No Group but the excitement grows...Let me explain...

"Cyndiofthevortex" and I have been private messaging a lot and we even spoke on the phone! I cannot start a group at this time as I am moving by the end of June. ...and I did not feel right about asking anyone else to take this on - I may have put the cart before the horse so to speak, so this is the story.....Cyndi's daughter has 8 foster children total (at this time) Cyndi mentioned 2 of them in a post yesterday and my heart went out to the one she calls Kayla. (She does not use their real names for privacy) I will be making a special quilt for "Kayla" - I have some material and an idea already in mind - "Lily" is her little 3 year old sister. Also, a quilt I have been working on will go to a 12 year old girl, "Tracey" I have been playing with my flying geese ruler (love it!) and putting together a black/red/white quilt, so that will be perfect for her. So that leaves 6 other children at this time. Cyndi has been making quilts for these sweet kids as they come and go single handedly. I think both Cyndi and her daughter are exceptional people and I can hardly wait to get these 2 quilts done and sent to her - I will have to hurry as DD will be breathing down my neck to get my stuff packed up!

This brings me to all the wonderful people on this forum who have already said they would do 2 blocks (thinking there were only 2 girls) To you I say THANK YOU SO MUCH for jumping right in!!! My thought now is IF anyone would like to just do a quilt and send it to Cyndi (I have her mailing address) - or if anyone has any other ideas, please private message me and let me know your thoughts. Cyndi and I are very excited about the response so far and looking forward to a Great Adventure!!!

OK, I committed to two blocks right away Kathy. I'm willing to change that to a toddler quilt for "Lily" as I have brought fabric for Penny with me from Hawaii that I can use. Plus I bought that bolt of batting from Joan. I'm not flying back to Hawaii as the date has been moved up for the kids to move to Georgia. Don's joining me here instead.

Let me know if that works for you and Cyndi. Cyndi can PM me her address and I'll send it to her once it's done.

I hesitate to commit to a whole quilt, I am so sorry. If you could see my work book (thanks to Mr D) you would understand why! However.......... what i will do is add it to my work book and when it gets to the top of the list maybe you will still need a quilt or maybe there will be another foster child?

Thank you all! Thank you Kathy for putting all of this in motion. Bethany is so excited that there are people who also love her kids. She is really touched. When Bethany first started being a foster mom, she was unsure of herself and didn't know if she should take more than two kids. When she was called and asked to take a third, she said she had to talk to her family and pray about it. They gave her an hour since this little boy needed a place to sleep that night. She came to our house and asked us about it. Our then 18 year old son said to her, "A child needs a home. We have a home. What was the question again?" Ever since then that has been our philosophy - share what God has given us with those he brings into our lives.
