Happy Wednesday Folksies!

So, it's summertime. It is finally time for warm/hot/muggy/buggy days. When you can't think of what to be thankful for, just be thankful for A/C!

Yesterday I accomplished absolutely nothing. Nada. Zip. It was the kind of day you only dream about. And then I took a nap to top it off. I can't see this happening again in the near future because I really felt rotten. Not guilty or anything like that. Just shiftless and unnecessary. It was heavenly. I remember thinking this is what it must be like to be a kid. As I mentioned yesterday morning, I didn't even cook last night. That was the bestest ending to the bestest day. Now I didn't mention that I did sew a few stitches on a candle mat. But mostly I just played with fabric scraps.

Since I need to go into the salon this morning to give a perm, I must say have a good day dearies. Smile. And smile again. Grab up someone who needs a hug and give them a reason to smile.

Blessings

Good morning! I was notified yesterday that the Kentucky Personnel Cabinet has approved my retirement effective Aug 1 so it's now officially official! Now the Retirement folks need to get all my paperwork processed so that my retirement checks start after Aug 1! Everything in state government involves a lot of paperwork and retirement is no different.

I should've cut the grass yesterday afternoon cause the forecast is calling for thunderstorms the next couple of days. It's only been 6 days. I don't think the grass here has ever grown so fast! Gotta eat breakfast and get ready for work. Happy Hump Day!

Having a great time here on Oahu - Last night was pizza and a movie night - great pizza and an awesome suspense thriller! Told Roxy I was having the time of my life, she said "Watchin' a movie?" I said, "This is old hat to you but I am in Hawaii!!!! I still can't believe I'm here!"
It's not like when we were younger and worrying about kids and jobs etc. - She has to work some days, but we are having so much fun! We started 2 more quilts yesterday, one we have to wait till we can get a little more to go with it and so we started one for her DIL using the Owlivia layer cake and some solid fabric she has here - she wants to do big pinwheels. So I had her cut 10" squares and mark the lines - she started sewing and had to quit before she was finished - she's gone to bed and I told her I would finish them.
We were going to go to the beach yesterday but decided not to, so will be going later this morning - so I guess I better go get some sleep - it's just 1 a.m. here....
Just so grateful to be here and glad I still have 3-4 weeks left!

Have been reading and trying to keep up with everyone as best I can, just not enough time to comment a lot of the time....
so hope you are all doing well and my prayers and well wishes to you all!

.......and for sure we will get some pics of us together and me in my beach outfit and hat......and Dresdens.....and quilts....and and and......

Monique, just downloaded the book! Thank you for the heads up! :)

Myrna, congrats on being officially on the short timers list for retirement! :D YeaHoo!

Kathy, what fun you're having on Oahu! Enjoy! We miss our island, especially Makaha Valley where our friends are. Great memories...

This morning I meet with the Breast Specialist at 10, need to get there 20 minutes earlier to complete paper work. Need to program the GPS to get there otherwise I might end up in Tennessee! lol

My major prayer is that this pea size growth is NOT in the lymphatic system, no bueno. She will shine the light on the path forward on the biopsy, etc. This specialist is a partner of the oncologist surgeon's group who has an excellent reputation, I feel in good hand.

Tomorrow night my Donny comes home and I'm ready for it! So are the grandbabies, Ollie says "Opa's coming home, Yea" and waves his hands over his head. Oh so cute!!

Well, time to get ready.

Huggers, Ruby

Official good morning post-- Ruby, prayers will be said for you as you go through your exam tomorrow.

Kathy, what a wonderful time you must be having with sis in Hawaii! I'd be tempted to lose that ticket back home and just stay forever!

I'm slowly working on more costumes, photoshoot tonight. Today may be my last day at the bridal salon, our work is slowing down and only one seamstress is needed for bridesmaids. It's nice to have a little more spending money, but I really struggle with the work. It is just not my cup of tea. And I am slow! And it totally wears me out! Can't say I'll be unhappy to be unemployed again.

Big thunderstorm just came through, but all is quiet again, but the skies are still omnious looking. A worker is coming to do some work on my sprinkler system, he's used to being wet, so I guess he can work in the rain!

Have a great day!

Hi Everyone,

Ruby, I will be praying for your appointment this morning. I'm so glad Don will be home tomorrow. Hang in there, Sweetie...

Tomorrow is my big dental appointment/ordeal. It will begin at 1 pm and go until it's done. He will break a permanent bridge out of my mouth, do 2 or 3 root canals and give me a temporary bridge. The bone in my jaw has deteriorated (due to getting older) and from this I may have to go right in to have pins put into my jaw for support. My jaw comes unhinged every time I eat something thick or yawn...sometimes it's hard to get it to reconnect. There is also a slight chance my jaw could break during the procedure tomorrow...not good. Please pray for me.

Myrna, you are now entering the hardest month of your career! Once my retirement was official it was hard to drag my body to work for that last month. You are going to LOVE being retired....after the initial shock wears off. I wish you the best.

I have an early morning appointment, so I need to get ready and get out of here. Wishing everyone a good day.

Hugs All Around.....Barb

Good Morning All...sending prayers to Ruby and Barb and all that need them...
I'm heading to JoAnns today to get some supplies...I'm still sewing like mad on mostly small things for the craft shows coming up...I've made more totes, table toppers, potholders, a few shirts, and dh is still working on rag garlands (I think he likes it)...

Kathy, what a great time you must be having in Hawaii...and sounds like you are getting a lot done, too...
Myrna, I hope everything goes smoothly with your retirement paperwork...and then more time for sewing!

Hi!

I have received lots of letters this morning. First were 2 letters from my new bank (I made an account there last thursday) one was my VISA Electron, the other was the pin code ... which was not readable. Hmpf. Have to ask for a new one which may take again some days.. great! Then there was a package that contained a tiny order I had made (and was way too expensive, I won't give out any details else I get mad at myself again :D) and the last one but most welcomed one was from one forumfriend. My mug rug arrived, yay! I have posted it in my forum album and in the Summer mug rug group for anyone who is curious to check it out. Let me tell you, I LOVE IT! Madeforyouinma11 did a great job when she made those. :) Thanks again, Cil!

Positive thoughts go out to those need them and want them. E-huggers as well. Ruby, I hope your appointment turns out well. Pls let us know what's going on .. hoping all the best!

Hugs,

Steffie

Good morning, all. Saying prayers now for Ruby and Barb. You're both going through some serious stuff. Today is DH's 55th birthday so after work tonight we are going out to celebrate at Lone Oak, the best little ice cream place in New Hampshire. No celebration with cake and candles until Bethany and the kids get home from vacation. It's just no fun to have to blow out birthday candles without help from the grands. Friday will be our 33rd wedding anniversary and I've got my sights set on some fried clams to celebrate. It's one of the perks of summer in New England!

Didn't we just have a Wednesday LAST WEEK? Hope today isn't a rerun!! At least the sun is out (I think it was this time yesterday, too), but we had some really powerful storms yesterday morning.

Everyone here has something going on - retirement, boobies, dental work, jobs . . . and I have been goofing off the last few days . . . just can't seem to 'get it together'. Somewhere along the line my get up and go just got up and went. I'll have to check with the kids to see if they have found it. Probably doesn't help a bit that my computer chair is comfortable.

And so, I leave you with good wishes, prayers where needed, hopes for a better tomorrow, and curly hair in northern NC.

Blondie, Every once in awhile we all need a day to just do nothing and then take a nap.
Ruby, We're all praying all goes well today.
Myrna, Counting down the days with you until your freedom from your job.
Kathy, Somehow we are getting the impression you are having a great time visiting your sister, LOL
Bubby, Hope all goes well at the dentist.

New central AC was installed very quickly yesterday afternoon and was working great, that is until DH decided to change the settings and the thermostat stopped working. It was a cool last night so we didn't need it. Called service dept. first thing this am and serviceman will be here this afternoon. DH just left to get new car insurance policy, about $300 cheaper than current one, and when he returns we will and check out the new super supermarket in town. The Grand Opening week is over so things must have calmed down enough so we can get a parking space. It is located very near our home so we plan to do most of our food shopping there. We also have a big farm market nearby that has great meat and deli departments and I shop there at least once a week, their local produce and eggs are the best. I remember only the A&P to shop at when we moved here in 1960, now there are so many large supermarkets, farm markets and convenience stores to choose from to choose from. If I took advantage of all their sales and specials I be bankrupt!

Payers for everyone that needs them and well wishing thought for everyone else on this day. My husband reminded me that last night that it was Tuesday when I asked him what was on the Monday night line up on tv.. Boy, being on summer vacation is hard, I loose track of time so easily!

Sorry to hear about all of the weather related problems, but here, it is supposed to be 117 and up to 120 by Saturday.. that's outside, not in my oven! So I water plants early so I don't crisp outside and then I stay inside with the air on at 79 degrees.

Finished the polish on the Mystery Quilt and now am working on my daughters christmas quilt. Should have it together and ready for the frames today.. ahh yes, then I have to set up the frames. Still haven't done it from the move, guess today is as good as any!

Off for coffee and then hit the machine..... sew sew sew sew

Good Morning All,

Prayers going out to all my forum friends.

Bubby, your dentist appointment sounds horrifying to me. My grandma lived to be 98 and she told us for her last 30 YEARS to take care of our teeth. I hope I didn't inherit her horrible teeth.

The only sewing I've gotten done this week is I put a minky backing on a throw for a friend. I thought it was going to be really easy but not so much. That stuff moves around and stretches like crazy, and sheds. The only thing on my schedule today is sewing and laundry. It's going to be a great day!!!!

Morning all, spent most of yesterday getting adjusted to the new lenses in my glasses......I feel 10 feet tall! I guess my depth perception was way off....the astigmatism in my right eye had worsen and I didn't realize how bad it had gotten so I spent a lazy day yesterday accomplishing almost nothing....I do think I got my bed made and a few scraps cut into usable pieces and I cleaned off my table that I use for ironing and such....becomes a catch all very quickly in the sewing room.....read a good book, played a little on the computer; warmed up left overs for dinner and that was my day...today I have to give myself a good swift kick...(you all know where) and get something done! You know, housework...that dirty word again and laundry...Steve left me with a bunch of it and I did 7 loads last week when he was home....not my usual two!
I have so much to do and no energy for any of it! Oh well, it won't get done sitting here....everyone have a great day, prayers being said for those in need and a hug for all

Prayers for Ruby and Barb as they go through their procedures. Not sure what will get done today. Need to do some errands, just getting myself going to do them is the issue. Want to get started on Gabe's SpongeBob quilt. Still haven't decided if I am hand quilting or machine quilting DH's bass quilt. Need to get off here and actually do something. Hugs and blessings to all, prayers for those in need.

(((Barb)))

We are all saying extra prayers for you. Your procedure sounds terribly painful and stressful! I hate dental procedures and they would have to knock me out! I would rather give birth again and I had halted labor for 2 days with Kat!! lol

Make sure Jeff takes super duper care of you, now I know he will but I'm stressing this because I'm too far from you to come over and help him!!

Much love and hugs from The Schmers and Stegers. Extra hugs and kisses from Miss Penny, Oliver and Zander!

Hi all...yep I'm late again! Almost 2 in the afternoon here! Had a busy morning then had two meetings back to back so no time to even go pee! Went to a lunch session on Wills which was interesting....funny wee guy giving the talk...wanted to have a sense of humour but most just came off as rude! LOL! Anyway...the end result is I don't have a will and I NEED to get one done!!

Barb I'm sorry you have these dental issues...I sure hope it goes well and you recover very quickly!! I assume you'll be MIA for a day or so...please take care!

Ruby, will be thinking of you tomorrow and hoping for sure that this is just a pea sized bit of nothing!

Myrna, retirement...sigh. I'm so green here for sure. Congratulations again! IMAGINE all the time you will have to quilt!?!

Monique - I don't have a kindle! :( BUT if y'all recommend that book then I'll buy it!

Marilyn, how are you feeling? Hope the steroids aren't makin yer head spin round and round again.

Everyone else...have a fantabulous day!!

I am very late too! I have given myself a kick in the butt today. I need to get something worthwhile accomplished. I feel like Sandy....my get up and go, got up and went but I caught hold of it today and I'm gonna give it he##! I need to get certain things done and I've been sitting around worrying about the tests that I need to go for in July and that is not getting anything accomplished. Oh well, off to the store and back home to attack!
Ruby and Barb, you are both in my prayers for successful procedures.
Hugs and prayers to everyone..have a great day!

Hi there All,
Firstly, best wishes to those of you who are struggling with health and other issues. I hope that everything turns well. Happy thoughts to you all.
Not much to report from here. Another day in the office yesterday. Dropped my dauther to my sister in law for a sleepover and play day with her cousins (who she just loves). Then went home and did some hand stitching whilst I watched the 'State of Origin' Rugby League match. Don't normally follow the football too much, but Origin is different. Another great winter day here in Sunny Queensland. Doesn't snow here at all. In fact, I have only ever seen snow once in my whole life. I would love to have a white Christmas one year somewhere over in the States. Christmas days for our family here are always smack in the middle of Summer - no winter wonderland here in December. Have heard once though that being snowed in for a time with a bunch of relatives that may drive you a little nuts isn't that much fun (especially when the eggnog runs out). Hever had eggnog either. (such a sheltered life I lead) Anyone out there been snowed in with relatives that drove them nuts? Perhaps I will get over there for a christmas some time.
Happy day / evening to all!!
