It's my birthday today...Yup, the big 50. I was in a mood for thinking back over the years and came up with this list of 50 of the things I have loved well. I thought I would share and hope it will brighten your day.
A Few Things I have Loved Through the Last 50 Years: [Listed Randomly]
The Song of Birds in the Mornings
A Gentle Breeze ~ scented with Lilacs.
Building Sand Castles at the beach as a little child with my big brothers.
Climbing Trees, Damming up streams, Catching a football with my siblings.
Finding I could learn to ride a bike . . . Finally!
Watching the sunset, especially at twilight when everything is barely backlit into silhouettes.
Watching a Full Moon come up over a Mountain Top.
The Sound and rhythm of Water in Motion
Being STILL in a ‘Natural’ Setting.
The Sight and Sound of the Ocean. The Gentle waves lapping the shore. Big Waves pounding the shore during a winter storm.
The Spicy Fragrance of the Pacific Northwest after a rainfall.
Trees, Lots and Lots of Trees!
Growing my own flowers to give away in bouquets.
Eating my own homegrown, fresh picked peas.
Apples picked ripe, sweet, tangy, crisp & sun-warmed off the tree.
Losing myself in a great Book
Reading to Young Children
Rocking an infant
Singing softly to my babies.
The Joy and Delight of Preschool
Rocking Chairs
Camp Fires
Camping
Hiking in a beautiful setting.
Smoked Salmon
Dungeness Crab
Fresh Strawberries
Watermelon seed spitting contests with my siblings.
The pure exultation of learning you can fly . . . made possible by the playground swings.
Road Trips with my family
Finding my Ancestors
The Smooth, Creamy, Silky Sweet Taste of Chocolate!!!
Being in the Temple
Reading the Book of Mormon with our Family.
Watching the ‘Sound of Music’ with my Family while Mark ‘Belts out the Songs’ and we all laugh until our sides ache.
Creating something that actually works out well! Quilts, Afghans, Cards, a Garden, my Preschool, Cinnamon Rolls, a Roast, etc. […a thing can turn out so different from one moment to the next]
One precise ‘Golden Moment’ in Time: Watching the Sun set forever over the Pacific Ocean ~ with all my children cuddled up around me, quietly talking about anything that came into our heads.
A thousand ‘Golden Moments’ with Mark, mostly laughing together.
The pure joy of feeling my Heavenly Father knows and loves me personally.
A thousand ways that I see and feel my Saviors love for me.
The great love I feel for the gift of growing up and living in this Nation.
Watching my Children excel.
Being together with my family.
Seeing excellent character traits put into practice by my children; especially Kindness, Integrity, Faith, Generosity, Loyalty, Hard Work, Compassion, Service and Forgiveness.
A song or melody that stirs my soul with beauty and brings me peace.
A Tune that just makes you feel happy!
Rediscovering the wonder of the world through the eyes of a young child.
Recognizing and seeing the qualities I admire most ~ in the people I love the best.
The sweet comfort of a true friend; someone you can be totally at ease with, someone who really ‘gets’ who you are, and accepts you completely.
I can not think of a better way to spend a birthday than to count my blessings...I always makes for a great day.
