View Full Version : Update on my medical drama

Geez, that makes it sound like I'm a Hollywood producer!!!

Anyways I ended up having my mom take me to urgent care tonight. My med mix is 3 pills for my actual condition, plus 2 pills for side effects of the 3 medications, plus vitamins, and Tylenol as needed. Last week, I started having tunnel vision and shaking, so I was given one of the two side effect meds. Sunday I started getting dizzy all the time, especially from standing or sitting up - basically, movement. Today, the dizzy spells were the worst yet, and I was seeing black spots and alot of double vision. My blood sugar is ok, pulse and BP are ok. So now I need to get a blood panel on Wednesday morning, and I'm being rushed to the top of the wait list for a specialist. The Dr did see me have a dizzy spell in her office, and when she was doing the follow the tip of my finger thing, my left eye would not cooperate.

That's not all though - in 11 days I have gained 17 pounds, and I now have a doctors note saying I cannot drive until I see more doctors. So, I'm stuck at home, at the mercy of my parents, until I get the clearance to drive.

And the disorder isn't an easy pill to swallow either - there is no cure, no way to make the symptoms go away. I will be on pills for the rest of my life, and have to work with a Dr. should I ever find Mr. Right and have that baby I desperately want to have. Plus, its a condition that normally comes with stigma from the uneducated public. But it truly is a medical issue - my chemicals and electrical impulses in my brain are misfiring.

Hmm, what to do in the times I am alone at home? I don't suppose these piles of fabric can be magically transformed into projects.....

Oh you! I am so sorry for what is going on right now. You just have to try and keep in mind that despite everything on this earth if you do not put your health first everything else you intend, want, desire can not happen. Take care of you and wish for fairies to come finish some projects for you.

Now that you know what your condition is, you know what you must do to live with it. My aunt had the same thing and lived a very normal productive life after her diagnosis...

Prayers for your journey to a "new normal" - you can do it! And take advantage of your time at home as much as possible to tackle those piles of fabric - it will be good for you.

My heart goes out to you, Amy. Stay strong, please, knowing that we all love you.

Amy, sorry to hear all the problems you have been having. I have been away for about a week so I am a little behind here. Have you gotten a name for your diagnosis? I hope you feel better real soon and real fast.

I'm praying for you, Amy. Hopefully you will be able to stabilize soon. Hugs, Barb

(((Amy))), it will take a while to adjust to your medical diagnosis. Prayers and strength to keep a positive outlook (I know this can be tough) to research how others are dealing with this same problem. It may give you insight as to how you can the best out of things. For me the hardest part of my Fibro/RA diagnosis 13 years ago, was accepting that I couldn't go 12-14 hours a day working non-stop. To listen to my body when I needed a break. You need to hang in there and if you need a sounding board, you know where to find us. :)

Huggers, Ruby
