View Full Version : Prayers Please

April 15th, 2013, 12:49 AM
My Aunt Jan was found unconsious in her apartment on Saturday and one of her legs was blue. She was taken to the ER. Today they decided that she was probably in her apartment, unconcious since Thursday. They think she had a stroke. Today they did a lot of tests; x-rays found no broken bones, kidney and liver tests with no results that I know of yet, and a CT scan with no results that I know of yet. She was seriously dehydrated so she is on IV fluids. The last I heard she is semi-lucid.

Please pray for my Aunt. Her son, James, my cousin, is very concerned. I also have two cousins out of state. Thank you for your prayers.

Praying for her. When she is well and hopefully heading home you should check out a check on your elder service. My town police department has a morning call system. If your elder or disabled doesn't answer the phone they go and check on them. A lot of senior centers do that as well.

So sorry to hear about your aunt. If she lives alone, your family might consider looking into a system called "Life Alert". Homecare told me about it for my husband. If a person is alone and they have problems, fall etc, they wear a band (similar to a watch) or a pendant around their neck which they can push to get help. Apparently it's very effective. When the person does live alone, they phone them everyday to make sure they are okay, if they do not respond, they first call the family to check on the person and then emergency services.

Will add your aunt to my prayer list.

I heard from my cousin recently. His Mom had a stroke. He spoke to her on the phone Monday night and was in tears afterwards. He said that she just wasn't all there, mentally. After she get's out of the hospital she'll be in a Nursing Home until...don't know when. The doctors are worried about another blood clot so they are straining her blood, she can't be on blood thinners.

My Dad now wears a thing around his neck that he can push if he falls and can't get up. I'm so glad he got that!

Love to all.

I also have an Aunt Jan - will make sure to include both of them in my prayers. Mine has pneumonia and should be getting out of the hospital today. Strokes are terrible things, but often times there can be lots of improvement made with therapy. Keep thinking positively. Lisa
