Can Christmas so soon be over? In one breath I can say I'm sorry to see it move on and in the next I can say thank goodness its over.
We had a lovely dinner with our son Joe and his wife Heather Lea and granddaughters. My son insisted on cooking to give Heather a break. And my husband helped make steaks. My son also did a turkey breast. The whole dinner was delicious. And we had an ice creme cake to sing to for the Lord's birthday. It was yummy. My Dil did a wonderful job decorating the house. She had 4 Christmas trees up and they were all so perfect. She is a wonder. One of the most creative people I know. And she is an angel herself. We are blessed to have two great Dil's. And a Sil. But then we are blessed with all our children and grandchildren.
I hope your Christmas was a blessed time too.
Today I am making plans to go shopping with my gift card so I can buy the fabric needed for the block swap we are doing from MSQC. I can't wait. It will be later this week. hugs, Jan L

Morning everyone. We too had a real nice Christmas with one small glich. Mom's bus was to arrive on the 23 at 11:20 PM. My brother and my hubby went to pick her up in the neighbouring city which is 50 mins highway driving away. Her bus came in at 2 AMish so they got home here around 3AM. Mom insiisted on being feed and having some tea so close to 4 am on the 24th before I got to bed. So all my best laid plans were off for the 24th because of sleeping in late and being too tired to go to candlelight service that night at 11 PM. I so look forward to that service but sadly just couldn't make it. However other than that it was a wonderful Christmas. My family loved there quilts and pillowcases and my hubby gave me a beautiful opal pendant and a quilting magazine with a CD for 10 blocks! We had a great traditional turkey dinner and even used the good china. We played games watched some traditonal Christmas movies such as The Homecoming ( my fav) and enjoyed each others company. I am truly blessed! Sadly everyone heads out tomorrow but with wonderful memories. Hope everyone has a great day and takes it easy.
Big hugs to you all!

Hello everyone!

We had a wonderful Christmas. Had around 20 people out at my parents house where my brother and sister now live. The oldest being my brother who is 56 and youngest being 6 months old. It was good to see eveyrone and my 21 year old daughter had fun playing with all the little ones and their toys.:icon_razz:

Our son went back today. He has about a 5 hour drive.

Mother in law and brother in law opted to go eat at the casino with one of my husband's cousins and today has felt the need to gripe about not getting any turkey. I've done my best to keep my mouth shut. They are grown people with free will and made the decision to go to eat at the casino as all were invited to come out, but decided to do different.

Other than that it has been wonderful. Everyone have a blessed day!

Christmas - peaceful & relaxing
Wrote this to my blog friends, but then, read all of these, and decided to add my story.
For us, we celebrated with extended family on Christmas Eve, my Dad's 89th birthday. He was the center of attention as everyone sang "Happy Birthday" & saw him puff out all 9 candles with one big blow! Why 9, you ask. His 90th year & that many candles would have burned my face as I carried the cake over to his chair! How happy he was to watch part of his family (19/74 members) interact. A ping pong championship tournament tradition gave entertainment, & he longed to beat us all as he did 20 years ago!
Christmas came quietly at our house. Only the 3 of us. We invited a young couple for our traditional turkey dinner & ended the evening playing "Mexican Train" until Dad called it a day.

Love to hear your stories! Debi

O wow, I'm so glad all of you had such a wonderful holiday. I had planed to be a slug today after I came home from church, but that didnt happen. I spent it with my sissy and mom and I got home at 6pm. But I had a fab time though. Now Im gonna chill until bedtime. Jan Im jealous you got a cg to JoAnns. Lucky girl. I didnt do any decorating this year, so I have now mess to clean up. I alsoo put cap on spending. Im proud of myself because I stuck to it. I was kinda worried my daughter would be disapointed that she only got one thing. She wanted a Kindle and its pricey and I went ahead and got it for her anyway. So she was stoked when she opened it. She knew she was getting it, but we still wrapped it and put it under the snowman/ tree. Plus shes in her 20's and knows whats going on around here so she was totally cool with it. BTW from experence I can say this, dont ever not put up a tree. I didnt put one up this year because of health issue. Well it just plan sucks without a tree. Me nd my daughter both agrred on that yesterday morning, so we have a tree from now on. Well gals I gott go for now. Take care love ya all!!

We live next door to a childcare center and at 2:00 am their heater started making a knocking noise and we didn't know what it was going to do,so we called the police and they sent the highway patrol out. They said the childcare center was in the city limits and they couldn't help us. I asked if they saw a number on the door in case of emergenacy and they said they didn't and for us to call the town police. So of course we did and waited up for them. By this time it was 3:00am, well the police came by but didn't stop to tell us anything so My hubby called them again and they said they heard the noise and called the lady in charge of the place and she said "We have 11 heaters but noone would go out to look at it bc it was snowing hard and was Christmas. My hubby said to the police how are we going to sleep with this noise and what if it burns and the police said "The Lord works in mysteries ways" LOL So we went back to bed about 4:00 and tried not to hear the noise. We got 10 inches of snow so noone will be out here till Wed probably. Sorry to be so long but had to get that off my chest!!!!!! Thanks for listening!

Hi everyone! I guess Sunday is almost over and we have about 363 days until Christmas next year! Better get started on those new projects - lol!
Well, not the best Christmas here, had some family squabbling, but we are past it now. Maybe next year will be better.
Odie leaves tomorrow so I'll be a worried mom once again. Just don't know when we'll see him again. He seemed to get through the first 13 weeks of Marine training, so I'm sure he'll do okay for the next 5 weeks.
We have been waiting on the snow to arrive since Friday and we have been lucky if we've gotten a flake here and there. Fine by me! If we don't get any by the morning, that means I can take him to the airport.
He is headed to North Carolina so Blondie - open up the welcome mat!

I posted lots of new photos in my album so be sure to check them out.
Guess I better call it a day and get some rest. Looks like tomorrow could be a long day. See ya all tomorrow.

Hugs,

We had a nice Christmas. We went to my mom's for the morning insanity. She did a much better job of controlling her compulsion to over do Christmas gifting. She sees things that she thinks we would like and picks them up all year long. I try to spread out the shopping myself, so I am OK with year 'round shopping as long as it doesn't get to the overload stage. We were all working on a much tighter budget this year so I think that helped too.
Today was a fairly quiet day here. I did get the 5 batches of Chex mix done and the last few cookie baskets for the neighbors finished. I'll deliver the last one tomorrow. She was sick with a cold and didn't want to share the ickies. (Thank you!)
I have to finish an art pouch for Christmas 2010 2.0 and figure out if I want to make dinner rolls or stop and buy them. We have some relatives from California flying in tomorrow and we'll do the belated Christmas Eve dinner tomorrow.
Christmas 2010 3.0 will be on New Year's day with my Mom's family. The schedule is a bit drawn out, but it keeps us from going insane on the 25th!
Today was slug day for Daddy & Em. He spent most of the day watching Turner Classic Movie channel. They were playing the classic Disney movies like Swiss Family Robinson and Herbie the Love Bug. He mixed in a few bits of WhaleWars and a new samurai movies he got for Christmas. She spent the day irritating me with her new ZhuZhu pet hamster. The only hard, flat surfaces in our home are the bathroom and kitchen floors. So the kitchen it was. Those things are noisy and they make a whining sound. I hate whining. I certainly hope the batteries wear out soon.
Tomorrow "should" be a productive day. We have to get the bedroom redone so the new bed can be brought in when it arrives. The old waterbed frame is too narrow to hold the new mattress. Hubby promised that he would finish refinishing the desk set and take care of the bed this week while he was off of work. I was also hoping to squeeze out the closet purging and organizing. We have all of the pieces for the closet organizer. It just needs to be put up. I have to be out of the house by 8 to have Em to speech by 9. Hopefully that will prompt him to get out to the shop to work on the desk. We'll see. The week will go by a lot faster than he thinks.

Glad to hear so many of you had a good Christmas. I think that a tree is a must, even if it is only a small one. That and the nativity set. Ours is currently by Fisher Price and is composed of Little People, but it has all of the main characters and can't be broken. It really is cute and I like it better than some of the creepy grown up ones.
Well, I had better get the art pouch done so I can get some sleep.
Take care!
Cathy
