Hi, Everyone,
Today is Thursday, and it occurs to me that here in the US we celebrate Thanksgiving on the fourth Thursday of November every year. But why not make every Thursday a day to give thanks? There is so much to be thankful for! For instance:

I am thankful for my daughter-in-love! Her DH (my son) forgot to put the lint trap back in the dryer night before last, and the canvas apron he wears to work (at a fast-food restaurant) got sucked into the motor, where it proceeded to make the most awful racket, and a burning fabric smell to boot. :icon_slap: No one in my house is very "handy," and I was really despairing over the situation. But my DIL is absolutely fearless (she married into my family, so she'd have to be! ) She got a screwdriver and took the thing apart (and yes, she did unplug it first), pulled out what was left of the apron, and now it works perfectly again. :icon_happy: So I am thankful to have dry laundry, thankful not to have had to spend $$$ on a new dryer, and so thankful that I don't have to go to jail for doing bodily harm to my son... although I'm thinking no jury of 12 mothers would have convicted me! :icon_woot:
I am also thankful for all my new quilty friends - you have been a blessing to me!
What are you thankful for?

My daughter in law is a computer programmer, she fixes my computers and cable TV everytime she comes to visit! Wished she lived next door, not 400 miles away. Of course, to get to her house, I do have to drive by Hamilton, Mo. And they live in Winterset, IA, home of Fons and Porter, so there are benefits of them living far away.

Glad your DIL fixed the dryer!

I'm so thankful for my dd#2 and Hubby. They opened their home to me back in 2005 and have made me feel like it is My Home .. no fights , no bickering over territory.. just lots of Thanks Mom for the little things I do around here. Like cooking enough for us all when I fix my meals.. sweeping up all the "hair" since I'm allergic..cleaning off the back patio each Spring and getting the Hot Tub ready for use. It benefits us all and they totally take care of all the bills and living expenses... Yes, We make a Good Team.

I get emotional when I count my many blessings...a loving family and terrific husband..Miss Molly is still with us after 14 years....I'm thankful for my home and that I am able to stay at home and make quilts all day every day if I choose...I have wonderful friends....our health...the list could go on forever, but one of my favorite blessings is being part of this forum and getting to know so many wonderful quilters!

Oh, you are all so lucky! I have a great DIL, too. She is a wonderful mother to my precious little GS, and supported my son while he was in grad school. Yes, we do have a lot to be thankful for. Sally, I would love to have your DIL nearby and Jean so sorry to hear that you have to drive through Hamilton to visit them in Winterset! How awful. And Judy, I say they are fortunate to have you!

What a wonderful thread! I am thankful for my DH who supports my crazy quilting fabric addiction and in fact encourages it. I'm thankful for my wonderful kids. I am thankful that my middle son Josh has been on a study medication for his cancer for so long and that it continues to work and break all the records, that he has a wonderful woman in his life to LIVE life with. I could go on and on and on.....and YES! I am thankful for this forum of wonderful peeps and Jenny Doan for opening up this phase of life to me!

What a wonderful idea! Remind us of "Thankful Thursday" every Thursday for a few weeks, until it "sticks" in this forgetful mind of mine... I try to count my blessings all the time, but putting it on the calendar, so to speak, is a dandy notion.

I'm always very thankful for my family, and for having a job in this economy. But lately I've been lucky enough to make a new friend, and am really enjoying getting to know her. So, today I'll be extra thankful for that!!

My brain knows there is an answer to why Thanksgiving is on that Thursday but I don't know how to pull it out right now.

I am very Thankful every day for my husband being alive. I fall asleep every night after praying my thanks to God for that. It took years for us to get together and we want more years together. I also thank God for my kids, grand kids and the ability to be together.

Being grateful is important. Something that we get so busy we forget to think about. Every day I ask my son what he is grateful for. Sometimes it's trains, sometimes it's Daddy, sometimes it's the meal we just ate. But I am trying to teach this little guy to look for the good and choose to be happy and make the best of things. He tends to worry and be negative.

Have a happy day!

Judy, that is wonderful :-). We recently gave my mother an assist in moving near us, which meant some long visits with us while her new house was in the purchase process, and things got a little tense. Kudos to you and your family for peacefully blending!

I am thankful for so many things. My DH who is the love of my life, my kids, my grandkids, the fact that my DGD Emily is so far, hanging in there. My DIL Heather, who is an angel from Heaven, and who amazes me every day! My friends, Dawn, Jan, Sandy, Gail, and Carol. All the wonderful friends from this site. The Doans, for this website and the Love they show us.
For the amazing world we live in, and for the Creator who gave it into our keeping. I can't say that we haven't messed it up, but I am thankful we have the chance to fix it. And for my Country, and the Men and Women who serve it. God Bless Them!!! We are so lucky to be born American. That is a few of my Blessings, Hugs, Jan L.

I am thankful I was able to leave work early and take my son to his 4 yr old checkup. I am thankful I didn't have to pay anything for that and that it went well. I am thankful they caught that his vision isn't perfect and that he will get to see a specialist at the hospital about it (I have suspected this since he sits so close to the computer/ipad and he has poor genes in this department since his daddy have needed glasses from a very young age). I am also grateful my 6 yr old daughter and I managed to bake sugar cookies without having the whole kitchen turn into one big mess. :D That could be because David got tired of waiting for the douh to come together enough to eat and left us to it. Two kids make ten times the mess of one lol.

I am eternally grateful I found this place and such a giving and fulfilling hobby. I am grateful hubby found a hobby he likes as much at roughly the same time (he takes krav maga classes) so there's a balance. I am grateful the weather was so nice that I could use my bike from work and get some exercise as well as fresh air!

The list goes on and on but I will stop now. ;)

I too have allot to be thankful for; I was just thinking that the other day after reading Ms. Daisy post about the bad news they received....I am fairly healthy, I have Steve, Sassi and Dakota, I have two jobs that I like, I have this forum and all the friends I have made here...I have a wonderful hobby, a roof over my head and food in the cupboards....I have family and I have God. I feel I am really blessed and compared to some I really don't have that many problems!

I have a lot to be thankful for..my family, health and this morning it was a simple single rose blooming on a plant the heat almost
killed..the beauty of that rose made me smile and be happy
that I am here in this place right now.
