View Full Version : Prayer Request

May 30th, 2012, 11:09 PM
Dear all,

Please keep my mother-in-law Pat in your prayers. She went to the doctor this morning and an MRI revealed a small, pea-sized cancer in her breast. On Monday, she's going in for a large bore needle biopsy procedure, which the doctor has performed on other patients with great success. We are hopeful that, having been found this early, the doctor will be able to remove it all and she'll recover quickly. I know that our Heavenly Father loves us all, that He hears and answers prayers, and that miracles happen.

Thank you!

Meli, I'll be saying prayers. When I was 18 yrs old, I found a lump about the size of a pea. My doctor did a needle biopsy but got nothing. Three days later he did a simple surgery to remove it. Luckily it was just a cyst!! Be positive!!!

tell her I am thinking of her please and a lumpectomy is probably likely if they have caught it early. If not......the One T*t Wonder club is an exclusive one and I can send her details. Treatment is amazing these days, the spare boobs are great ...and useful (I used to whip mine out to throw at the cats when they were clicking the carpet before I got my reconstruction) The thing to do is to stay positive, like I used to say 'I am too big a bitch to die people so sort it out!)

Daisy, you crack me up! And my MIL will definitely appreciate the sentiment. I spoke with her today, and she told me she's actually known about this for a month, but wanted to wait to say anything until she'd met with the specialist on Tuesday. I told her we're coming down there Sunday afternoon/evening (they live about 2 hours away) and spending the night so we can be with her and FIL Monday. She said her other son had the same thought and she told him no. I pointed out that we're family and this is what we do and gently insisted. It didn't take much to convince her. And this way her two sons and her husband can give her a blessing, which will bring great comfort to all. Daisy, know that you and your DH are in my prayers as well.

And to everyone, thank you SO MUCH! Truly you are area angels.

Just wanted to give y'all a quick update on my MIL. She had her biopsy this morning and it went really smoothly. It was a new technique and this was the first time it was being performed at this hospital, so it took a little longer than usual as it was a training session for many of the staff. They gave her a couple of valium and lots of local anesthetic, which meant she was able to watch it on the sonogram. She gave us lots of details, which I'll spare you. Bottom line is they took out 7 masses ranging from the size of a quarter on down. All have been sent to the lab on a rush and we'll know the results on Wednesday. Depending on what they find and what treatment they prescribe, we may or may not be leaving on vacation with them on Saturday. She's already made the decision that if there's more cancer there, she's just having a mastectomy and reconstructive surgery on the same day. The doc has signed off on this, so it's a comfort knowing what the game plan is.

Thank you ALL for your love, thoughts, well wishes, and prayers. Daisy, I shared your message with her and she was highly amused. You two would hit it off swimmingly, I'm sure, as it seems like you both have the same sense of humor and the same outlook on life.

Dear All --

My family and I continued to be overwhelmed by the outpouring of prayers, positivity, well wishes, and sweet thoughts. I cannot thank you enough. And, Jenny, I LOVE knowing there's a candle burning in a village church in Ireland!

I promised everyone an update, so here it is: We don't know. MIL's doc said he'd call her today with the results. She stayed by the phone all day, but he never called. She called his office at one point but only got voice mail. Tomorrow, doc will be in Cedar City, about 2 hours away, so we won't hear anything tomorrow. We should hear on Friday. We're supposed to leave on family vacation Saturday, unless the doc wants her to begin treatment immediately.

You are all wonderful angels and have earned a special place in my heart.

My Sis went thru this... same biopsy... hers was larger.. but suffice to say.. she is over 5 yrs... cancer free... the trick is the early detection for sure.... Relax.. have vacation,, and know that God will bring you thru....

We finally heard back from my MIL's doc. She has Stage II Carcinoma. He's talked her into a lumpectomy rather than a mastectomy, and he told her to go ahead and go on vacation, so we're headed to Oregon tomorrow. I haven't spoken to her directly, so I'm not sure if it's spread to the lymph nodes or not, but I'm hoping not. As always, updates as I get them.

Don't worry if you don't hear anything for the next 10 days or so. I'll be on vacation with the in-laws, the stepson, and the husband.

They wouldn't be suggesting a lumpectomy if it was in the lymph nods....always supposing the took nodes too which I am sure they did.

Takes a deep breath and sends her another message:-

Ok Mrs, its not like either you or I are spring chickens so it won't spread like wildfire......... There is the silver lining to being older. Have your holiday and party like we did in the 70's.

June 9th, 2012, 04:01 AM
Daisy, I'll be sure to share that with her! She'll get a kick out of it. She called tonight, said she'd spent most of the day with the doc getting checked out and talking about the future. Feeling around the doc found some lumps in her other breast. The day after we get back from Oregon (a week from Monday) she'll have a biopsy done on that breast, then schedule the lumpectomy after that. And likely some radiation therapy as well. Wish I could stay home and work this next week then take a week off after her lumpectomy, but FIL retired last month, so he'll be there to take good care of her. Big hugs to you, sweet Daisy.

June 9th, 2012, 05:33 AM
I'm sending prayers too.
My Momma went through this too....10 years ago now! Daisy is right....try to enjoy your trip. you can always worry about tomorrow tomorrow.

Meli, I am also part of the same club as Daisy. I have not had reconstruction, but I have put the portable boob under my pillow waiting for the boob fairy. ***STILL WAITING***.

Things will be fine. They have made great strides these days.
