Here's my tip for the evening -- do not attempt to hand appliqué navy on black with navy thread at night.

Not that I would have any recent personal experience of that one -- nooooo.

I think I need some chocolate.

Today I'll be sewing the binding onto M*
Big girls are coming in tonight not sure what the weekend will bring. It's nice to get a project or 2 done. I need to at least get the snowballs done on sophie's project and start hunting down team fabrics that little bro likes.

    That does look yummy Amy!

I'm feeling a little more human today. Perhaps it's because I was able to pet some fabrics last night while scrap sorting.
Although I didn't get to sew this week, I did get to work on the machines while taking breaks from shuffling around furniture and "stuff" (some of these pieces haven't been moved in years...I'm not even going to confess to how many dust bunnies...)

I picked up another Goodwill find, a mid 70's model Kenmore. Nothing exciting.....just a straight stitch/zig zag model with a roomier harp space that I'm hoping to use for quilting and denim (instead of the broken gear Miss 6 slant)
Well upon inspection her zig did not zag. Not at all....hmmm
So in I went to figure out why. Girl just needed some TLC and some oil. Now she zigs, she zags, and she sashays!

This got me curious so I opened up a newer (2000?) but still mechanical (and cheapo wally world clearance many years ago) machine that has never sewn well just to see what was inside. Holy crap!
And crap is right. Reminds me of the difference between the old reliable straight forward Ford engines..say pre 1980 (like the vintage Singers) and today's current import cars where you have to remove half the engine just to check the oil!
Nothing wrong with import cars, I loved my Honda, but yowsa... I needed a degree in rocket science to even figure out the newer mechanical sewing machine. Soooo many plastic parts crammed in there that I didn' even know what to oil!
Needless to say I dribbled a few drops on what I thought would help and closed her up real fast.

That's been my "sewing" week. A week of machine innards and guts.

Amy- love the tablet cover! Mmmmm, chocolate, you're killing me here with all this talk of chocolate. I've been dieting and so far have lost 26 pounds, so no chocolate in my near future cause it' s like M&M's can't just eat one piece!

I had to do a double-take - thought Amy's tablet cover was the bar of chocolate she was offering.

Easy for me to pass on the chocolate though . . . not much of a sweets person (guess that's because my personality is already sweet enough . . . )

Congrats Cathy!! I like to get the little mini size chocolate to help portion control. I've really cut down a lot though.

Leah, lol you're on your way to an awesome collection :P

Sandy, I usually prefer salty snacks over sweet stuff. If I need that big of a chocolate bar the world better watch out!

I want choc, however is off my food list..... Think I managed to get backing for COC quilt was just not quite enough material so making it work. Hopefully today will feel up to more than 5 min sewing. Its taking a little longer to bounce back from surgery. Then going to get some washing done on anotherCOC quilt. Would like to get them out this week, will see how it goes

I would normally agree with the RoundUp treatment to the weeds along the fence line, but we have a golden retriever who likes to snack on weeds when his allergies are bothering him. Since he already has other health issues (almost blind and a hurt knee), I don't want to add to his issues...

Can't wait to get some sewing in this weekend. I have to get a sample embroidery done.....

Quick, where's Sylvia? Sonic needs the soothing voice and a repeat of the whole distinction between hoarder and collector, pronto.
