Love your pics, we have a lot of bird friends too. DH puts out feed for them everyday along with the corn for the squirrels. I LOVE watching them especially the squirrels...they are SO fun!

Nice!! I love taking pics of the birds....love getting the blue jays and the challenge of getting the hummingbirds. I love to sit on the patio and watch the birds, squirrels and whatever other critters come our way.

We have male Titmouse and Cardinals that run into our window constantly driving our cats (and us) crazy. The windows do have a film on them, and they think it is another male bird to attack. We have a lot of squirrels, too.

AHA! The same birds that seem to grace my yard!
We have a big, migratory influx in about 3-4 weeks, and it begins to sound like a tropical rain forest here.
I CAN'T wait.
29 days till spring! WOOHOO!

Donna, your pictures are great! Love them all, but Sammy can be a nuisance!

That's what I miss the most about living in the country, the huge collections of birds that landed on our property in Crawford County, including water birds, because we had a huge pond/ small lake. Mergansers, wood ducks, cormorants, osprey, kingfisher, herons, various common ducks and geese, turkey. Then the songbirds, including various woodpeckers, all colors of birds, reds, blues, orioles, common nuthatches, phoebes ( she made her nest every year on my porch!). And the bluebirds! They would perch in the top of the tree to catch the first warming rays of the sun each winter day. I cried when I had to leave because of the birds. But we have a real treat here in suburbia, a pair of red tail hawks breed in a tree across the street, and they teach their young to hunt in our back yard. So we get to see that up close and personal every season! And because the space is open, you can see the owls " wooing"--making whooppee on the church steeple that backs up to my house. so suburbia isn't so bad for birdwatching after all.

Love the pics - you did a great job capturing your visitors' mug shots, lol. I'm working on attracting more here in WV, I get lots of downy woodpeckers and flickers, juncos, some carolina wrens, doves, sparrows, titmouses (titmice?), nuthatches, and eastern goldfinches are just starting to turn greenish... but my Mom lives 20 minutes away and gets TONS of finches and cardinals, so I need to add feeders, I think.

We should have have babies on the creek soon....the ducks will be floating with all the babies following. When they are "very" new they are a bright green....so cute. I will try to get a good photo of them. Will need to zoom because they'll move away quickly if we get too close.

You're so lucky to have such interesting birds come to see you! Love Mrs. Squirrel. My sister gets little chipmunks where she lives in Richmond. Thanks, again, for posting. I love seeing pictures on -line. Nothing like the visual!

Love the pics! We don't have Cardinals, and I would LOVE to see one for real. Just about everything else you've got pictured here I've got in my yard. We also have wild canaries. One warm Summer evening I hung my canary in his cage out on the deck, and he was conversing with one of these wild ones. I sat and watched and eventually he flew over and landed on the cage! It was a sight to see, and it literally took my breath away. They sat there and chirped at one another for a few minutes and off he flew.

When we first moved here we noticed there were three bird feeders hung way up in the trees on pullies to fill them, 10 hummingbird feeders suspended on poles throughout the yard and deck, two squirrel corn feeders and a nut house. My DH had a full evening EVERY evening keeping all these feeders full. We were buying peanuts in 50 pound sacks from the feed store! We had more of Sammy's relatives then you could shake a stick at! My DH grew weary of all the work and so slacked off on his chores. Those squirrels found those nuts out in the shed and ate every one of them, leaving neat little piles of shells everywhere! Now we keep the bird feeders going and the hummingbird feeders full. I go through about a gallon of nectar a week in peak times. Hummers are my favorites!

Miss having lots of birds in our back yard. Used to have 4 big trees and about 100 feet of privet hedge that they loved to hide in, especially the male cardinal on his way to the bird feeders. Cardnials seem to like to feed by themselves. We had squirrel proof feeders but those sneaky squirrels did eat their way into the plastic tote of feed in our back yard shed. Sadly the 40 year old privet hedge grew too thick for me to take care of and the trees eventually were cut down because of disease so no birds hanging out in the yard any longer.

We don't have the Junco but have seen the other birds at our feeder. I just recently saw blue birds for the first time ever. I love feeding them. They are just so pretty.

Love the birdies in my backyard! I have a big copper beech tree outside my kitchen window, and I love to watch them on the feeder that hangs from one of the branches! I learned a couple of years ago that squirrels do not like safflower seeds, so that is all I put in the feeder now. So the cardinals, tufted titmice, finches, nuthatches, and occasional woodpeckers visit me throughout the winter.

Donna, love the pics of your backyard visitors. We have tons of birds and critters too. On those warmer days last week, we must have had 150 robins in the yard, and dozens of cardinals. I believe the bird you aren't sure of is a house wren. We had a pair nest in one of my hanging baskets last year. We have so many squirrels, we didn't get one tomato out of our garden last summer. They were eating because of the drought. We also have chipmunks, that live under my patio and deck. Occasionally we even get a deer wandering through, that we manage to get a glimpse of. The joys of living in the country.

My favorite part of the morning, having coffee and watching the birds feed on our deck, (we only feed them there in the winter-keeps the seed from being eaten by the deer) The same type, titmouse, cardinals, jays, junco's, sparrows, and finches, all entertain us. One of my favorite is the red headed wood pecker, he is one of the few birds that store food, so he comes ,gathers seeds, goes back to his nest and comes back again to fill up. The squirrels have not been on the deck this year, don't know why. This year the shy mourning doves have visited us as well. Love their call. Thanks for the pics!

Thank you for sharing your pictures! I spent 11 yrs in Alabama and loved all the birds and other creatures that came to visit. Now I live in the desert and all I see are black birds, finch, sparrows, and, of course, pigeons. Occasionally we see a small lizard, but I don't like those. While in Alabama I had two fox that would play in my backyard! Love it!

Thank you again!
