Hello there everyone! I hope everyone is doing good. I hope you haven't forgotten about me! Ha! I know it's been a long time since I've been on here. A lot has changed, and changes are being still made as far as what's going on in my life. To be honest, I haven't done much sewing lately because of everything that has been happening. But I would like to get back into sewing, starting small and going from there. I hope everyone had a wonderful summer!! :) I had an okay summer, could have been better but beggars can't be choosers... right?

I've been actually kind of working on a small project, and I can't seem to figure it out! I have found patterns for what I am doing but the patterns seem kind of confusing or not exactly what I have. I bought a thirty-one skirt purse, not sure if you know what that is? Here's a picture of what it looks like:

The floral pattern is what they call the skirt, and it comes off the purse so you can put on other skirts without buying a whole new purse. The thirty-one company wants $15 a skirt, where I know it would be easy enough to make myself! However, for some reason the pattern making is defeating me left and right! So I was wondering if anyone has this purse, and possibly made their own (what they call) skirts? I think the part that is throwing me off is the curve at the top of the purse, and that's what is throwing me off. But I figured I'd ask you brilliant ladies! Any help on this would be highly appreciated. :)

Again, I hope everyone is doing great!! :) I missed you all. :)

Hey CJ! missed you!

I found this tut but not sure how the rim can hold up those small hooks. I'm still a little confused.

Hi CJ! Yes, we missed you! I think of you everytime I make a tote, especially one with a zipper and outside pckets. But I've never seen the 31 purse with skirt, so I'm no help with a pattern for it. Hope you find what you are looking for!

Awe, thanks for all the "missed you" comments, that's so sweet of you ladies!! :)

I've actually already seen these patterns, and was hoping there was an easier way to do it or thought there was... Maybe I'm just being stubborn and hoping for an easier way... :P Thanks for the links though!! :)

What about magnets like the bag on tv? There has to be some way to do it.

The purse I have is very similar to that, but uses hooks instead of magnets. Hm, here's a video of more of what the purse is:

http://youtu.be/1uCsi4rllU8

Hope this video gives you more of what this purse is. Basically you buy the purse from thirty-one, and they always only have like 4 choices of skirts and they update them from time to time as far as the "skirt" goes (which is the part that goes over the purse to give it a different look). I love this purse because I can keep the purse, and change the outer shell without buying a whole new purse. :)

But yeah, I want to be able to make my own covers. But was hoping there would be a easier way to make them without having to do the curved part if that makes sense? But doesn't look like I can steer away from that I guess unless someone see's what I can do?

Missed everyone too!! :)

Ahh now I know it attaches. I don't think you can change it too much since it's just a shell cover. But you could add them to your etsy shop!

Hey CJ, glad you're back!!!

57626Have you tried deconstructing the skirt you have? if you carefully take it apart (taking pics all along the way) maybe then you can use it for your pattern & put it back together in reverse.

Yeah, I've taken an extra skirt that a friend sent me. But there are parts that are completely throwing me off. But yeah. I'm going to keep trying to figure it out though!! :)

Oh, I know you don't want to buy one, but to show all the cool ideas. I might need to buy these for my dd's! One is totally into changing stuff around.

Hmm Christmas is around the corner!

Definitely makes a perfect Christmas gift, and when you purchase the purse itself, you get a free skirt of your choice.... Well, at least of the current selection they have. That's why so many people make their skirts because the 31 skirt company only has so many available each catalog that comes out. Like currently there are like I believe 4 skirts to choose from.

And if you end up figuring out the pattern, and making it easy and understandable PLEASE, share? lol!!

I know there are some online, but they are kind of confusing and not well worded I guess? I don't know... Plus I know the one pattern has you cut out rounded corners for the bottom of the bag and then you do whatever to make it be a flat corner type thing, but I'm hoping there is a way to do it so that you do the "square cut out" or make the "triangle" tip and sew across to make the flat bottom if that makes sense? But the other main thing that throws me off is the top of the bag, with the hooks. Yeah!

Also, if you ever do manage to make a pattern here is a site that sells the little bracket hook things itself.... Skirt Hooks & Eyes in Hooks & Eyes: Sewing Supplies & Alteration Supplies by Sew True.com (http://sewtrue.com/Store/Skirt-Hooks-and-Eyes-P387.html) (You have the option to just purchase the "eyes" as they call it on the website I given above.)
