    Question Spring Needles

Does anyone use spring needles? I was wondering if they would be good for FMQ? I found them while out looking for machine needles and thought these would be great for being able to see while traveling. I was also wondered if they have a tendency to break?

Uses: Free-motion stitching with dropped feed dogs.
Configuration: Has wire spring above point to prevent fabrics from riding up onto needle, eliminating need for presser foot.
Troubleshooting: Before using, practice free-motion stitching with heavy regular needle, paper, and dropped feed dogs. Don't pull paper/fabric; instead gently guide it through stitching. Wear safety glasses for free-motion work, since needles often break.

This is what I found from doing a google search. Might be worth a try but I don't like the thought of having a needle without a foot, kind of makes me nervous when they say to wear safety glasses!

Not something I'd be willing to try. Something tells me my machine would probably say "no, no, no" in the display window or something like "CAUTION - attach foot!" haha!

I've never seen or heard of spring needles before now. I don't think I'll be using them either.

I actually had one come with a machine I use to have...never used it...didn't know how...
If you don't know where you're going you'll probably end up somewhere else.
