View Full Version : Are you jealous?

I never have a moment by myself. When I say that I mean I NEVER am alone. Either my dh is here or my dd & dgs are here...all day every day. Don't get me wrong, I love them with my life but when you're stuck in the house, not allowed to drive, it feels like I'm trapped. Well, this weekend, yes the whole weekend I will be ALONE! DH is on a business trip, dd and dgs are spending the weekend elsewhere, hence the question, ,, are you jealous? ? If it wasn't me I would be. Hehe. It will be a quilting weekend for sure. I'm going in my sewing room in a few minutes in my pajamas and I'm not coming out til I hear that front door slam Sunday night!

Enjoy! I live on my own so appreciate the space and time to do what I want.

Dang, girlfriend. I would wear one of those diapers so I wouldn't have to stop and worry about one of those Oops moments.
And yes, my blue eyes just turned a shade of green. Now get off the 'puter and SEW. Yay for YOU.

Have a wonderful weekend sewing.

Grab that time and ride it to the last second! Then tell everyone as you pass them at the door on their return......feed yourselves, I've been sewing and now I'm exhausted. Night!!! Go to bed, and snuggle down with a cup of tea and a good book. Don't let them see how energized you are, they will ask you to cook or do laundry. Trust me, I know. Let them know, you are not on the clock till Monday morning! You go girl!! Hugs, Jan L.

Have a great time with your alone time! There was a time when I had zero time alone...24/7. If you could call it alone time, I had the two minute drive to work alone five days a week. Gee, that was 10 whole minutes a week...not even enough time to listen to a song on the radio! ENJOY and don't even get dressed! Hugs, Barb

I completely know what you mean. I love my husband but when he goes away for a couple days, I do a little happy dance. Just wish I could convince him to take the dog with him.

Good for you...I know about the never having alone time and when you get it, it's so precious.

Oh and Blondie's idea....don't do that....that's just nasty!!! Lol

Donna you enjoy yourself this weekend! I find when I have lots of time to go into the sewing room that it is great therapy.

Donna, I'm sew jealous! ENJOY! I hope you took a few snacks in with you...you gotta have a little nourishment, ya know!

Have fun and sew, sew, sew! I know exactly what you mean and I take advantage of any alone time I get, because I don't get it often.

January 5th, 2013, 10:34 AM
Have fun sewing during your alone time............but I would suggest stopping to eat occasionally & a bathroom break or two! Just a thought!!! :D

Yay for you, Donna!! My dh used to have to work on Sundays. We really hated that since we never really had a full weekend to do things unless he took a day off. However, while he was at work on those days, I would enjoy my whole day to myself. I wasn't into sewing/quilting as much back then but did a lot of scrapbooking. In turn, on his other day off (which was right in the middle of the week) he did things that he enjoyed too. Have a wonderful weekend!

I know that feeling!! Lucky you! Have a wonderful time!

Enjoy...I get it. we are both retired and sometimes I could just scream because he keeps TV on a channel that totally annoys me. Even when he goes outside he leaves it on. I turn it off for the quiet. I was a teacher and just love being alone, quiet, etc. My daughter lives alone and always tells me how lonely it can be. I get that but sometimes...alone and quiet or music, TV, etc. of your choosing is heavenly!!

Oh that would be so nice. I love it when my DH goes away for the weekend. He has a show on the 19th and 20th so he will be leaving on the 18th.....I am looking forward to it.

Donna, you lucky girl. My mom would on rare occasion take the "weekend" off. She would not do a thing but what she wanted, wouldn't answer to "mom", and generally blew us all off for two days. Now having been a mother, I can totally understand. This month I am going to fly here down to see her brother in northern California and then down here to stay with us for awhile. My goal is to spoil her as much as I can.

No. I had my daughter when I was 20. I was never alone until she went to her grandparents for the weekend with the dog and hubby went to his mothers for the night 4th of July weekend in 2003. I was alone, truly alone. I hated it. I am home with my dogs only when hubby is at work and son is at school during the week and that is enough alone for me. I wonder if it has something to do with having 8 siblings.

YES! I am!

DD and DGS live with us too, and dh works from home. I am home all day every day too. Since I take care of 2 yr old dgs when dd has to work and go to school, I TREASURE those rare times when it's just me and my dog!

The dog stays with me, no matter what. She is the only one I never need a break from.

I don't have the green eyed monster only because if I am not at work I am alone, me and Sassy and Dakota....Steve is only home for a day or two every three to four weeks; enjoy my time with him and am glad to see him go again! LOL It is like having a child when he is home...I love him dearly but spend the time going behind him shutting off lights, picking up glasses and so on...you get the idea. I for the most part enjoy my time at home....spend time on the computer and in the sewing room, I can always go out for coffee or something if I get too lonely! Also both of my jobs require dealing with the public so I get enough interaction there to last me all day!

I would be jealous but I'm having at least 2 hours of "alone time" :D as Don is doing Plan Revisions on a remodel job. Yea Woo! Love the dude, yet I'm used to being at my office for long, long hours. lol Plus we're in 640 sq. ft. with NO WHERE to hide from each other!

I'm going to get back to putting fabric in order and hopefully do some sewing if my back allows. Otherwise on the sofa with my Kindle and a cyberbook. :D

Enjoy your sewing time, farting around with noone to bug you. lol

I really enjoy my alone time so I can sew as well. I use to have those days where I never had time to myself, but that has changed since my kids are older and are working all the time. My husband works midnights, so that's nice as well. At first, i hated being alone because I was so used to the kids being home. Now, I absolutely love it!

January 5th, 2013, 05:41 PM
Enjoy that time!
