After 22 and a half years of togetherness, and (come June) 22 years of sharing our lives under one roof, Mike and I are getting married!

He finally wore me down, girls ;). Or something like that.

It just dawned on me, not only do we share a Spike in our lives, but also a Mike! If you get a female dog her name has to be Ginger. ;)

It took Bill 7 years to get convinced he wanted to marry me. I don't think I would have waited 22. Congratulations!

Al and I knew each other 6 weeks - I know there are others who 'hung around' together less than that. But, the first time we went out he said "By the way, we're getting married . . . " I won't put into cyberspace what I said back.

Congratulations! Usually if someone is getting married after being together for 22 years they are renewing their vows. I have friends who have never married. They've been together longer than Joe and me and we've been married going on 31 years come September 25th! I've always wondered why they haven't married but I don't ask. Seems like there must be some benefit in being married or is there no good reason to tie the knot these days? Considering how high the divorce rate is I could see where one might be hesitant to make it legal. When I see what my brother-in-law is going through to get divorced I can certainly see why some would be gun shy! He's having a very rough time with his hopefully soon-to-be ex-wife not being realistic when it comes to what Bobby earns. The lawer said she wants more than Bobby is earning! Yikes! I'll end here before I bore you with details.

I just re-read what I wrote. I don't know what got me going about my brother-in-law. Sorry about that! I realized that I should've just said congratulations. Please let us know all about the wedding plans and maybe you'd post a picture of your wedding day. You know how we love pictures.

We are tying the knot on June 29th... yes, of THIS year. Going to be an ultra casual backyard wedding, complete with jeans and flip flops :-)

Congratulations! When is the big day?

LOL, that's what a friend asked - if we "have" to get married <G>. The answer - a very relieved "no"!

Well, my story is that Mike has been sobbing and pleading for all this time and I finally caved.

HIS story is that I threatened him <G>.

So, it's one or the other, I suppose!

WhooHoo!

Congratulations! Who wore whom down?

Well, wedding plan is to keep everything cheap and simple! My son is getting married in April of 2014, and they are going all out, big bucks, big plans, big STRESS.

So for ours we're doing the food ourselves (crock pot italian sausage for sandwiches), I'm wearing white capri pants (get it, white, like bridal!) and flip flops and a pretty summer top, and Mike is wearing jeans and a tshirt! The magistrate will marry us at our house and the open house will commence immediately!

Deb, after 22 years, is white appropriate? *snicker* :icon_heh::icon_rofl:

I had a girlfriend that got married in white overalls on New Year's Eve in the middle of a field.

Congrats! So exciting. My mom and step dad waiting a long time too. I kept teasing her that she was living in sin LOL - it was so much fun to get back at her. My DH and I lived together first and our youngest son was 9 months old when we got married :) She kept hounding us hehe - so I was jumping up and down when they moved in together :)

Can we do a skype wedding - that would be so awesome

Karen you crack me up...
