Hi, Quilty Friends!
A number of years ago, my daughter came home from a trip with a little ceramic thimble - you know, the kind they sell at souvenir shops at the airport? Well, I'm not really a collector-type person, but before I knew it, ALL my children and some of their friends started getting me ceramic thimbles from wherever they went. (Okay, I bought myself one in Bermuda, but it's really pretty!) Most of them, of course, are made in China, not in Oklahoma or London or the Bahamas... but I digress.
Here's my question: Do any of you know where I can find a display case for them? I have one that is made for spoons that I keep them in, but it's not a good solution, because the shelves are really only narrow ledges with slots cut out for the spoons to hang on, and my thimbles keep tipping off of them.
I have about 30 thimbles, mostly about 1/2 to 5/8" in diameter.

Any ideas would be most appreciated!

Blessings,

Hi Sally
I have seen thimble cases in the past while browsing through catalogs. Other than than, I would think a shadow box may work. Hobby lobby sells them in various sizes I think and some are unfinished so you could stain/paint as you would like to.

One of my shops owners has one behind the counter. Beautiful thimbles. I only own two that are decorative that were gifts. Google thimble cases or cabinets. The prices vary so much. Good luck on your search!

My Mom has a collection of thimbles and we got her a printers tray - used to hold the typset for a printing press. Put a glass front on it (slides up so she can keep adding) and she hangs it on the wall.
