Re: Does anyone own a Corgi?
That was my very first dog, according to stories I've heard, but I truly don't remember her.
Doesn't the Queen of England have Corgi's? Want me to send you her e-mail address . . .Sometimes, when there's a raging fire,

Re: Does anyone own a Corgi?
We had one for a while but she was very lonely after having been in a house with lots of other dogs. We were both working at the time and she was by herself during the day. She used her time to chew up lot of things. She was a delight but very destructive and shed like a bear might shed.Claire from Pelham, Alabama

Re: Does anyone own a Corgi?
Okay, Lorie.
You asked, and I am MORE than willing to look up. I have an Encyclopedia of Dog Breeders book that has been extremely useful over the years. I have loaned it to many, who are considering becoming dog owners. It's SO important to chose a breed that will fit with your lifestyle and surroundings!
So here goes, with 1-5 scale. (5 being the high, one being low. Go figure?)
Energy level - 3
Exercise requirement - 2
Playfullness - 3
Affection level - 3
Friendliness toward dogs - 1
Friendliness toward other pets - 4
Friendliness toward strangers - 3
Ease of training - 4
Watchdog ability - 5
Protection ability - 4
Grooming requirements - 1
Cold and heat tolerance - 3
And the last, which some of us should probably keep in mind, average life span - 10-12 years
This breed is in the herding group, so it's instinct is to herd. Maybe just a perfect fit for you to keep the wild boar in line!
One more little blip on temperament.
'Fun-loving and high spirited. yet easy going. The Cardigan (Welsh Corgi) is a devoted and amusing companion. This is a hardy breed, capable of a day dodging kicks, so it is agile and tireless. At home it is well mannered, but it is inclined to bark. It tends to be reserved with strangers but can be scrappy with other dogs.'
Hope this helps, Lorie!I really need to get off the exclamation point.
It may give people the idea that I'm bright and cheerful all the time....

Re: Does anyone own a Corgi?
We have two austrailian shepherds. Our aussie boy's breeder also bred corgis. One of her corgis was a nanny of sorts to the aussie pups to teach them manners. Isn't that cute? I guess she was an older corgi and if they got out of hand she would set them straight. I guess she did her job well, Ohgee is the sweetest dog ever. We ran into a corgi pup in training at Petsmart and if I didn't already have more pets than a sane person should, I would have gone and got me one, it was just so adorable.
