Good Morning Folksies!

I slept a bit longer this morning - all the digging etc is making me sleep and want more sleep. Actually, I think it has something to do with I have to go to the salon this morning.
Here are a few pics.

This is what we faced yesterday morning. So close and yet so far from having all the grass dug up. We worked yesterday morning, finishing the grass removal. I got out my tiller and broke up the ground for smoothing. We then went to Sis's to lay it down. This has been back breaking but satisfying.

After working in the morning and taking a break in the hot afternoon, we went back last evening to rake out the rocks and smooth.

Mom came home from Wed. nite prayer service and caught her two girls in the process of cleaning up the front yard. She is not happy I was snapping her pictures. Tough cookies.

Have a wonderful day, everyone. SMILE!

Your mom looks good, Blondie! Isnt' there an easier way to get up that grass? Seems like there should be something you could rent. I worry about you two injuring your backs.

LOL, it is taking us longer than it would have some years back, mainly because we are taking lots and lots of breaks. The old grey mare ain't what she used to be but we are both used to hard work. Just takes us a bit longer. Thanks Rebecca for your concern and friendship.

Wow - you guys are digging up alot. Your mom looks beautiful! She does look like a spunky old gal. With all that she tries to do - I can see a pattern here - I am thinking that it will be hard to HOLD YOU BACK too when you get her age and your LL will walk around and say he saw you on a ladder or whatever you shouldn't be doing in the golden years, hehe. Love ya Blondie!

Major storms here today - just thinking if I want to drive an hr and a half in them and back when I will see my friend tomorrow anyways. She would be disappointed I might not come today, but there is always next week too. We'll see.

Prayers for you that asked and those that didn't. You know who you are and so does God. :)

Hope you all have a great day.
Hugs,

Monique

Good morning all.

Blondie, at the end of the day, you must feel good in your heart, with all that you have been doing for your Mom. God bless you!

Last night I was missing my baby, so I did a video chat with her. She was coloring a picture which took all her concentration. But I did get to see her. She first heard my voice and shouted "E", that is what she calls me. LOL!! I love my wee girl.

Yesterday I worked on the dp9. I did post pics in show and tell and need your opinions or expertise.

Other than that, there is no much going on. There is a sale in town tomorrow night. This lady is moving and selling everything. The sale is IN-HOUSE QUILTING, SEWING, KNITTING AND CRAFTS. Might be bargoons to be had. Going to check it out.

We did get much needed rain through the night. I think we may get more today. Our local farmers are in a drought emergency. Some are selling their cattle because they can't feed them. It is so sad. We will, as consumers, pay for it later on.

Have a wonderful day everyone.

Hi Everyone,

We are prepping for a major storm today. We have everything outdoors as secure as possible and Molly and I are waiting to dive into my closet if needed. The atmosphere outside is that 'quiet before the storm' eerie feeling. The sky is turning green...this means hail.

Blondie, some of our city sisters might be amazed by the heavy work some of us country gals do. I'm 65 and I still buck small bales of hay, use the chainsaw and stack wood, swing a pick to get rocks out of the soil and drive a tractor. It's getting a little harder to do all this and look cute doing it!!! Such is country life. I'm sure Myrna knows what I'm talking about.

Wishing everyone a good day..Hugs, Barb

Good Morning. Your mom looks beautiful. I am sure she is going to appreciate what you two are doing.

Fresh from the shower. DH said today is the day we are going to town. He said EARLY, but is still sleeping...LOL.. gives me at little time here before he wakes up. He also want to run into Springfield after we get our banking and errands done in town here. At least that means a dinner out! I am sure it will not mean a trip to Joann's since whatever cash he has on hand he will need for his gun show on Aug 3/4/5. Not anything I really NEED anyway. Always WANT more fabric.

I have my notepad holder almost done. Should finish up tomorrow and will post pics. It has been pretty easy so far. So making DH one in camo colors should be a snap. Hmmmmm....maybe I can tell him I need more camo material from Joanns today!...:icon_giggle:

Hope we get a bit of the rain (without the storm part) today.

prayers and hugs.

We are having a bit of melancholy here today. Bethany's youngest foster son Kyle is leaving us and going on to a very unsettling future. We will miss him, worry for him and pray for him. Can worry and prayer go together? I guess they shouldn't. But we love him so. We had a going away party for him last night and he took his chocolate cupcake, put it on his plate and just stuck his whole face into the frosting. We have some great memories of his time here with us and we will truly miss him.

Blondie your mom looks great. I at one time could do work like that. Now I just have to limit what I do because if I try to do it all at one time I would not be able to move for a couple of days.

Everybody be careful in your travels, if you are having storms stay safe, if you are getting just rain enjoy it. Prayers going out to those who need and to those who don't. Everyone have a great day.

Good Morning! Oh, the joys and the aches and pains!! We got a thunder and lightening storm last night and were dumped about 1/2 inch of rain. Not near enough . . . but why is it that my old body feels the change in weather so badly? I can barely move today. Cry baby, my own pity party here.

I know from current scheduling that I'm going to be tied up the next few weeks - to the point I may not have a private moment. Do you ever wonder "WHY DID I PROMISE THAT?"

So, here I sit, wishing I had more of Blondie's stamina and knowing I never will again. Hoping and praying for comfort for all my friends in need, and wondering if I should just crawl back in bed. Oh Me, Oh My!! And then I stop and think: There are those with greater problems than I have ever faced!! And then I ask myself if I've always complained. Smack me upside the head!! S--I--G--H . . .

Wow Blondie you and your sissy really have done lots of work. I'm sure once its done and everything is coming up all, you'll be able to sit back and enjoy the labor of your fruits. Your mom looks very good!!

Well all 2 outa the 3 samples that they took came back good. The 3rd one they want to take a closer look at. I will have the final path report next friday. Thanks so much for the prayers!

Ok I know a lot of you gals don't like tats, but I do. Well when I dress for work they get covered by my shirt sleeves. Well sometimes I choose to wear shirts that have the shorter sleeves and it shows both of my tats. Where is this going you ask? Well everytime I have a shirt on the om makes comments about them. Never says one word until I have them showing. Ok if you don't want them showing then by all means say Paula we would prefer that you cover you tats, I'd be cool with that. Don't make the stupid remarks that you do when I'm wearing a shirt that shows them. We have no policies that ban tats so he needs to just get over it and stop with the comments.

Lots of clouds here, but still no rain! It's going all around us. We haven't had any rain for a few weeks now and its going to be more of the same. I don't know how much more my pocketbook can take with the prices of food going up in the future. Like the saying goes. Everything is going up except the paychecks.

Have a great day all and enjoy the cooler temps and the rain.

I'm enjoying the photos so much.. thanks for showing us your Project. Love that look on your Mom's face.. I've seen that on my own face from time to time.

Huggers to all and know that prayers are said for all .. our needs are all different, but each is so special.

You two have certainly been doing some hard work there. Your mom looks wonderful - how old is she? Or is that polite to ask?
Is that you raking?
I can't wait to see the final results. Here in SC we have the same type of red clay and rock. I would never attempt what you are.

Prayers continue for our little man. He is a blessing from God, who placed him with Bethany. Pretty sure He will watch over him.

Cyndi,
I think that would be the hardest part of fostering. The letting go back to a questionable setting. Wow.
At least you know that he has those good memories of your family and the kind of love every child should have. Blessings to you and your family for taking on that responsibility.
Blondie,
That looks like a whole lot of work! You two don't do anything half way do ya? I am sure it will be fabulous when you are finished!
Sandy,
I know what you mean about agreeing to do things, and then finding out exactly how much stuff they didn't tell you! I am trying to wrap up the loose ends of our last big training event that I am responsible for this year. One more year and I am DONE!
I hope you all find some thing to do today that makes you happy!
Cathy

Good afternoon....

I'm tired just reading about what everyone else is doing (I need a nap now). Blondie...that is a wonderful picture of your mother.

We're expecting a storm....we just had about 10 drops of rain. But I guess we'll see what this evening brings....everyone in the storm's path please stay safe.

The fabric came for my mom's quilt today so the cutting for that begins tonight. I told hubby that I don't need electric to cut fabric. Now that we have a generator I can bring a folding table to the living room and cut - and I just thought - maybe even start sewing. I would get a treadle machine but I'd probably be to lazy to use it LOL. We'll see what happens.

I talked to my mom this morning....she sounds good. She told me she doesn't have cancer and the doctor doesn't know what he's doing. I'm going to the cancer specialist with her next week. Her mammogram came back normal - so that's good.

Eveyone have a wonderful day....prayers and hugs to all.

Hello everyone! I am late today because I di my laundry and some chores as soon as I got up this morning.ni knew I was going to Joann's today so wanted to get my things done and out of the way. I did great at Joann's! I had 1 50% coupon, 4 40%, and a 20% off entire purchase even on sale items! I saved $49 with everything that I bought. Very excited so I am noe going to finish a small quilt I am making. My first "real" quilt.
Blondie, your mom looks great and all the work you are doing looks awesome!
We are supposed to get thunderstorms tonight and tomorrow. It's been dreary all day, very humid too.
I hope everyone is having a wonderful day..good thoughts and prayers to everyone. I'm off to finish a quilt, wish me luck!

Will you people in Western Missouri, Illinois, Ohio and points east please stop hogging the rain? We had the lightest bit of rain fall a few minutes ago, it didn't even wet the sidewalk, just made some freckles on it, and now it is over! We need rain so badly, but it goes north or south of St. Louis, and leaves nothing here. Now, I'm getting sick and tired of blue sky and would like to see a nice ugly rain cloud once in a while.

Sorry Jean.

I'll try not to be a rain hog, but we do live in a temporate rainforest. They called it that for a reason!

Praises for the rain last night! I think we got close to an inch! It is day number 59 in the drought, so this little bit won't help much, but it is a little cooler today....if 95 is cool! I spent the day cooking and baking for a dear friend that just found out she has breast cancer. A group of us are trying to fill her freezer with ready to cook casseroles and other food. I can hardly move now.....but the soul is at peace. Would love to go sew some blades into plates.....but........not sure if I have that energy. Tomorrow is another day!
Jean-----really not hogging the rain. This was our first since May 29th. I hope you get some tonight without the big storms.

My DIL's Dad is in the same place. Total denial. But if that is what they need to do to cope, then let them believe what they want. Not sure at that age I would be any different. :(
