Re: WIP 9/2/15 September, surprise! Feels like summer
Hurray! I found the quilt top I was missing! It just wasn't at the same house where I was looking for it :0 I've been sewing a few more HST's and now I think I have enough for a lapsized Jamestown Landing quilt (48"x60" before borders).

Re: WIP 9/2/15 September, surprise! Feels like summer
Few errands, then cleaning out the fridge. Um, a little overdue, gross! DH is good about helping so we tackled it together. he washed the dishes and I scrubbed and reorganized. Now we have little left but at least nothing can kill us now LOL. Will have to visit the grocery store when the veggies are out.
My missouri star is staring at me getting a little upset she hasn't been quilted. However I will be taking down sewing area and moving it back to original room to make room for the 'Fran and Amy banquette project' featuring DH and DH LOL. We will post pics!
Beautiful works ladies.
Lou, my vote is vines and such.

Re: WIP 9/2/15 September, surprise! Feels like summer
Morning all! Fran, your quilt is lovely, and Lourixe, your HSTs look so neat & pretty. I admire your organization! And nice work, Shermur! Finished my rag rug last night -- knit from selvages & skinny strips. The tutorial is from Crazy Mom Quilts -- I should call this one Crazy Claire Knits.
And I have messed around with my Singer some more -- checking wiring, adding some electrical tape for insulation, figuring out what needs to be replaced. DH helped. Yesterday I discovered a teeny bit of lint -- there since the Dark Ages -- in the bobbin case. I can't get it out, but it could be the cause of the tension issues so a new bobbin case seems like a good idea before taking apart the whole tension mechanism. (Have you noticed I'm full of excuses on that one. But no way to know if I'm making things worse or better if the bobbin tension is a culprit. This is an excellent excuse.)

Got up early and went to Zumba but just dragging. Need to get myself moving and go sew together some HST! Maybe clean up my sewing room as I noticed I was avoiding that and I hate to sew in a mess well a lot of mess anyway. So having myself a nice cup of Chai tea to get moving.
Re: WIP 9/2/15 September, surprise! Feels like summer
Fran, that is a beautiful quilt, love the vibrant colors against the white!
Re: WIP 9/2/15 September, surprise! Feels like summer
I sewed on the batik blocks yesterday. Today DH & I went to Hancock's......the batting was 50% off plus an additional 15% off coupon. :icon_woohoo: I bought 6 yards of Warm & White. The sale is today and tomorrow for anyone interested.....sale paper was an insert in the newspaper.
YoooooHooooo.......Carrie J........are you having fun.....she probably giggling to her self while trying out the new set up. :D
Re: WIP 9/2/15 September, surprise! Feels like summer
Wow, 50% off plus 15% more is a deal you cant pass up! I hope you picked up many yards. I bought ten yards the last time I caught a sale over my way, 50% off.
This long weekend the DH and I are doing a little driving and we are actually staying in a bed and breakfast called THE QUILT INN ( in French of course)! Just arrived but there are quilts for sale here and there and two matching quilts on the beds in our room! Heaven!
Its a win- win situation! He gets to take tons of photos and tomorrow I am going to two fabric stores! Gotta love it!
Re: WIP 9/2/15 September, surprise! Feels like summer
Denise, You may not prefer paper piecing, but ya gotta admit there is a great amount of accuracy and beauty to them! COOL blocK!
Lou, you KNEW that was coming, right? LOL!
Fran, Wow, love the colors in your quilt and hats off to you on the hand quilting too! Love it! :D
Lourixe, oh that No. 1 and No. 2 really caught my eye, beautiful! And what a great way to have your B-day candles blown out, what a bunch of cuties y'all are! And glad you found the MIA quilt :D
Jen, yeehaw, glad you got out to the Nut House and got some sewing done, caught up and on another quilt. Grocery store, ehhh, no congrats there, LOL! One of my least fave chores.
Sherri, turned out really cute. Outline the barns, and echo, then and overall on the patches. :D
Amy, I'm surprised they haven't made a commercial yet (for some new and improved product) for normal fridges that need that cleaning out. Ya know, some green slimey monster greeting you as you open the door and do the girly horror movie scream? LOL!
ClaireO, that's really cool. And LOL on the tip toeing around on the machine. I can understand the trepidation, truly!
Alta, love chai tea, but more of an afternoon thing. Good luck on "cleaning", glad I ripped mine apart and put it back together. It made for a clear mind today for me.
Pam, killer discounts there, you go GF! LOVE to hear of steals and deals, and know you're ecstatic over the new batiks project. It was worth the spinning,
Meghan, sounds like a truly wonderful time, love B&B's, and quilts to boot!
Sandy :D, you always crack me up, Howdies to you and Mr. Al.
Carah, where are you girl?
Leah, I'm thinking by October, you'll be busting out some new tops and finishing WIP's. I think you're set! :D
Ok so I didn't really jump out of bed early today, it was more like being awakened by the big mouthed mockingbirds in the crepe myrtle tree, and a slow lazy roll out, stumble to the kitchen (I start coffee first) and then the pup is doing the Macarena for outside. I ran some stuff to GF who's in the hospital (nothing serious), actually it was chocolate delivery and a true cup of java. Hospital coffee stinks big time! Jawed a bit with her, then headed home for the frame. Leader cloths, done, muslin sandwich made and enter the machine. Learning curve for sure, got bobbin adjusted, mirror and flashlight (checked several times)... and had 54" across, so drew some lines and just played and played. Started with cursive e's, loops, loops and stars/hearts, meandering, vines and leaves and then tried a paper panto and used the laser. Machine was on medium (man I love this 1500!!!! She just takes everything in stride!), and just took it slow and easy. Problem one and very normal TOTAL DEATH grip on the handles, shoulders soon taught me proper posture, loose grip and things smoothed out and were much more enjoyable from there. I love the laser, and it works great for those stencils I had bought many moons ago while dreaming of this set up. She got a workout today (as did I), but I plan on burning through all that muslin first. Then sacrificing the JRR tops (as they lay quivering in the bags in fear). By then I can start slapping actual tops on there. 1500 is oiled, clean now and ready for Day 2, Round 2! Used the Signature poly (AWESOME) It's been a very fun day, oh and yes a nap was involved as well. Ice cream is next on the agenda and catching up on the Forum.
