Ok im about to go buy thread ,fabric etc to start my very first project! Im not sure yet what Ill make but am kinda leaning toward doing a pillow case. I know the walmart in my area has some pretty quilted Hawaiian fabrics so I may start there! If anybody has any suggestions, tips or input of any kind PLEASE share your thoughts :) thanks

That sounds like a great place to begin. You're smart to start out with a small project.

A small project is the best way to start. No deadline is another. Not that I am speaking from experience or anything..... :) Lisa

What, no king size quilt as a first project?
Jenny's tutorial makes a really nice pillowcase, like Marilyn said. A table runner is a good first project as well.

Mug rugs are great for trying out new blocks and techniques. I found table runners a lot of fun. I have about a dozen or so hanging in the closet waiting to be quilted.... :)

Good idea starting out small, unlike myself that started to do queen size quilts. What a chore.
After I finish my 4 queen size keepsake quilts. I plan on going small for a bit.
