    Default Pumpkin Smoothie

It's pumpkin season and every year I like to cook pie pumpkins and make smoothies with them. I never really measure anything but will give you the basics of how I make this smoothie.

1/4 to 1/3 cup cooked pumpkin
1 banana (or 1/2 of a banana if a whole one is too sweet for your liking in a smoothie.
A little cinnamon and nutmeg - whatever seasonings you would put in a pumpkin pie. Go light on this you can always add more.
Milk - I go light on the milk for this smoothie because I like it to be thick but you can add more if you like. If you want to indulge yourself use cream instead of milk. :-)
1 tablespoon coconut oil (virgin - unprocessed organic) if you have it on hand.

Just toss your cooked pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg and banana into the blender. Blend for about 30 seconds or until well blended.

When we had dogs I used to put a little bit of cooked pumpkin (just cooked pumpkin not smoothie) into their food. It is very healthy for dogs and helps their tummy. Check with your vet first to make sure this is OK. Also if your dog is on any medications I would check with your vet first before giving it to them - just to be safe. Our older dogs were on a lot of meds and they got pumpkin every day during pumpkin season. They loved it!
