    Default Civil War quilt tutorial

I love the design of the Civil War tutorial quilt you showed. However, I am not a fan of the muted color Civil War quilts. I would love to make this quilt pattern in different colors. Since it is a lot of work and a lot of fabric to purchase, what other types of colors do you think would look good using this pattern? Would it work in batiks? How about small scale retro prints? What size florals would work or not work? Would there be a fat quarter pack that you carry that might work out to make this? I know they use 1/2 yard pieces, so you would need a lot of fat quarters. I will check the part of the tut that showed how much of alternate fabrics to buy.

I was thinking of limiting the different fabrics to 2 or 3...with a nuetral background fabric. That lets the "Color" be the focus and not so much pattern focus. Of course my fav fabrics are the "civil war" ones.. LOL. But why not go Spring!!

I had fun checking out your blog, Judy! Your Sunbonnet Sue quilt is darling! I love the patchwork you chose to frame the gals!

ID:	22210I did this civil war quilt and it was not hard AT ALL! I even found a faster way online to cut the pieces as well for the next one. Here is the link http://www.hgtv.com/video/real-simpl...deo/index.html to the video on how to cut the "Old Italian Block".

Thanks everyone for the links! I actually find the Civil War Quilts interesting but hadn't felt it may be too time consuming. I'll check out the tutorial.
Few minutes later: Oh, I remember this one now and it is something I wanted to try :-)!
