Default My Homespun Quilt is Boring!

I think these blocks are very dull together. Should this become an instant UFO? Should I try rearranging the blocks? They all seem to just run together so it's not helping much to move them around. I'm a brights person! What am I doing making a homespun plaids quilt in the middle of a heat wave? I need honest advice. Stick it in the back of a cupboard, keep working with it or sew it up as is?

If it were mine, I would add some solid sashing to break up the plaids, probably a cream or ecru so the colors stand out and have a chance to shine.

Frankly, it does not appeal to me because I'm a bright person also. But I do like the fabrics together and the quilt pattern. Is your heart in it to finish it? Is it for you or someone else? A person who likes homespuns and the country look will love it. I would finish it and then never do another one like it if it doesn't make your heart sing! What about making large blcks out of four of the small blocks and use a cream sashing in between the blocks. I think that would brighten the whole thing up. Or set those blocks on point with cream sashing and setting triangles? Just some ideas tht come to mind!

all it needs is some solid boarder and then a huge applique! Go onto the web (naturally lol) and search some childrens colouring pictures. These are an excellent place to find applique shapes. then blow up your picture of choice, make sure it is a simple picture without too many small pieces. I often take them to a photocopier and have them blown up massive.

Obviously if this was mine I would put a 3 foot daisy on it lol

Im with summer. It just needs some sashing. Divide them up into blocks and put some sashing around each block..this is on my to do list

ahhhh homespuns - i like it as a fall /winter project. i see alot of nice color variations and use in this top - it is perfectly pieced without sashing! Likeyou said though now is not the time of year to be working with this fabric. i think Cyndi you are like me - a bright happy sanguine kind of girl.
imo - stack all of these blocks into a nice neat pile and pull them back out in november or january -

Here it is rearranged with some of the design wall between the blocks to imitate what sashing would look like. I'm liking it a bit better already. More opinions please! I love getting input from all of you guys. I really think I would have just put it away if not for some of your good ideas. Not all quilts are meant to be great, right? I just wanted a cozy lap quilt for the cold winter months that will surely follow these 90 degree days.

If it were mine I would add some borders to set it off and then do an applique sunflower with a long stem and a few leaves running down the whole side in a terra colored flower pot. The bright yellow and green will add alot of pizzaz!
