Need pattern ideas, or will the one I have work?

Co Worker, after seeing my latest quilt, asked me about making one for her daughter. She doesn't want a pattern per say. She explained it to me that she wants a plain, not really a pattern to it look. A full size quilt with just a block of solid color in the middle, and then maybe a border around it in another color.

Now I personally like a pattern but I guess as long as you can cut a square large enough out of your fabric then you can do it. I just didn't know how it would look.

Anyone have pictures out there or something like this? And I would assume you'd want to get decent fabric for the center since it would be one big piece.

I love quilts like that with a plain centre but................... they take a s*d of a lot of quilting!

So basically she wants a whole cloth quilt? I have done that, but on a crib quilt. All I know for sure,is that is a lot of quilting. Do you plan on hand quilting or machine quilting? Personally I would do a simple grid pattern for the quilting. Unless you are a whiz at FMQ or have long arm.

I would have it machine quilted by a lady with a long arm. LOL. I don't attempt hand quilting. She just doesn't really want a design in it I think so that it will go with more things in her room as long as she keeps that same color scheme. Instead of being floral, or pinwheels, or what have you.
