    Question HQ Sweet Sixteen Reviews

I have been considering a Handi Quilter Sweet Sixteen mid arm sit down machine and wondered if anyone has it and can tell me if they like it or not and if they would recommend it. Any info would be very helpful. I am relatively new to quilting and the HQ Sweet Sixteen looks like it we be very nice for FMQ.

    Thanks in Advance,

    Janice

Janice, have you gone to their website and watched the videos on it?

Yes, I have and it looks great, but I'd like to hear what actual owners or people who have tried it think. :-)

Me too; think I might put it on my wish list....I did notice that you use your hands just like with a home sewing machine...did you notice that?

Yes and I like that you can sit down and quilt instead of standing the whole time.

I do not have the sweet sixteen hq, but I have tried it out several times at our local quilt shop. I liked the way it felt when using it, but am also curious of what an owner would say about it.

Do you have a HQ dealer in your area so you can test drive it and even take classes on it? The reason I am asking is because I have one near me who offers classes.

I've never tried it, don't own it, but it's my dream for my next machine. I have done a lot or research on it and ordered the DVD for it. I think it would be perfect for me, for the space I have to work with, the size of quilts I make and my skill level.

I have one and unfortunately I have not had enough time to play with it. When I did use it, I LOVED it. It's easy: sit down and quilt. When I got mine, I decided to get the TruStitch as well as I barely made it to the "I SUCK!" stage of FMQ with my regular sewing machine. With the Sweet 16, I made it to the "this actulally looks presentable" right out of the gate. DH added a pull-out extension table from IKEA on the left side (I am right-handed) and I have small cabinets on the right for extra storage.

I would buy her again in a heartbeat.

One thing that many users grumble about it the fact that the machine itself sits a smidge higher than the table which can pose problems for using the stitch regulator and some templates. DH actually raised my table to meet up with the top of the HQ16. Others have bought the overlay that is available to cover the entire table.

Are you aware that there is a great yahoo forum for HQ Sweet 16? http://groups.yahoo.com/group/HQ_Sit_down_Model/

    Happy hunting.
