Hi everyone,

next week, I am going to New York City for vacation and I wanted to ask if anybody could tell me where I should go best for fabric shopping there? Or in the area around it. Any hints or recommendations are very much appreciated! Thanks in advance :icon_bigsmile:

I was just going to say that!!! I look at their website often. And just because I am a Project Runaway fan, I'd go to Mood!

They have a facebook page too, if you frequent that!

If I were going I would go to Mood too. Love Project Runway and Swatch their little mascot.

I have been to Mood fabric store, it is a fabric wonderland. Paron is great- I bought fabrics there, maybe a yard and a half of each and when I got home they had cut well over two yards of each. Paron's is very generous. City Quilter is a lovely store, not inexpensive. Walking around the fabric district, going in and out of the stores is too much fun. Enjoy!

Hey, I'm going too! We won't have much time but I'm going to google directions to these places just in case I can convince hubby and daughter to take a detour! (Doubt it, but it will be fun anyway!) Have a great trip!

Well this is EXCITING, because I wasn't sure myself! I'm an hour and 15 min out and venture in, a couple times a year...
Perhaps I should do some research, and put together a map and a walking/ subway tour for quilters visiting NYC!
Wouldn't that just pi$$ off your husbands to NO end!

Keeping an eye on this thread! We're going October 2014. I've also heard there are some great notion shops in NYC.

I have a Pinterest board dedicated to my trip (http://pinterest.com/magnoliafly/nyc-trip/) so far.

Yes, The City Quilter. Guess I was thinking it's in the big city. LOL! And definitely Mood just for the experience and so I can say "I was there" whenever I watch PR.

Hey everyone, thank you VERY much for all these good tips! Ive looked for the stores online and they seem to be amazing. I might be spending a whole day in the Mood store... Im pretty sure my poor husband will be in pain by the end of the trip, and the credit card as well :D And what a coincidence - our hotel is just about two blocks away from all that fabric *dancing around in my room* :)

Sue, thanks for the pizza tip. Well try it out.
