Good Morning, Folksies!

Hoping everyone is awake, happy, counting the days down or not, just be sure you are happy.

Mom's appt with the retina specialist yesterday was one of those appts where they are fitting her in. Do I need to add that we hurried in the dark, foggy morning just to sit and wait? Got home late afternoon. Dashed Mom's hopes of thrift shopping. She has had a breakthrough of her vein so he had to give her another shot in her eye and prescription. Called her cardiologist to get her BP meds whatever he wants to do with it and now waiting on that call. The only thing that maintained me yesterday was caffeinne. I mean this most sincerely. And NANAB - Becki, if you have need to go to GSBO to Moses Cone - or to the Wendover Ave area near Moses Cone - girlfriend there is a new coffee house on the corner there - Organic Beans; white building - their coffee is BETTER than Starbucks and is only ONE BUCK for a large. And very friendly in a thirty-something guy kind of way. The two guys working there reminded me of my sons. Down to the baby girl on his hip. Anyone living in and around the Greensboro NC area, please go and support these kids. Great coffee, locally made muffins to go with as well. I highly recommend the pumpkin chocolate chip. My sis gives kudos to the chocolate marble cheesecake. We both say, yum on the coffee.

So, it's Tuesday. That means the past three days have been a blur and I have not been home long enough to do more than brush my teeth. Not long enough to feel like ME. You know, living a leisurely life, just surfing the net, sewing whenever and letting the good fairies who I received from somewhere do all my housework.
I don't do shopping well as I've told you I don't like crowds. Everyplace this time of year is crowded. I dislike driving on foggy rainy days like yesterday. I am drained feeling, so I reckon that means I need to have my grand dogs over today and get on the floor and play with them. Of course, you may not hear from me again until the ?? if'n I can't get back up off that floor! Those two babies love me. And I sure love them, even if they do bury my phone and pounce me like tigger does pooh.

Love to my sisters here. Enjoy the day, prayers for each one needing it, not forgetting those with the most urgent needs more frequently.

Good morning Blondie! I may not be fully awake, but I certainly am happy! Finally getting MIL's table runner finished, binding is getting done and should be complete very soon :D I gave her a peek last night via webcam and she was VERY excited, so that's a great motivator. I usually catch these posts late at night when they're practically expired, so it's been nice the past few mornings to catch them and actually be able to post :)

Sorry to hear your mom's appointment was a dud. I hate it when they do that! Especially if it's a specialist appointment that you've been waiting a while for. I hope she gets everything cleared up soon. Nothing worse than sitting at home and waiting.

And I hear you on the driving in crappy weather and the crowds. DH is the only one willing to shop at the mall anymore. He goes in and I'm like the crabby old man that sits out in the car and waits lol Thank God for sudoku on my phone :D Speaking of phones, be sure to keep yours away from that curious little pooch from now on lol

I wish everyone a great day! And don't let the hustle and bustle of gift shopping and making take away the true meaning of the season :)

Good Morning! Been up since 3:30 and enjoying my coffee now. I agree with both Blondie and Dee about the crowds and driving in the rain. I enjoy shopping the rest of the year, but I do most of my Christmas shopping online now and I dread it when I have to go to the stores. Our Christmas gifts for the grandkids are on a UPS truck headed for New York. It's always a relief to get them shipped. It's cold here this morning, but it's not raining....that's a good thing!

Wishing everyone a terrific Tuesday!

Good morning Blondie and Dee and Myrna. I hope you all have a fantastic day.

I made it to work just fine yesterday. I took my time and got there just fine. Trip home was good too. AND hubby so kindly made me supper for a change. I did not get everything done that I had brought with me. I did hem two pairs of pants. Today I will be more organized. I work again today. I need to get out and get some shopping done SOON!!

My poor mother-in-law was writing Christmas cards last night. She called to get the boy's addresses. Then she called back to verify who Greg was married to. Her mind is starting to slip. It has been for a while. I know she is lonely since my father-in-law died a couple of years ago. It is so sad. I try and call her every day or at least every second day.

On a brighter note, this coming weekend we are going to Greg & Roxy's place for the weekend. This is son #1 who recently moved back this way. I am excited. We may even take a little trip to Burlington, Vermont too.

So that is what my week is shaping UP to be. Hope you all have a wonderful day!

Morning all. I feel so far behind on the forum. I haven't really been on in days. I've spent virtually every spare moment finishing up my Christmas gifts and I can now say that the ones that need to be mailed are in the car and ready to take to UPS and the post office! I feel like I can breath a sigh of relief. I'll post some pics later on.

My DH took the day off yeserday and we shopped. That was fun, but I am tired today! Work is on my docket for today, so maybe I can rest there!

Have a great day everyone.

Ah. Gulp.. ummm coffee. I have been told that I have been missed.. I have no real explanation..
well lets see, Miss Blondie you look gorgeous... my hair is a absolute mess.. i am growing it out..i am still living with my Mom. she is oh I don't know.. good..we her kids are starting to notice she is loosing her memory. this is sad. and very frightening...and of coarse she isn't willing to go to the dr.. grrrr.. but we are here for her and so are her sons..the saddest part for me is my Mom has no patients for her grand Daughter. who is 9 and a haft. ( the haft part is important to DD)
so today is my Haft birthday . the folks up in Grand Rapids encourage the 1/2 b-day for the summer birthday kids..so there is all this fan fare .. lalalala...
I am still at Joann's hey i got a raise.. .10 cents.. a raise is a raise..and i really do love my job..i need to finish some projects..i have no sewing space..but i bought a new tun to store new fabrics. a tip out there.. remnants are a great value.. any old where. i have a goal for a new quilt.. deer skin and elks from Tandy leather.. it is just a some day thing...but the boys and girls at Tandy here in Fargo are very excited. for it...okay i will be out here later i most go get DD off to school... oh my real age.. 47 1/2

Good Morning,

I had a good day yesterday....sewed off and on all day and went fabric shopping in the afternoon. We had a simple dinner last night, so the clean up wasn't much of anything.

Blondie, how awful for your Mom having to get a shot in her eye. I hope a change in her BP meds will prevent that happening again. I know it was a long hard day for you...

I need to write some Christmas cards today and get them in the mail. I'm done with the little bit of Christmas shopping I did this year. My grandkids prefer money and that's so easy to do! I quit stressing about Christmas several years ago and I love it this way. There may be some Christmas cookies in our near future!

I'm almost done making sock moneky blocks and then my sewing room will be closed until the new year. I know I said that a week or so ago, then I got bored and dug out the monkey fabric. I mean it this time!

Wishing all of you a wonderful day....Hugs, Barb

Good mornin'...

Another day, another dollar (but by the time taxes are taken from my dollar I have about .10 left). It's cold here - 33 degrees right now and itty bitty snowflakes coming down. I don't think we are supposed to have any accumulation (at least I hope not) I hate to drive in that stuff.

I got my Christmas shopping finished up yesterday. My daughter and I went to Kmart since that's the only place that had what I was looking for. Got stocking stuffers for the grands....they were having an awesome 1/2 off sale on a lot of merchandise. So now I have to find (bribe, threaten) someone to wrap all the gifts for me.

Well must get to work.....have a wonderful day! Prayers and hugs to all.

Morning, Another rainy morning, and cold too. Had a good shopping trip yesterday so today I'll gather all the Christmas gifts and organize them by family or friends and begin wrapping and packing the ones that have to be mailed. Need to bake some cookies to add to the packages as well as a few mug rugs and get them off to PO as soon as possible. Need to do something else but can't think of it right now as I haven't had any coffee yet, it's still brewing up in the kitchen.

Got a shock yesterday when I read the note in his Christmas card that he and his wife are enjoying their retirement. What? I can't have a nephew old enough to retire. Had to think a bit and realized that Michael began working for the Federal Gov't right out of college and that was more than 30 years ago. He's 57, just 6 months older than my oldest son Bob and I can't see Bob retiring yet as he has a mortage on his home, a DD about to be married and another DD in college. Come to think of it son Pat's wife, MJ, mentioned something about moving to PA in a few years - that would have to be after she and Pat retired as their jobs are local ones, not ones with offices in PA. Coffee is done and boy do I need it this morning. May in Jersey

Hi-dee-ho everyone. Taking a couple of minutes to 'rest' after getting up EARLY to prepare a dish for our quilting bee party today. Whew. Now I know why I don't cook so much any more!!! Blondie, I thought about you yesterday. Wondered if you took Mom to Bowman Gray/Baptist or to GSO. Thanks for the info about the coffee shop. I'll have to check it out. I 'wasted' all day yesterday reading my favorite author. Diane Chamberlain. I recommend her highly. Doesn't hurt that she's a 'local' gal--North Carolina/South Carolina/Virginia. I REALLY should have quilted yesterday. At least I'm not quilting (yet) for Christmas. Gotta jump in the shower and head to the hills. Hope everyone has a great day.

Morning All,
I'm having a pity party here. Been up all night with a stomach bug. Hated calling into work.....flu season & we are slammed. I have 3 quilts to finish before Christmas and my tree isn't even up. The topper is tomorrow is my birthday.......hope I'm not sick.
Deep breath...ok I'm done. Have a great day all. I'm off to bed

Becki, she had been going to Southeastern Eye Center but Dr Matthews, their retina man left there and it appears he has joined the Moses Cone bandwagon. He seemed surprised yet happy that SE gave her his new number. His new digs are right down the street from Cone. Of course, Mom didn't bother to tell me this until I was pulling into Southeastern and she said, Dear, you need to go to Carol street. WHAT? Where in the heckfire shoot is Carol street? Turns out it was Carolina Street. Oh yeah, fun morning. Now you know why good coffee is necessary for me. I smiled through all the wrong turns.
And yes, please tell your GSO friends about the shop. They make everything that starbucks can and save beaucoup dollars.
I like to support small business anyway and know that you do as well.
Hugs girlfriend! Shake a leg at that Christmas stuff!

Happy Tuesday. Boy, time is whizzing by. Blondie, I know I have told you before but want to tell you again. YOU ARE AN AWESOME DAUGHTER! Heckfire shoot, you are an amazing person, period. Love to hear your stories.

Love to hear everyone's story on the forum! A great place to be, for sure.

Today I'm working on organizing for the holiday. The grandgirls are spending an overnight with us in a couple of days and have to get their gifts wrapped and hidden! Tomorrow will be cleaning out the sewing room of a dear friend who died a few months back. Her husband asked for the help. I miss her terribly, but know I will get great comfort in using a tool that she used.

Have a great day, you special Quilting Friends.

My first day back in the workforce!! And right before Christmas, too. Don't know how long I'll be there today (hoping I'm back early enough to attend the woodworker's guild Christmas dinner with Al). Don't know much about this job except it is 'hard work'. We'll be tagging and pricing and probably arranging a bunch of farm equipment at a down-sizing sale (wish it was at my house). Hope I'm up to it - think there will be physical labor included and I had to have Al put on my sneakers today - first time in about 5 years that I've had them on and I can't reach to tie the right one since my knee surgery.

So, you'all take care, don't work too hard, enjoy your day and if you have the time, keep stitching.

Good morning everyone!
I know I've been in and out of here in the last couple of days but I'm not sure if I thanked everyone for your birthday wishes so.....
Thank you everyone for all the wonderful birthday wishes! I had a great day. Went shopping with my daughters and they took me to lunch.
Sunday I did some cleaning and then I cut out 195 5" squares out of 12 different fabrics and 780 1 1/2" squares out of just one fabric. Yesterday I sewed together 195 snowball blocks, laid them out on the floor, put them in piles and marked them by rows and got 1 row sewn together before bed.
Today, hubby and I are going to go finish our Christmas shopping and get our tree! By the time I get home, I should only need a few stocking stuffers...I hope! Then later on, it's back to the sewing room to try and get the rest of my snowballs sewn together. I won't decorate the tree until tomorrow...I like to let the branches fall a little bit first.
Well, I gotta go do a little more reading, have another cup and then off to the stores!
Hope everyone has a great day! Good thoughts and prayers for everyone!
For all with this lousy flu that is going around, stay in bed, get rest and get better soon!

Good morning to all. I got to sleep in a bit until DH let MonkeyButt (kitten) in and she decided she just HAD to say Good Morning to me. :) Love my critters.
I did a little more sewing on my rope bowl yesterday. I can't sit for long because my sewing table is near the wood stove and that thing is cranking out the heat! Hopefully I will get it finished today. I know we are going to town later this afternoon so I will try to get it done before we go, if not I'll finish it when we get home.
Other than that not much happening here on the mountain. Take care all.
Hugs and prayers to all.

Hi everyone............I'm heading out the door to go sort books again. We have about 39 boxes waiting for us and might have that many more being donated from someone who was a book collector. Prayers to all that are in need of them. So thankful for all of you forum friends.....have a great day!

Morning all,

Hurricane season was to end on Nov 30th! Well, the 50' feet of glass windows/patio doors were rattling all night and whistling! Didn't sleep at all. :( How am I to get my beauty sleep? God knows I need it at this age!

Waiting for Don to make my cup of Johan, I do like those commercials. Makes me feel like I'm back in Europe on vacation on a terrace somewhere. Really need my coffee after all the coffee talk from sis Blondie. :D

Still trying to get my sewing Mojo back or more like my Emotional Mojo back. With Matt being so sick these last 6 weeks, I lost my drive and I can't seem to jump start it again. I so need to light a fire under my tush, if anyone has any ideas let me know. Time is running out...Xmas is fastly approaching. :(

Don's Classic Car dudes are meeting up at noon in Kapolei, he'll need to wash the Mustang. It's been under the carcover but it will need some loving. I ironed a scrap bag I won yesterday, we'll see if I can be creative this morning. lol Let's hope.

Prayers for those who need it, hugs for all! Ruby

It's Tuesday, another day closer to Christmas and I am not ready. I just can't get into the spirit this year. I am a dud and with my mother and daughter having done their shopping early I don't have any great ideas for my son or granddaughter. I am going to be out all next week shopping to finish I guess.

I am focusing on quilting, cleaning, laundry and calling unemployment to chase down a missing check. I need some time wandering in the woods but it rained all day yesterday, all night and this morning so it is too wet for me. The dogs would love it but I don't.

I hope those of you that are tired and/or under the weather feel better and that you all have something unexpected make you smile today.

Happy Tuesday!

Today our Ruth Circle at my church goes to their Christmas luncheon at a lovely restored Victorian Bed & Breakfast. Looking forward to the company, conversation and ambiance ! Then I'll go to Target for a few things and to the mall (ugh) to finish up DD's gifts, she arrives on Sunday and I have to wrap hers and my mom wants a gift card, so I have to go. This week is very busy for me, I have plans every day to finish all the necessary things so I can enjoy the two weeks we have with my DD. (However, I also know "the best laid plans of mice and men etc etc......") So many people here ill with respiratory illness', please all be well, be safe.

Lisa, forgive me, I just noticed your post after I posted my la-de-da about my day. I will pray for you to feel better and lift your spirits, you sound as if you are going thru a great deal which can be magnified during these hectic days. Try to get out in the light, I know you have been having a good deal of rain in your neck of the woods. I hope you get a day of sunshine soon. Know that I am thinking of you, and praying to lift your spirits.

I woke up to a light covering of snow. not really surprised - there was a bit of snow/ice on the truck when I left work this morning. I need to start wrapping gifts, too. I have one gift That will be cutting it close on delivery for Christmas. It was a last minute decision, something DS really needs and I could do better buying online. It will also mean setting aside what i already bought him - that will reappear as a birthday gift next month.
The only wrapping i've done so far has been the gifts for the giving tree at church. A bit annoyed because i bought new tissue paper and boxes a couple weeks ago and now can't find them. I hope they didn't get left in the back of DH's truck.

Good morning, everyone. I love to read your stories. I am off work today so I will take my last two finals of the semester. Then I will sew sew sew for a month until next semester starts. My first project will be a baby quilt for my niece (she is having a daughter named Lola). Then I will finish my Christmas quilt. It is cold here this week, and I sure wish I had it to snuggle under.

Blondie, our 81 year old mother lives with us and we have similar doctor appointment experiences. Caffeine is our friend, too. Sometimes it is a struggle, but I love having her with us, and don't know if anyone else would care for her the way we do. I know her quality of life is better being right here.

I feel so blessed this Christmas season for so many reasons. When I started quilting, I had no idea I would be involved in a forum like this. You are all so helpful and open, such a blessing. Thanks.

Good Day All. Blondie, you are such a wonderful daughter. Been down that road with my mom, so I know how that goes. Sandy, do try to NOT over do it today. Ruby, just jump in with both feet, and you will be inspired before you know it. Will try to do something productive, now that I am feeling a little better, and not itching like the dickens. To much to do to get ready for Christmas, and not where near enough time. Can we post pone it a week? Hugs and blessings to all, prayers for those in need.
