Good Morning! While I am not quite ready to be rising and shining, I don't have a whole lot of choice. Saturdays can be as busy as my Fridays. Today will be one of those Saturdays.

Hubby got the annual invite to his big old fashioned family reunion that happens over Labor Day Weekend. It is held about 2 hours from where we live. Always look forward to being around that branch of his family. As with most big re unions, you always find someone else you never met there before. Some very nice and interesting folks. Not sure what to bring to eat. There is always more than enough. Always. Of course, I could always make Peggy's cake. That is the kind of cake you make to get OUT of your house. If it stays in the house, it will be devoured by me.

There are a few members I miss seeing on the forum recently. Deb in Malaga - well I know she is moving to W Va - miss her cheerfulness. Hope she finds her way back soon. And where in the world is our BrittyBoo? That little ray of sunshine is back in school, working her fingers to the bone I am sure. I miss the updates on what she is getting finished at the house.
Those are just two that I have noticed standing out in the MIA dept. Think I will send a pm or two.

Humidity has been slightly less the past few days. It's been almost cool in the early a.m. When then sun comes up, watch out. I still feel like an egg on a hot skillet. In watching the news, which is something I really don't like to do at dinner time, I heard about the W. Nile thing in Texas. And how scientists are saying it was a perfect storm of sorts. None to a Mild winter last year. Dry weather. Above average heat. Recent downpours in pockets. My heart goes out to each one living in the area affected.

Blessings, prayers and hugs to each of my quiltie family here.

Don't forget to SMILE

Good morning...

I'm up early too. I'm going to my first quilting class this morning. It's an 1 1/2 hour drive and 2 detours...I have to detour around a bratwurst festival and then I have to detour around a car show - so instead of my GPS, I mapped my route with mapquest. The class is going to be at Country Fabrics (http://countryfabrics.net/index.html) a wonderful Amish/Mennonite fabric shop.

When I get home I'll probably work on Mom's quilt some more. She's been sick the past couple of days and went to the doctor yesterday, she has a double ear-infection and a bladder infection. It seems like she is good for a few days and then sick again. She has an appointment with her cancer specialist on Wednesday and I'm hoping to go with her - we will get the results of all her scans and tests then.

The cat in picture reminds me of my daughter's cat, with me. Love the pic, Blondie.

Well I better jump in the shower and then eat a piece of toast or something.

Have a wonderful day....prayers and hugs to all.

Good Morning,

It's an ear;y day for us also. We're all packed and ready to leave for a work day at our apartments. We have some new tenants meeting us there this morning for an early lease signing. I've packed our lunches and talen care of Miss Molly's breakfast and meds and we're ready to hit the road.

Blondie, I also miss Deb and Britt and a few others who seem to have drifted off. I especially miss Summer, but I know she's busy with her shop on Etsy and her young family. We all have such hectic lives. That's another thing I love about quilting....It slows me down.

It's time to load up and leave. I wish you all a great Saturday and Blondie, TGIF for you!

Hugs, Barb

tGood Morning All,

Shirley prayers for you and your Mother I hope you get some good results from the Dr's this coming week. I know the waiting is so hard.

Just another typical sat here work until 2 then either a trip to Michael's with Sue she is needing some new paints or an afternoon of sewing. Last night I did get the second cut on Alec's quilt done. This afternoon I need to finish ironing and then start to sew the top together. This evening I am going to try to get Wayne out of the house and go somewhere for a dinner out. He has been so under the weather this week. It has been a rough one on him. Well need to go and get ready for work have a great day my friends.

Morning all~~
I spent all day yesterday working on a Cathedral Windows wall hanging I started in a class I took years ago. I only had the 16 blocks for the background done and 3 windows done. I have been wanting to do a teal and cream C.Windows wall hanging since then, only larger. So I went ahead and cut the 140 backgrounds and over 100 of the windows. Put about 14 of the squares together and they weren't going together too nicely. So, I researched some more and found there are many different ways to do the backgrounds. In the meantime, I decided to finish the small one I started years ago. This one is a white background with 24 mottled/bright colored windows. It's finished except for the triangle sides. Can't get a photo cause my camera is full so I have to clear that out today. Plus I want to try to get back to the teal/cream one.

I also need to make a trip to another small town here to check on a border collie puppy for my BFF. Wish I wrote down the phone number that was posted a year ago - oh well, there is a small mennonite fabric shop nearby so think I'll pop in there.

Next week is my last week that I am off before school starts. Monday and Tuesday will be days I am here by myself babysitting the dog so I plan to pull out all my clothes to go through them and also hit the basement to see what I can put in a corner somewhere in anticipation of a spring yard sale. It needs a little more organizing anyways and so much easier to do when no one is around to 'see what mom is doing now'.

Hope everyone is having a great Saturday.
Hugs,

Ginny B

Good Morning everyone. Not an early riser today. Woke up to gray skies and rain. Looks like it rained a bit overnight and it's still coming down very lightly. I guess I must have been pretty tired to sleep so late. I was up late though looking through some quilt books (Christmas themed :) ) Looking forward to a nice 4-day weekend. I think today will be the day we get the "work" stuff done (laundry, grocery shopping, vacuuming, etc.) and then the other three days we can just do whatever we feel like.

I have been doing alot of sewing this week. I was able to get the room with my cutting table straightened out --- and clean off and organize my cutting table --- and since then, I have been able to accomplish a bunch. I have made 3 pillowcases, one throw pillow cover, cut out and started sewing together 15 tea caddies (thinking of doing a craft fair at a friends church in the fall), one mug rug and cut out half my fabric for a swap. Oh yes, and I did a small jelly roll top. I had bought a small jelly roll to try the jelly roll race just to see if I would like it before I used one of the other large jelly rolls I have. It was fun and it really did go pretty fast. Since it was a small roll, the top wasn't that wide when I finished and I know that I can add borders to it but I decided that instead I would treat it as a cut of fabric and I made my pillowcover out of part of it and I'm going to make a few placemats too. All of this accomplished after/before work each day. Guess I just needed a clean cutting table to get me moving faster. LOL

Blondie, how are your mom and sis doing? Hope they have recovered from their run-ins with those stinging pests.

Shirley, hope you have good news this week about your mom's tests. Enjoy your quilting class today. Can't wait to hear about it.

Barb, don't work too hard. Hope you have some nice new tenants.

Well, guess I'll go get this day started. No working outside this morning so I'm thinking laundry would be a good place to start. And, then once I've got the first load in, I can browse here some more while enjoying my Saturday morning cup of tea. :)

Have a good day everyone. :icon_wave:

Morning, all. Looks like it is going to be a beautiful day here in NC. Eldest (as she calls herself) DD is here bringing us our new laptop. She will stay until later today before driving home to her kitties. We might go to the movies later on--depending on how much time she has to spend on THIS laptop to update it, etc. Worked on a spiderweb string quilt yesterday. I have enough for 4 blocks so far. Going to probably do 6 blocks and border it for our guild's charity project. Hugs and prayers to all. Happy Saturday!!!

good Morning all. Hope you all have great days in store.

I am extremely sore today. Our neighbor came by wanting to know if Darling Daniel could help her husband with a tree that had blown down across the road Thursday night. She was trying to get to town and it was blocking her way. So we went down there and tried to cut it up to move it out of the road but the chain saw didn't want to run. We finally pulled it out of the way with a chain and then came home and got the good chain saw gas and oil and went back. Daniel had called the Electric Co. because there was another part of the tree that did not completely fall but was dangerously leaning into another tree. They came out and cut that one down so we had two trees to cut up and bring the wood home. Oh my aching back! Not how I had plan to spend my Friday afternoon.

Nothing much planned for today except more yard clean up. Not my favorite thing in the world, but it has cooled down some so it shouldn't be to awfully bad working outside. I think DH is going to try and get the gator running today. Our new part came yesterday and he had it running a bit but it still needs some work.

Off to go make a big batch of white rice for TarButt. She seems to be doing better keeping food down now that I am just giving her white rice and either adding a couple scrambled eggs or venison and broth. She still wants to run and play like nothing is wrong but is just having a problem keeping food down. Wonder if I have an anorexic dog that thinks she is fat?

Have a great day
Hugs and prayers for all.

Whew! I have a major problem trying to keep up with everyone here. However, this is going to be my s-l-o-w-d-o-w-n day, I hope. Actually since I have two weeks of laundry stacked up in front of the washer I know you know what I'll really be doing. Plus I have three knitting bags ordered from DD and have promised them to her before Monday . . . oh, and I need to replace the canopy on the girl's AG doll bed that Papa made because neither of them liked the colors they originally picked out. One of these days I'll get back to putting a couple quilt tops together. And if Sis and her DH quilt running all over the country I'll be able to get down there and quilt some of the ones I have ready to sandwich.

Update on the quilts for those dolls - Emily wanted this Owl print which I thought was too large for the bed, etc. However, SuzyQue suggested an applique on the front of the quilt and I had thought of making a stuffed toy from one of the owls on the print. And then, while sewing in my sleep, I decided if Em wanted the owl fabric she should have it. So, I put the applique on the front, made the stuffed toy, and used the owl print for the back of the quilt. Em was ecstatic. So she made the bed up and put the owl print on the top. Gotta love the kids - they do know their own minds.

So, Nana's Artscape is over - at last for now. Little Miss Rita is begging because 'I don't know what you do at artscape.' Momma says, wait until Monday when Little Miss Rita is in for a rude awakening as she starts Kindergarten. Mom does home-school and took advantage of the three older ones being here the past two weeks so she could finish up her lesson plans and get all their books pulled together. Mostly they are terribly eager. As a finish to the art lessons we filled the pinatas (three of them) with a combination of things - a lot of school-related items from the dollar store: rulers, erasers, pencils, note pads, etc.; and some special items for the little ones: hair ties, bouncy balloons, new toothbrushes, fun stuff; and then, at the insistence of the girls: some Butterfinger Bites, small Yorks, and Mini-Snickers, and Bazooka Bubble Gum!! SMASHING should happen this afternoon if all goes well.

What did Nana learn during all of this? That the kids will rush through to finish something, no matter how much you stress the slow-down and think part. All of the girls have such different personalities: One has fragile feelings so be careful where you step, one is bossy and controlling and always has to be right; one is quiet until you are talking to another and then she has to pop in with all the responses; one wants to eat all the time; one is subtle about how she tells you she's hungry; they all are bottomless pits; none of them wants to follow any directions or suggestions; even though the schedule was planned with input from all of them, this one doesn't want to do that project because that one wanted to do it; I want to do this even though it wasn't planned . . . Kids. Would I do it again? In a heartbeat. It will be about a month before we start Nana's Cooking School again and instead of every other week I may go every THIRD week.

Woke up to 45 degree temps this morning. LOVE IT. Now bring on the moisture, okay? I don't think it reached over 75 degrees here yesterday. Love it. Al has been out doing some catch-up work in the yard every day and what an improvement that is. He even mowed a lot of the weeds in the yard - why is it that the weeds grow with no rain and the grass turns to brittle straw?

I leave you because the washing machine is calling my name. May you all have a blessed weekend filled with nothing but joy. May those with health issues be healed, their pains relieved, their joints greased, their coffers filled, their hearts beating to a prescribed rhythm and their lives filled with nothing but good things. Remember, when you get to the bottom of the hill the only way to go is UP!!

I am feeling better....not near as sore today as yesterday...have a spot of laundry in...going up and down the stairs like a little old lady...and I am not that old.....carrying my weight limit...don't want to undo what I have gone through so am being very careful and resting a lot. May go into sewing room today...SO is busy on a yard project so he can't complain if I go in there....I am happy to say all my plumbing is back in working order now....still passing some of the gas you always get with surgery but walking helps that. I am off all the narcotic pain killers...just doing some ibuprofen as needed. It is going to be a long 4 weeks before I can go back to work...I am missing it already....what am I going to do when I retire? Laundry is calling....hope everyone has a wonderful Saturday, prayers and hugs all around for everyone!

Good day all. Will be working on a few more rag purses for the festival and hopefully get the blocks cut out for fire truck quilt that DD is needing for a co worker. Watching the GK's for a little bit this afternoon, then back home to sewing. DD and DS tell me the rag bags are all the rage right now as long as you are using the right colors and prints. Told hubby I may just keep the first one cuz I love it. Have already had a lady tell me she would buy them and in turn sell them in her boutique. Will see how that goes after the festival. Hugs and blessings to all and prayers for those in need. Will check back later this evening.

Marilyn, please post a photo of your first rag bag. Would love to see one. :) I'm sure it's lovely and cute - 'cause you do great work.

Have fun with the GKs, give them an extra hug from an Oma who's missing those warm little bodies. :D

I missed the post this morning. Got up rather late 7:45 and then had to head up to the flea market. Only bought a few books. Finally, got the grass cut. That takes about 2 hours. Went to town and bought some scallops. Had a craving for those. So it has been a rather quiet afternoon. This evening will be pretty quiet as well.

See you all in the morning.

Will do Ruby. Gonna wash what I have done so far, to start the ragging. I am so excited over these, and I found the perfect skull fabric. You know like monster high, they have a pink bow in their hair. Listening to DD and DS tell me what is trending right now. Apparently black pink and peace signs are hot, as well as camo and pink John Deere. We'll see :)

OMG! I can't wait to see it! I have a friend that loves skulls and pink is her favorite color. They sound like they will be a big hit.
