I posted this in the Periwinkle thread but just in case you don't revisit here's a solution to the Periwinkle block dilemma.

Very easy to do this as a paper-pieced pattern and then you don't have to worry about accuracy. Below is a link to a paper-pieced version. This block is also called The Hummingbird Block, by the way.

For those of you who haven't tried paper-piecing yet, this is an excellent one to start with since the pieces are large and there are only 3 pieces to each section of the block.

This should solve the problem you all are having. The pattern can also be enlarged or reduced on your copier to customize the block size to your liking. If you're not keen on trying paper-piecing add 1/4" seams on each side and then cut out the center piece and one side piece. Then make yourself a plastic template or take it to your glass guy and have him or her cut it out of plexiglass. Should be an inexpensive purchase.

The paper pieced patterns are on this page, and quite a few of them, I might add. You can click on the pattern and go from there.

Scroll down and under Stars, Hearts and Shapes.....the Arkansas Star.

Thanks for the link.....Lot's of ideas.

Oops! Sorry about that. Thanks Slokarma, I see you took care of it. Yes, lots of good patterns on this site. Bookmarking it for sure! Actually, I think she calls it the "Arkansas Snowflake" rather than Arkansas Star."

Yep, you are correct, it's the Arkansas Snowflake.
Mistakes like that make me wonder how many other things I get wrong all day long....
Geeze :icon_rolleyes:!!!!!
