Wow... that looks fantastic!
Isn't great to be able to see everything! I also love the fact that I can write the name of my solids on the board so if I run out of one while working I know the color is kona bone. I am going on my third or maybe fourth package of 400 boards. I think I am going to run out of shelves before I run out of boards. I stand mine up like books which my sister who knows I am a book nut finds hysterical. she wants to know why I treat my fabric like books.
Use it up, wear it out, make it do or do without.
I need to do something like this. Where do you get your comic book boards?
That is a great idea to write the color name on the board!

I got them at a local comic book store. a 'ream' of 50, for about $7. I folded the yardage in 1/2 again(folded the selvage to the fold as it comes off the bolt) which made them perfect to fit the 11" of the board. I also picked up a bunch of the plastic covered paper clips and used that at the folded edge once they were wrapped. didn't want to use pins as I figured they'd get snagged on each other. then used a piece of blue painters tape on the other end to tack it, and wrote the yardage on the tape. will stack them standing up once I get them all done.
If you don't have a comic book store near as r by you can add also order on Amazon. I also stand mine up like books.
You're a genius and yet so cheap. 50 boards for $7?!
I love reading hints, advice and creative ideas on here! Thanks for the idea.
I imagine Lawrence has a comic book store. They will carry acid free backing boards and they will know why you want them. If you decide to go online, amazon has these boards in either a 100 or 200 package. They are good. As Altairss suggested, writing on the board with a Frixxion pen or Sharpie is a good way to manage what you have and what you need. Personally, I use safety pins to secure the flap and avoid getting things tangled up. Not the more expensive ones you use to make a quilt sandwich. Just the silver size pins. I use this system for the staples like solids I keep on hand, Grunge, and Fossil Ferns. I cut off a yard at a time when making strips, so I use a scrap of paper when I re-pin with an estimate of how much of the fabric is left. I do this for the things I like to use for backgrounds like Kona Snow, Bella Ivory, Steel, etc.

I found it interesing how you folded them on the boards. Mine all show. I stand mine up too. It sure is nice to have it organized no matter how though, isn't it!
