As many of you know I suffer from systemic lupus, fibromyalgia, and rheumatoid arthritis. I just have not felt like myself for the past month. It started with tingling in my right hand and foot. I figured I was just having a flare. It continues to bother me, periodically, and the inflammation in various parts of my body, is really starting to wear on my mental health. Last week my knee looked like something out of a horror flick it was so swollen. Knees, hands, and wrists have rendered me practically useless today. Hands have felt tingly, like if they fell asleep. Not really sure what to think. Rheumatologist calls what I have 'overlap syndrome'. Because everything I have is a connective tissue disease. She also said it makes me susceptible to any other connective tissue disease. Guess I need to get my butt to the doc and find out what is going on. I keep telling myself that I am just having a flare, brought on by the terrible hot weather. My body does not handle extreme temperatures in either direction. DH thinks I may have carpal tunnel. Either way, I just need to get to feeling better so that I can do the things I have committed to doing, + my hospital quilts. Thank you all ahead of time. With you all behind me, I know I will be back to my old self soon.

I hope that you start to feel better soon! My mom had RA as well, and I know how bad flare ups can be for her with just the RA, so I can't even imagine how it feels with the fibromyalgia and systemic lupus on top of it. :( Lots of good vibes and prayers sending your way now.

I can't imagine living with the problems you have and so I pray that they can figure it all out and get you back to feeling better. I'm sorry that you are dealing with all that.

You sound like me when it comes to going to the doctor. Don't want to, unless I'm bleeding profusely and even then I'm more prone to try to stop it myself. Don't like them at all, yet I can fall asleep in the dentists chair, go figure.

Swelling can reduce circulation, which in turn can cause tingling. Then again it could be ninety other things as well.

Go get yourself checked and in the meantime we'll pray they can find/fix it quickly, without too much poking and prodding.

(((Marilyn))), poor thing, know how things can pile up and drag on. Prayers and healing light every day heading your way but you need to get that (_|_) to the doctor. I made my appointment last week. :/ Got that tingling in the left arm, down to the pinky and ring finger. :(

Fine mess we get ourselfs into right! lol Maybe we can dip our bodies in a vat of Biofreeze. Seriously though, you need to follow the advise you have me last week. You need to listen to your body, rest and make that appointment. Promise.

Love you, huggers, Ruby and Don

Girl you know you have my prayers! Been there and still doing that! My Dr finally upped my pain meds this week so I can try to walk decent without the foot drop. Although it's not working. I'm gonna call and get it doubled. Maybe you need something too. I hope you feel better and remember moist heat and ice are your friend. (hugs) gently

Marilyn! Marilyn! Marilyn!
You know that I consider it a privilege to pray for my sisters. Truly. Never be afraid to ask. That said, get your hiney to the dr. Sometimes we make things worse by self medicating and diagnosing. And sometimes just the fear of the unknown makes every thing worse in our body and mind.
Love you, sweetie. Hugs, prayers and blessings

Marilyn, I have permanent nerve damage in my hands. They tingle just as you describe, like they have fallen asleep. My nerve damage resulted from not having any vitamin B12 in my body. That is zero. B12 is needed for your nerves, and normally I should have had anemia, but I never did that I know of. I know you have connective tissue disorders, but a B12 test is a simple blood test. Why not ask your doctor to test your B12? It is likely just fine, but since you have the same symptom as I do, I thought I'd mention it. I had never heard of nerve damage from a lack of B12 until it happened to me. I take monthly B12 shots that I give to myself, and will need to do that for the rest of my life as my body does not convert meat into B12.

I'm praying for you, Marilyn. I also have systemic lupus and the hot weather over the past 6 weeks is terrible for it. I've had a flare going on for over a month. The pain from the lupus causes my glucose to go over the moon....it's a real Catch 22 right now. When these thing act up all you can really do is slow down and take care of yourself. I feel for you, sweetie..Hugs, Barb

Thank you all for the prayers and well wishes. I know I should not self diagnose, but having lived with this for a long time, I am pretty good at it. Will be calling doctor today. I know it is probably just a bad flare, due to the weather. I also know he will put me on high dose, tapering prednisone. I think that is the reason I have been putting it off. They also make me feel yucky, and cause me terrible night sweats, like I need something additional to add to my hot flashes. I have a terrible time making myself rest and be 'unproductive', but know that I really do need to at this time. You all all GREAT!!! Love and hugs to all :)

Marilyn, empathic expressions of concern and understanding are sent as well as prayers being said. My DH has a very rare autoimmune disease called hypergammaglobulinemic purpura. (that took me several years to get it spelled right!) The symptoms mimic those of arthritis. When it is hot, especially humid, his legs swell with fluid, red lesions (purpura) that eventually turn brown. The last time he had a flare up (severe swelling and pain in his wrists) the doctor, a rheumatologist, injected prednisone and gave him night splints, both helped tremendously. When he was first diagnosed (early 1994) they put him on an oral medication to suppress his immune system.....it did keep the purpura in check, but unfortunately as a result of taking that he developed non-hodgkin's lymphoma. The good news they found it in the early stages, so with chemo and radiation, it seems to be gone. (fingers crossed) Any immune system disease is awful and you were hit with a triple whammy! So sorry you are having to deal with this. Do you see a specialist? They usually have access to all the new info and treatments. Good luck, Marilyn. The folks on the forum care about you!

Oh, Marilyn. If we could we would all wrap you up in a big, comfy quilt and cart you off to the doctor's on our shoulders. But it's too hot for being wrapped in a quilt and we would look pretty silly carrying you in like that. So just picture all your quilty sisters there with you as you talk to your doc and know that there are many prayers being said for you. You are loved.

Marilyn,
I hope you're feeling better this afternoon. Are you taking short naps during the day? My Dr said with our condition we should nap or rest during the day. Please take care of yourself. Flares are a PITA.

Hi Marilyn, I understand the pain. This weather isn't helping. Blessings on you. I will be saying prayers for healing, less pain, and more energy for you. Immune Disease is so awful, I know, that's what my 12 year old Granddaughter has. Hers is Aplastic Anemia. She is hurting in this heat too. Thank God for inspiring someone to make air conditioning. Would a bone marrow transplant help with Lupus? I was just thinking about that. It sure would be wonderful if it did. Love, Hugs, and Prayers, Jan L.

Marilyn sending you prayers. Have you tried any alternative treatments like accupuncture and chiropractic? I thought it was all a bunch of hooey, but it has truly worked for me. It is not a cure, but can alleviate symptoms so you can manage. You know we are praying for you to feel better soon. Hugs.

Can't get in to see him til next week. But for now he just has me resting. Feeling better since I have gotten a little more rest. Pretty sure it is just a really bad flare. I haven't had one in a while. Normally it is just the fibro that bothers me. But I know in my heart that the prayers have been what has helped me to feel better. Thanks for your concern hun.
