Yesterday was warm and sunny and we visited the little town of Handorf - a town founded by German's and famous for surrounding vineyards, great food and interesting old shops. We didn't have time to pop into the wildlife sanctuary as we were running late for the school run - shame, because this rare visitor was out and about during the day time.

Today started well too. Popped out to the shopping mall as Clive was at bowls and I bought a couple of nice scarves in the sale - 2 for $10, Sushi for lunch (that's a first) and now back home watching the synchronised swimming (I don't know why people are so rude about it - the skill of the Russian pair is amazing). Good day so far in spite of the weather (back to cold and drizzle after a warm sunny day yesterday)

............. The Postie has just arrived with my parcel from M*QC - 2 Jelly rolls, some yardage, 2 plain cream charm packs and 2 Batik charm packs. The day just got a whole lot better.

Hate to sound stupid, but what is this in the water? I'm sitting here trying to decide what is the head and what is the tail...lol...Does it have a beak?

Duck-billed platypus. It's kind of hard to tell whether it's coming or going, but he is looking at you.

Other than National Geographic - that's the first platypus photo I have EVER seen. I have been fascinated by them since first learning about them when I was in grade school. Thanks for sharing.

How did you like the Sushi? One of my favorite meals - but we don't get it around here.

Too cool! I agree with Sandy....I think that's the first photo of a platypus I've seen. Loved reading about them when I was a kid in school too!

Oh I loved the photo too! Not sure if anyone around here has a kid that watches Phineas and Ferb (cartoon), they are brothers who have a platypus for a pet named Perry who also doubles as a secret agent (makes sense right?). My son loves the show and showed him the picture and he too was thrilled to see it and I have to agree with everyone else who posted above. That is the best photo i have seen too. They are pretty cute!

Sounds like your day got a whole lot better once you were able to get your package from MSQC! You have some real goodies to play with now :)

If you are on Facebook - go to Warrawong Wildlife Sanctuary and you'll see a great video shot by a visitor earlier today.
This playpus is called Hollywood and she's been visiting a pond near the visitor's centre in broad daylight instead of the usual pools deep in the woods and after dark!
