Happy Monday Folksies

Here I am, even though I didn't think I would make it in. Good Lawdie, I have been awake since 2:15 a.m. Wide awake and all that jazz. I was not a bit happy that I had to make the coffee up myself. I am such a rotten person. As in spoiled. Oh well, let the sweet, luscious man sleep a bit more.

The past few hours I have been gorging myself on the net. I really don't spend that much time on the internet these past few months. It is such an addictive force that I have shared with you in the past that I set my minute timer and have become quite a militant person. That way, I can get things done and reward myself with ten minute increments. Well, I think I have used up the next 2 weeks worth of 10 minutes! LOL. I was hoping the computer screen would make my eyes tired. No. such. luck.

Here's to a wonderful Monday - great Labor Day cook out, sale shopping, whatever you do, have FUN. Oh ~ and don't forget to SMILE.

Well Blondie, here's hoping you get a nap in sometime.... been working on a dresden with a fall theme for DD's table - she puts the S&P on it and wants one for fall. But the kids have been having cousins for sleep overs and they were playing with my scraps - THEY ARE STILL AWAKE!! Uggg, I like it when I'm the only one up all hours! Was going to have the dresden done as a surprise for Lissa but gave up on that - guess that's all the extremely unimportant news I have - Enjoy your day - Holiday or not...and see my signature line.....

Good morning Blondie and Kathy. Blondie, glad you made it. I was going to start the day for you. Well, we made it to Wilkes-Barre, PA yesterday. We left at 5am. I just can't sleep very long anymore. I get up to pee and can't get back to sleep. UGH! My ankle was swollen quite a bit. We went to the Mohegan Sun casino and they had entertainment. We hung around. I played the slots. I put $20 in the machine hit the play button a few times and won $50. I cashed out. LOL!! Played a little while again, cashed out at $48.50. Can you tell I am not a big gambler.

I want to get some shopping in while I am here. I don't know if they have quilt shops or not, but that is ok. I will be back this way next week, on my quilt trip. There is an Italian festival in Scranton today. We might check that out. Tonight they have races at the track, so I think that is on the agenda. I see the effects from Isaac will affect us here mostly tomorrow.

Have a wonderful day everyone. I will surely try and have one here.

I should get a timer too. Makes you wonder what we did before the Internet. And even what held my attention before MSQC and Pinterest..lol. Have a great holiday all. This is my last day off. Preschool starts tomorrow with the kids. I have a small class this year which means we have time to add more fun!

Good Morning... I'm not quite awake yet. I am like Monique this morning.. bathroom call and can't get back to sleep.
No plans for this day.. just to enjoy it and Duck when stuff starts flyin at me.

Working on a couple UFO's and not starting anything new til they are done....I will have to start limiting my time on this "beast" (computor) if I ever want to finish them. I feel so spoilt... doin' what I want and no one to answer to. Widowed and retired has it's advantages at times.

Hugs and prayers to all.

Good Morning All, I see there are a few like me who wake up during the night and can't go back to sleep. I catch up with stuff on the computer and that usually does the trick but there are times like today when I really need a few more hours sleep. I'm spoiled like Blondie, DH makes the morning coffee but today he's running late and I might have to make it mself because I NEED MY COFFEE RIGHT NOW!

Trip to IKEA yesterday was a bust, the place was a mad house and on top of it they didn't have the replacement lamp bulbs DH needed. After walking around about an hour I needed to sit down a bit but the benches near the checkouts were gone. I'll have no problem finding a place to sit today as I'm going to spend plenty of time sitting by my sewing machine.

Everyone enjoy your day, May in Jersey

Feeling a little empty nest now that Ewenice is no longer draped over the back of the armchair waiting for bits and pieces to be done. I have both cars in for MOT today so not going anywhere until at least one of them comes back, then I plan to go to Bombay stores for some silk. My to do list has the Bronte Country Quilt, the prize for Ruby, my secret santa friend. I also have some Christmas stuff to do and have special plans for elf type Christmas Stockings with lots and lots of embellishment.

Fingers crossed that Mr D will get a bed this week for his transplant.

Good morning all. Happy Labor Day! I slept great last night. My back is 99% better. Just a small twinge every now and again. Going to have to be careful with that today though -- the yard HAS TO get weeded. I will take it easy though. It is a bit overcast and cool which will make it a great day for working outside.
DH will be smoking some ribs and I've got the potatoes ready for the potato salad. Just add another veggie and we will be good to go. This morning we may take a trip over to my sister and her boyfriends' house (when you are past 30, shouldn't there be a better word than "boyfriend") to pick up a tv he is getting rid of.

I did get to play a bit in my "studio" yesterday. Worked on some mug rugs and cut out a bunch of burp cloths. Maybe I'll get a chance to sew them up today. I need to get working on Max' Christmas quilt too. Yes, I'm thinking a timer is what I need for when I'm on the computer too!

That being said, guess I should get moving. Have a great day everyone!

Hi Everybody, my son's family is here, and that means a "cousinfest" 5 kids ages 4-9, they all talk at once so the decibel level is high. Someone said something to me from the other side of the kitchen table last night, I couldn't hear what they said because all 5 were talking in the other room, it is like the Tower of Babel!

We went to a historic Indian site in Illinois yesterday, trying to find something to do that didn't cost hundreds of dollars, but still would be interesting for the kids. The site is called Cahokia Mounds, and there is a large ceremonial mound with 154 steps to the top. We all made it up, but this grandma wasn't sure at about step 50. You can see the skyline of the city of St. Louis from here, including the Gateway Arch, it is very beautiful. We were dodging isaac's raindrops all day!

Cooked for 12 last night, the dishwasher couldn't keep up, so my dear son and daughter in law did all the dishes, it took them almost an hour to finish! Since I don't cook much anymore, big meals are a very big deal and exhausting. But we got it done, and it was yummy. SIL smoked a pork loin, it was great--he is a great grillmaster!

No quilting while the kids are here, everything is put up, and for me, that ain't an easy task! Don't open any of those buldging closet doors, kids, you might get knocked over by the pile of stuff that tumbles out. No, it is all put away neatly in tubs, but the closet is very full! They are going home later today, I'll miss them a lot, but it will be quiet here again, and most of the dishes are washed!

Hope you all have a nice LABOR DAY! By the way, itis 7:23 and the cat and I are the only ones up. That is good!

Hi Everyone and Happy Labor Day!

We are enjoying the long weekend and so far things have been really quiet around here. We've been getting light rain and clouds, so it's been perfect for napping and laying around watching golf and races.

I haven't done any real sewing, but I finally got all the kinks worked out (in my brain) with the embroidery part of my new machine. Now I can go back to being a quilter and work on some of my UFOs.

Monique, glad you are having a getaway and having a good time! DH and I need to do that.

I hope everyone has a good day....stay safe.

Ah, Just finished a big mug of coffee and a IKEA cinnamon bun and feel so much better and up to checking out more computer 'stuff' before I go upstairs to my sewing room.

Jean, I know what you mean when family visit your quilting stuff is hiding in overstuff closets. My sewing room also is a guest bedroom and when DS#3 and family visit from CA I put all my 'quilty stuff' into closets give them strict orders not to open any of them. I save making one big dinner while they are here as they love local pizza. My son usually orders a few by cell phone on his way from the airport to our house, 2 Romeo's large plain pizzas and 2 Romeo's large white pizzas. I put out some paper plates, napkins, cups, soda and water and everyone is happy, even my dishwasher.

Ginny asked "(when you are past 30, shouldn't there be a better word than "boyfriend"). My brother's girlfriend asked the same question as she thought she was too old to be his 'girlfriend' as they are both in their late 60's. I mentioned that many use SO, or significant other. Anyway, she asked my brother how he refers to her when he talks to his friends and he said, "My lady friend". Now that's really old fashioned.

Good Morning! It's a quiet day here and, after yesterday, I welcome it. The grands made it back home to NY late yesterday after an unexpected 4 hr layover in Detroit. After they flew out, their dad learned that the time of their connecting flight had been changed and the layover would be 4 hrs instead of the 1 hr the kids were expecting. The airline (Delta) hadn't notified him of the change even when he called on Saturday to check the flights. DS was in a panic, but we were able to call the Detroit airport and they told the grands about the change. DGS had a prepaid cell phone for emergencies and he called his dad. Everyone settled down after that but we were on pins and needles until we knew they had arrived in Syracuse. I'm not big on flying and the grand kids flying with an attendant is going to make an old woman outta me! I'm ready for a boring day.

Morning to you all.

It is a sad day here on Crazy Woman Mountain. Darling Daniel found Ava under the deck yesterday afternoon and she was barely alive. We wrapped her in a towel and brought her in on the bed and tried giving her some warm broth with an eye dropper. We could find no signs of trauma on her so we believe she must have been bit by something, spider or snake and was sick from it. I picked her up and held her in my arms wrapped in the towel to keep her warm and was talking and singing to her and she took a few gasps and then died in my arms. I cried like a baby. (so did Darling Daniel. Daniel buried her out in "Tucker's Garden" where his dog Tucker and our cat Georgie are buried. The kittens are doing fine. They all attack me as soon as I go out the door to feed them.

I did get some sewing done yesterday though, I got the jelly roll baby quilt quilted with SITD and started hand sewing the binding on. I should get that finished today. Then I can start working on quilting the next UFO. I think I am going to have to get more batting before I can finish them all, but I do have 2 or 3 that are already sandwiched and ready to quilt.

Tomorrow we are going back to Cabool so I will be taking my wall hangings to try and sell on commission. I need to make tags up today. Wish me luck!

Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday.
Hugs and prayers.

A day for tears, a day for laughter, a day for sadness, a day for sharing . . . I come on here and never know what to expect.

Did get a BUNDLE of sewing done yesterday - started Rita's quilt top and I'm about 1/2 done. Got side-tracked and did some stash searching for the perfect piece for my SS (aka secret sister) - found several perfect pieces - some are even yardage that I know she'll love - and then the other stuff that I'm doing some in-line stitching on and using my creativity juices. That's the fun part . . . and then . . .

I'm sure hoping that Daisy put enough hay in Ewenice's box so she doesn't starve on her trip over here. And, I hope there is a potty hole so the box isn't filled with droppings. Speaking of boxes, today is a holiday here, right? Got up this morning and there is a HUGE box sitting in the hallway. Al opened the back door and retrieved my BOX OF BATTING from JoAnn's. If you will recall, the store here would not honor my 60% coupon, but on-line did. I got the Pellon Warm & Natural,40 yards . . . and even with shipping and taxes it was less than half price. I'm a winner and my local JoAnn's managers can take a hike (into the woods with that tramp).

Okay - made a promise to DD that I'd work on Sierra's quilt top today. Since school has started I doubt she'll be able to spend much time coming over to sew with me. A woman up the street from them has been using her as a 'Mother's Helper' and Sierra is socking money away hand and fist. Not a bad job for a kid who isn't even 12 yet. And, since I have the batting, I can get Zoe's birthday lap quilt finished too.

That is, after I help Al clean out the garage - and I just now remembered that I promised to help him.

Everyone have a wonderful day and enjoy your family and friends, your time off from work if you got any, your birthdays and anniversaries, your trips and adventures, your rest and recuperation, and your quiet down times.

Warm wishes, hugs and prayers where required. You are all dear to me.

It has been a relaxing weekend, but still productive. Saturday, I went to our local garden store and bought 4 blueberry bushes at half price to go with the 3 we already have. Then I came home and made bread and canned tomatoes. That left the afternoon for quilting. Yesterday, I did a little cleaning and then played with my quilting for the remainder of the day. Today....not sure. I do know that I'll be working on my quilt some more. It's too wet and drizzly to do anything outside.

I've got 67 Dresden Flower Garden hexagons done and am now hand-sewing on all the center circles. It's going to be a very time consuming quilt, especially since I may do the sashing differently than the pattern shows. Hope to have it done by Christmas.

Have a great day all my quilty friends!

Happy Labor Day everyone~~for me, this is the official beginning to Autumn. School has begun - the mornings are cool (even though yesterday the humidity about killed me while gardening and mowing) - and I have hung up my Autumn decor.

The garden bounty is in the kitchen waiting for me to tend to it all. Green beans, tomatoes, green peppers, cukes, and zucchini are waiting to be put up for the winter stews.

And, for your enjoyment, a photo of my Teddy Bear Sunflower. Next year the gardens here will be full of flowers. I am on a mission to find perennials that scream COLOR!

Today is catching up on the wash, tending the garden bounty, and sewing.

Donna - I am so sorry to hear about Ava. I had a kitty die in my arms too. It is heartwrenching.

Have a super day - hugs!

Hi everone....

I've been busy this week-end working on Mom's quilt. It is in the washer now and I will be taking it to her this afternoon. It's smaller than I had planned because she wants it to fit her nursing home bed. This is the first quilt I've made and put the entire border on by machine.

I won't be doing much else today....hope everyone has a wonderful labor day.

Prayers and hugs to all.

I just finished a huge lunch, roast with potatoes, carrots, gravy, and hot rolls, and it is a great thing, too. The pics on here would have made me hungry! I can smell that bread, I have those green beans popped and added ham scraps while they are cooking, yummy!!! Oh, Jean, our family loved Cahokia Mounds! I hope you did the musuem, too. So many people with so many plans, family events, travel, quilting, relaxing.....love you people!

One of our horses died yesterday, Ebony, a Tennessee Walker. He was 26 years old and well loved, but it is still sad. Praises for the rain, so a hole could be dug! God had perfect timing in this! We got our Cayman Island treasures framed this weekend and some photos mounted, framed, and hung. Hubby has the oak polyed on the new fireplace, wall board up, taped, and mudded 2 times already, tile is in place, drying and waiting for grout. It has been a very productive weekend. Oldest son just ordered a quilt for Christmas.....yikes! Must finish that Dresden top .....hopefully yet today!

Hugs, prayers, and good wishes to all. Make it a glorious day! (yes, I know.....I am on here late....oh, well, seize what is left!)

Thank you all for your kind words. You all have such kind, caring hearts. So sorry to hear about little mommy Ava. It is a very sad thing indeed to lose a beloved pet. She came home to be with you in her last moments, how touching. Now you have 6 of her precious babies to keep you company, hope one can take her place in your heart!

SuzyQue, yes we did the museum. I told my son, I think this is one of the finest and best done museums to depict a culture that I've ever gone to. The kids seemed genuinely interested in what they saw. The only thing sad about the whole thing is that the museum is not being maintained by the state, and is showing some wear and tear that can't be fixed without putting some money into it. Illinois has had its challenges with state funding of a lot of things, so this is sad but not surprising. Still, it is well done.

And, my son and wife couldn't come down a few weeks ago because of of their horses needed to be put down, he was about the same age as yours, a beautiful Morgan. He was one of 4 of theirs, and had many things wrong with him. They were afraid to leave for a few days with him being so sick, afraid of what they might come home to if he passed. They got it taken care of by someone who dug the grave for them on their property, now they have two of their horses' final resting place out in the pasture.

Ah, life. It is beautiful, but comes to an end. Sunsets are beautiful, too, but mean the day has come to an end. But there is always hope for tomorrow. (Strains, of "Tomorrow" playing on the strings in the background) as I wax nostalgic!

Good Afternoon All,

So glad to see everyone is enjoying there day. Wayne was feeling pretty good today so the three of us (Wayne, Sue, and myself) made a spur of the moment trip down to the French Quarters of New Orleans. Walked around for a while doing a little people watching. Ate a light lunch on Bourbon Street made our way back to Jackson Square and then the car and came on home. It was just to hot and humid to spend much longer down there. Heat index was 100 degress and it sure does a number on a person.

So sorry to hear about the lose of a few wonderful four legged members. They all do become such important parts of our family. I know Wayne was ready to get back home and check on his Max. That man and his dog are just too much at times.

Have a great evening my friends.

Happy Monday all!! I love love love the D9 block so much that it's my favorite block to do. I've made several things with this block and can still do more and more. Well I was thinking of doing the Craftsy BOM and watch a few months worth. Well it got me thinking and I took my left over D9 blocks, cut them corner to corner, both sides. Then I sewing the triangles back to a block size. This is what I came up with.

One of my daughters friends like them so much that she wants a blanket made with them. Looks like I better get busy then.
I also made some quilt as you go candy corns and now I'm making more of them. I changed how I'm doing them. I didn't do the quilt as you go this time. I sewed strips together and then cut the shape out after I did the quilting. I still need practice on that but I'll get there.
Have a great night all!

Didn't manage to get on til late this evening. So sorry for your loss Donna, and Suzie. When I had to put down my dog I swore off pets. To heartbreaking to lose them. Went to DSS house for fish fry today and had a wonderful time. Glad everyone else had a good day. Went to Joann and got some mossy oak fabric before heading to kids house. Just got home a little bit ago. So of to bed I go. Need to be at DD's by 7:30, and that is very early for me, lol. I am a night owl.
