    Default Any Time Now...

36 Weeks pregnant now, and I can't wait to have this baby! I've got this severe itching in my hands and my accelerator foot...... Oh wait, that is my sewing machine itch I get when I haven't been at my machine for more than a day! Any chairs that I have to sit me up high enough to sew at the table make my feet swell up like footballs from the ankle down so any sewing I do is in moderation. Which is frustrating because I have a 15 month old and I don't think I will have much time to sew once this little one enters the world. So I've been trying to cram as much sewing time in as I can while I can and so I sit and sew in absolute bliss for hours on end and when I get up I feel like there are bags of water surrounding my ankles and low and behold I've over done it... again. I know my days of having hours to sew are literally numbered (I'm due to be induced on the 19th if I make it that far) but on the other hand if my doctor sees my feet like they get, she will flip. My blood pressure is great, has been this whole time it is just something with the chairs I have. Getting a new one is not an option unfortunately so maybe I'll drag my husbands recliner over to my sewing machine and demand it is in the best interest for the new baby!

Sounds like a plan. Could you possibly have a lower surface to sit your machine on to sew? I am so happy that the end and the beginning are in sight.

It has been a looooooong time for me, but I do remember those last weeks of pregnancy. The excitement, the planning, the swelling, the backaches, the discomfort, the nervousness, the surprise about to occur..........can't wait to hear that your little bundle is here, safe and sound. I know it might cut into some sewing time, but trust me....they do grow up so fast....so don't rush away those precious months and years! This is a wonderful time in your life!

My daughter's midwife (my daughter has seven kids) told her to eat either watermelon or green peppers in abundance when her feet started swelling . . . it helps control the water (but you will have to spend more time in the bathroom). Here's hoping your delivery is sooner rather than later, and other than bringing a new babe into the world, uneventful and pain free!! You need to teach the kids to fall asleep to the sound of your sewing machine hum.

I somehow think that with all the sewing I've been doing, this little boy is going to come out humming! Green peppers would be okay, but I can't eat a lot of watermelon as I'm gestational diabetic. So the swelling does kind of go hand in hand with that but at least the diabetes will go away along with the swelling once the baby is out.

I remember being bored those last few weeks. I also remembered thinking, I'll never be bored like this for a very long time! Good luck, and hope baby boy arrives safely and on time!

Oh you have my sympathy! I was pregnant with DD3 during the "drought of '88" The temps rose to the high 90s in May and stayed there all summer. My routine was to let the kids play in the wading pool till noon, then keep them inside with a supply of popsicles while i lay under the fan(feet propped up)sipping lemonade.

Girl I feel your pain. My last few weeks of pregnancy were boring and miserable. Now I'm trying to finish just one block before my 7 week old starts crying! Oh and sleep..... how I miss sleep.

Somehow, moms live through the process of having and raising a child. Your hobbies might have to be on the back burner awhile, but before you know it, you will have time once again.
