    Ummm....Love you Cyndi!!!!

Sorry - it's really cute now! Oh, and I said the rag edge applique should be flannel but they say the homespun ravels well too!

Can hardly wait to see it finished - no pressure! - take your time - um, hope your applique includes some hearts - well at least one for me, hehe

I agree with the sashing. My opinion would be to use a decent size sashing like 2 1/2". I have not done anything with an applique like what is being described. I would love to see some examples to get an idea of what is being suggested.

Had to jump back in here for a second before the get clobbered by the sandman . . .

Why not consider mixing up the black and gold squares in the sashing. Talk about scrappy. And in rethinking this with applique, the homespun is so prim looking, why not some stars appliqued? It is all up to how wild and crazy you want this. Anyway you make it, I don't think it would be boring. And yes, Kathy, homespun is a natural for fraying. It frays more than you needed, so good idea to have a good reinforced seam on edges if you decide to not bind.

    You gals are too cute.

I'm for no sashing as it feels too thin and the corner stones too small in scale -- think it's calling for some nice big raw edge applique done with some size 8 Pearl Cotton or thick machine embroidery thread.

I could live without sashing, but knowing Cyndi didn't like the look of the first picture, and likes brighter colors, I suggested the gold for sashing. It brightens up a quilt that she was considering putting in a closet. Between the black and red cornerstones, I like the red better, it still adds to the lightening up effect and will work with the fabric she chose for the second border.

I still think it would be great with, or without sashing, as long as the sashing is complimentary to one of the colors in the blocks. I do however still think any raw edge applique, so that it would 'rag' would really set it off. But then, that is just me. I adore the old fashioned primitive look of anything made from homespun. Reminds me of days gone by and absolute comfort.
