathy

Morning,

It sounds like we have a yard full of coyotes this morning....they give me the creeps.

I have a long dental appointment today, but if all goes well it may be the last one. Maybe one more appointment for cleaning, but that would be a piece of cake.

Our weather is really cooling off. Our propane tank was filled yesterday, so we are set for most of the winter. It will be interesting to see what kind of winter we have this year. The weather the rest of the year has been so strange everywhere.

I made the sewing room look presentable yesterday and made a large batch of dog food for the Girls. They hung with me in the kitchen while I was cooking, probably hoping I would drop the pan of chicken and they could get dibs on it! Like all dogs, they feel that anything that hits the floor is automatically theirs!

I'm off the feed the Girls and see Jeff off to work...have a great day everyone!

Good morning. Blondie I have no advice but wish you luck on this.

Another work day. This working is cutting into my quilting time. hehehe.

I will start to gather stuff to take to Greg's for the weekend. I will be taking some quilting. I think Saturday it will be just Jersey and I for the day.

Have a great day everyone.

Good morning! Blondie, I also have several cookie and candy tins filled with buttons, thread, whatever will fit inside! Good luck with your legal matters, I hope you find an excellent attorney.

Barb, I hope all goes well at the dentist today. You reminded me that I need to ask DH about our propane. I've lit the pilot on the fireplace and it's just enough to keep the chill away.

Today is my "run around" day....my WW meeting with lunch and shopping afterwards. I'm planning to go to the discount fabric store for backing for another baby quilt and to Tuesday Morning to check on advertised Sizzix Big Shots.

Good morning...

I see a lot of early birds this morning :)

I have a lot of tins and mason jars with "stuff" in them. Buttons and ribbons look real pretty in the jars. I even have a small mason jar with little spools of thread in it.

Not much happening in my little corner of the world, just finishing up some quilts. I need to get some of the tops I have ready or started turned into quilts. I'm almost afraid to start the quilting on that maple leaf log cabin quilt....I think I'm going to SITD and it will take a while to get that one quilted.

Blondie, good luck and hope you find an attorney to help you out. Barb, good luck at the dentist.

Prayers and hugs to those that need/want them. Have a wonderful day!

Morning all. Its chilly here today and I need to order propane, sadly the furnace will be going all to soon. Today is my quilting with the girls day. we are doing a minky and flannel rag quilt today. Finishing up a few projects before I go and some laundry to hang out before class time.
Got some homemade bread in the machine for when I get home. Then it will be off to take my son up to the shop to pick up his car and a quick stop at walmart to look at fabric.
Blondie wish you luck with finding a great attorney
Hugs to all the need/want them. Have a great day.

and to Tuesday Morning to check on advertised Sizzix Big Shots.

Good luck with the Big Shot. I was there Sunday morning at 9:00 and it was a free for all. There were about 10 machines and they were gone in 30 seconds. I did get one, but I think I nabbed the last one. One woman was really mad at me and was muttering the whole time. Not sure if she thought I should give her mine or what. I just ignored her.

I have an Accuquilt go and I wanted this for the variety in dies. I think this would compare to the Go Baby. It will only take a die that is 6" wide or less. Some of my dies for the Go are 10". You can use accuquilt in the big shot, but not sizzix dies in the go.

Morning every one. When I was first married I had no where to put my small sewing thread, needles, scissors, etc. MIL was throwing out a beautiful tin that some candy came in so I asked for it. It had a ocean liner on the top and for many years that where I kept my sewing supplies. Now I have a whole room to keep them in.

I still keep a big button jar even though I haven't sewn a button on anything for years. Just emptied a can of coffee and was wondering what I could use the can for. It is a small size can whose sides are silvery when the label is taken off, has to be good for something.

This morning like Blondie and Monique I'm going to work, laundry, vacuuming and cleaning out the fridge. Also need to finish sewing toss pillow covers so I can put away the machine and sewing stuff all over the dining room table, place looks so messy with so much out of place.

Need to clear the decks because I want to work on my Secret Pal gifts - only a few more weeks until they need to be mailed.

I have a coffee can that I put used rotary blades, broken needles etc. in. Then I can put it out for the trash without worrying about anyone getting cut.

Good morning all!

Not much going on here! Dd comes home tonight....they are on fall break. So she will be here until Sunday. Love having her home, but she will work this trip back. Has to keep her spending money flowing. DS turns 21 on Saturday, but will be celebrating with his girlfriend then so I am having his party tomorrow night...he wants biscuits n gravy bacon n eggs. Easy easy ! I will have my mom out for the meal and cake. I must say I have really grown a responsible smart young man!! I love my little cracker boy!!

Well off to work!! Get to stay local today!! Yay! Everyone have a great day!!!

Good Morning all! Blondie, I wish you luck in your legal battles, but I don't have any advice.

I too have tins that hold a variety of sewing supplies - in fact, that very tin is the one I kept my "original" sewing supplies in. Mom also used them and I have hers. Not sure why, I don't use the stuff in either of them anymore. I use mason jars to keep my scraps of fabric in - I do it by color and they look pretty up on a shelf. However, I think I need gallon size jars instead of the quart and pint jars that I have going - scraps grow very fast!

Worked on my mug rug for the swap last night - it gets mailed Friday, so I need to finish it up tonight. Just need to quilt and bind it. Hope my buddy likes it. Once that is done, I can go back to the falling charms I am working on with the Oink-a-doodle-moo fabric. I just love it now that it is arranged in a colorway strips - I was not happy with it until I saw Davidsgirl08's and changed my layout. Love the inspiration from this forum!

Hugs and prayers for all, whether you think you need them or not. :)

Congrats,Dolores! I really expect them all to be gone but I check in at TM anyway when in the town where it's located. You never know what you'll find. Maybe I'll get lucky.

Good Morning, all!

Oh Blondie, I DO love those Butter Cookies that come in those tins, so even now I would be disappointed to find anything else in there!

I'm off to sew with my friend Deborah today and then to my son's baseball game at 5 - if it doesn't get rained out.

Hope everyone has a blessed day!

Ugh, I had 2 four drawer lateral file cabinets with Mams Medical Claims for Insurance, Social Security Disability, Medicare! She was 49 when was first diagnosed, 9 years later SDI/Medicare approved her 2 days she passed away!! Don't get me going about medical incompetency either. Mams had 22 surgeries/experimental laser/radiation in-plants the first 2 years. The doctors we have seen in those 9 years, lets just say they are not worthy of MD after their last name.

Attorney...tough call...will take some research to find a good one. I know from watching all the medical procedure claim ads on TV from Attorneys, my Mams could go for at least four that she had done that she had problems with within 1 year! Prayers and strength, I'm with you on that your Mom should never had have to go through these last years for something that should have been caught early on!!

Donny had to get to his part-time job at 7 this morning, woke me up from a perfect dream...We were on a cruise...Of course, couldn't get back to it!!

It's SS payday, need to make sure that this Shut Down didn't stop the check! I'm sure it's there 'cause it would have caused a Revolution if the 1st of the Month Seniors didn't get their checks. This means I can grocery shop and pay utilities. :D

Now about those notions...LOVE THEM! Buttons, got to keep them! Vintage, got to find, buy, keep. I have old sewing packs with cool graphic scenes. As a graphic designer I'm always looking for packaging from the 20-60.

Well, I better clean up the place, it's been neglected the last four days...

I'm up and needing to get a move on. DD is still on Gov. furlough and we are doing some errands. I go along for the ride and to get the stink blowed off me.. been in the house too many days straight and have to go window shopping. Ya never know what cha might see that you can't live without!!

I do need some new needles for my machines.. time to change them out after this past week of marathon sewing.

Got all my winter pants out and ready to wear.. it gets nippy here in the morning and evenings. 42 this am.. yikes!! Makes me want to start knitting some more sweaters!!

Good morning everyone.

I love buttons too! I remember my mom had a button jar I use to love looking at all the buttons. One of my "chores" as a girl was to cut the buttons off clothing that was no longer wearable and putting the buttons in the jar and the clothing item in the "rag bag". We had a large gunny sack that hunk in the laundry room that was filled with rags and mom used them in her "rag mop" and to clean with.
I have a big button jar now.
I also remember when we were growing up, going to the button jar and finding the biggest button we could find and putting on a long string and tying the string in a circle then spinning the button and pulling out on the string to make it hum. Simple toys for simple minds.

I got two loads of laundry washed and on the clothesline yesterday. I have one more load of my clothes to do today and the bedding. I need to get it done today so it can dry and I can get it off the line tomorrow because it is suppose to start raining sometime on Friday and rain everyday for the next week. :( Rain = wet dogs yuck!

Barb... the coyotes were singing around here last night. I don't mind when they are off in the distance..don't care for the sound when they sound like they are close to the house.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Hugs and prayers to all.

Good morning all!

Blondie: I left nursing and went into the licensing/administration side of it because I could help more people. It became all too apparent to me that because you went to school and have a medical or nursing or whatever license doesn't mean you deserve to have it. I treasure the good ones but the bad ones destroy lives far too often.

My Dad is my button gatherer. He takes all the buttons off of old clothes he turns into rags and saves them for me. He is so cool! I reuse everything but my current favorite is my yeast jar that I poked a hole in the lid and decoupaged the lid with a bit of blue floral fabric for my used needles. It is functional and cute. It also reminds me to change my needles.

Today is my own, very little cleaning to do and no errands so I am happy to take a bubble bath and then sew.

Barb: Always thinking of you and really praying today goes well for you.

Prayers to all and with you all a peaceful and productive day!

Good Morning Ladies

Hope all goes well for everyone today.

I love collecting buttons, I keep mine in mason jars so I can see how pretty they look.

I have had my grandkids since Sunday and going to have my last day of fun filled things to do with them today since I have to take them home tonight, so they can have a couple of fun days with mom and dad before it is time for them to get back to everyday business and school.

Have a great day and prayers go out to everyone.

I actually put anything in it, from my sewing room, that I don't want to put in the regular trash. Like you said - batteries and I also put light bulbs in it. We buy coffee in those 3 lb. plastic containers....and I just pitch the container and get another one.

Donna, I showed the girls how to do the spinning buttons and one wound up stuck in someone's hair. Now they aren't allowed string . . . I've been there and done that with cutting buttons and having Mom use the rags in the mop. We also had a buffet cabinet with doors and Sis and I would stretch rubber bands and make our own music. Good ole days that we cherish. What would the grandkids do without knowing Swiffer?

Not going to share any more about the things that I hang on to. You may all want to turn me in for a new reality show!!!!

Still on my cleaning and organization streak. I was just about ready to call it a day yesterday when five girls showed up with the great idea of baking a cake and icing it . . . I am almost afraid to head back to the kitchen this morning!!!

Off to see the Wizard. Sure hope everyone has a wonderful day filled with fun - oh, and Barb, I have you in my thoughts and prayers.

Gosh Blondie... nothings better or easier than Breakfast for dinner. We love it too. One night this week I plan to have Biscuits and Sausage Gravy. My grandkids love Pancakes for dinner, as I did when I was a kid.

So much going on this week, can't tell if I am coming or going. I gotta get now... headed on a road trip for the day. 2 hours down, 2 hours back. The things we do for love.

Sandy Sandy, Bo Bandy... Let me know when your house is done, I wanna come see it! And you of course!

Good Morning! Blondie, you are always so upbeat, I love your posts. It is nice to start the day with a positive outlook.

I seem to have lots of Rubbermaid in my house for sewing supplies. I like them because you can see what's inside.

I will be spending the day in my laundry room, got a bit behind with that and my DH informed me that he running out of undies.

Hope to get some sewing done but right now I am off to call my BFF who moved from here (Kansas) to California about 9 months ago and I miss her dearly!!!!!!

A beautiful sunny day here, wish this weather could last all year but I will enjoy it while I can.

Wow! Some sleep certainly helped! Now to chase the last of the cobwebs with a cup of coffee and a slice of pumpkin bread! Once the little miss is off to school, I'll be back to the quilting. I have decided that my next sewing machine needs a bigger throat!

I have one of those apothecary jars with a screw lid for my buttons. Em loves to turn it this way & that to see all of the different ones. I went to IKEA and bought a bunch of little square containers that look like overgrown Lego bricks. They hold all sorts of things and with a label maker I know which is which. I did discover that if you find a container that works, you should buy as many of them as you think you might need and one or two more. I went back to buy a few more and they don't make that size with that lid closure any longer!
Our cookie tins hold used crayons, fire starters for the woodstove, hubby's used brass casings, and other fabulous treasures out in the shop. We save the ones from the big bins of Christmas popcorn too. They are pretty mouse proof, which is nice out in the shop and the barn.

Well, the coffee is done brewing and I have a quilt calling my name!
Make someone's day & find a smile! Cathy

Love the cookies with the bits of sugar on them. My Royal Dansk tin is a huge one and it holds all my cookie cutters. Haven't made rolled and cut cookies in ages but I still hold on the them just in case.

Woo hoo, it is still morning. Blondie good luck in your search for a good lawyer. Glad that momma is feeling better. Still working the cobwebs out of my head from the retreat. Plan on taking pic today of the beautiful PICU quilts I received from the gals there. I am not even sure I can put a name with who made them, so once I get them loaded on the open forum and in the group, please let me know who's is who's. The only one I know for sure is Jeans jelly roll jam one, but I saw that one every day. But it was so hectic when I got the others and everyone was looking at them I got them mixed up :( I want to give credit where credit is due. Working on a couple of things today. Wishing everyone a blessed day. Prayers and hugs for all.
