Sonic- How's another day going? Coffee in abundance again?

Granny Fran - I love the doll, I have this idea in my mind of making some memory bears/dolls/stuffed animals from some of the clothes that have been handed down through all 10 cousins... but then I think about all the tiny pieces and how mad they make me, then my brain multiplies that by 5 (all the big boys come first) and I wimp out.... I know I would love it in the end, just like you though!!

Angelia - I am a red person too, and I would LOVE that quilt. I would hang it on the wall in my neutral house that Sandy's realtor would surely approve of... it needs some color!

Carrie - enjoy your 3 days off, it sounds like you most certainly plan on it!

Amy, I hope you are feeling better... I woke up feeling kind of blah again today, but not so bad that I can't function, just bad enough that I KNOW that I will NEED to go to bed early tonight.

I did set up my machine last night ;-) I finished a circle skirt for my daughter which she is twirling away in, and I adjusted the length on our (DH and I ) lanyards for our keychains and ID badges for school. They were from Disney World and they were just too long, so I shortened them up to hit right at the waist instead of banging around and drawing attention below the waist!

I had traced all my pieces for my applique project and heat and bonded them all and cut the pieces when I realized that I really need 5 pumpkins and not 4. DUH. it always helps to look at the pattern. So, right now I'm going to remedy that tracing while the sun is up and the windows available

I am also procrastinating about sewing down the actual pieces because I can't decide how to sew them down. It is all Heat N Bonded... I usually just do a straight stitch and leave a rough edge, I'd like to do more of a buttonhole zig zag around the applique but I don't trust myself to be smooth around curves and corners, and I think it will look bad.... I could hand stitch a blanket stitch with embroidery floss, but I don't think I'll ever get it done if I go with that approach!! I know what I will end up doing but I have to do test scraps and have the internal debate before I end at what I've always done anyway! LOL.

Pouring my second cup of coffee and tracing the forgotten pumpkin and the dreaded letters for the "Welcome" .... but maybe debating skipping the word and filling that space with a vine and some leaves.... or I could just ditch it entirely... hmm..... You'd think that having had this kit in my stash for seven years that I would know what I want to do with it!!

RockinLou, I think there's a machine foot that could help you zig zag around curves precisely. But I don't know what it is called so maybe when the real sewists wake up here they can help you!

Wow, Lisa, Angela Walters and Bonnie Hunter, nothing less! I'm absolutely green with envy!

Angelia, I love your quilt. So bad DH is so stubborn about only allowing me black and white for our bedroom. I so love bright scrappy quilts, and I must keep them for the guest room or to give away,

Greetings to everybody, I'm trying very hard to catch up with all you've done in those past weeks! Hoping everybody is recovering from health issues and family stress. I was so tired yesterday I went straight to bed after work, without dinner. And therefore I woke up at dawn, and today I'm going to REST! Mmmmm, I might do some fabric petting and cutting as well.

As my phone is agonizing while my laptop is at the workshop, last time I could get hold of DH's computer I spent about 2 hours downloading there all the pics and vital info from my phone before it dies. I created a file with my name on the computer desktop to be able to access my things easily. First thing this morning I wanted to edit some pics to show you here girls, and the file had vanished. I finally found it in the computer's trash bin. What the H...? DH is going to hear me!

My birthday was exactly 3 months ago, and I treated myself to a small quilt show and fabric fair. These are the pics of some of the quilts that inspired me the most, that I didn't have the time to post here before:

Of course I had to blow candles on my cake, with the help of my nieces:

    Good morning...
Yes Lou, I have super mega sized cup right next to me. If I could I would just have a permanent line put in for an IV drip.
ClaireO, Molly is indeed a bit of a handful. But a good handful I think.
Lourixe, what a nice way to spend a birthday! They look like terrific candle blower helpers and it also looks like you and I were born with the same hair.
Carrie, three days of bliss. Yay! Knowing you, so many things will get done because you can run circles around all of us. I suspect the frame and several quilts will be finished. Which is good, then you can start receiving all of ours who have signed our quilts up for guinea pig class.

I don't have the creepy crud like some of you, but allergies are taking their toll here. Because of the two straight months of rain, then none for two months, the allergy season hit early this year...and it hit bad. I'm tired but muddling through with extra coffee.

Since Molly is such a hefty girl I spent yesterday tearing up the dining room hoping to make a little nook for her so she can be on a wooden table. For some reason I think that if I move and or otherwise re-arrange the far too much stuff in the far too small of a room, I will somehow discover space that didn't exist previously.
Finding new places to store stuff (in my small house) is making the process very slow so wish me luck in my quest.
I also picked another large bucket of apples so....more apple butter cometh.

Beautiful work everyone! From dolls, to tops, to blocks....it's all so inspiring. I love this thread!
Hugs to those who need it and more pots of chicken soup going out to those who need that as well.
Sonic is learning to sew and quilt. .....

I'm sure loving that flower quilt from the hexagons!!

Started in the sewing room yesterday morning and got a call from the man needing a bit of assistance. By then it was time for lunch and I never got back to the sewing room except to turn off the sewing machine, iron, TV and lights. Spent the afternoon mowing in the heat. Not quite finished but I hadn't been on the mower for several weeks (mine was in the repair shop) and it sure beat me into a pulp.

Today - well, if the yard gets finished I am NOT going to be the one to do it.

    I'm going to S E W !!!!!

I am probably far too lazy to deal with learning that for this one wall hanging.... I was showing the pattern to DH and debating leaving off the "Welcome" panel at the bottom. I KNOW I shouldn't ask him, but once out of 50 times he has good advice....

... then there are times like today where he says "Why don't you find out what it translates to in Russian then applique it on in the Cyrillic alphabet?" ...

... seriously?? I don't have any ambition of designing the spacing or a font for that!!

I have some papers to grade, then I'll have to tidy up the sewing and ironing area because if I leave things too much of a mess the nanny might mess with them when she does the ironing tomorrow. I don't like my things messed around with, but I'm pretty happy to have someone else do all the ironing, so I'll give her back a few square feet of space during the week!!

Good morning all....I got some time in the studio yesterday and was able to get labels done for my last two projects so now I am officially caught up....yay!!! Now I will work on the quilt my DH requested for our bed....he wants it done in time for cold weather so I am using 12" blocks....he also wanted a big center Ohio star.....I have all the blocks done...just need to square them up then I can start the assembly.

Well I hope everyone has a great day today....I'm off to the grocery store!

Ok, Russian, yeah right. I say go with the vines then you can use it anywhere and not just an entrance, Lou.

BTW, here are the pics of the finished Mystery quilt. Hand quilted and done.

Glad it's finished. Now on to quilt the JRR2 that has been languishing. Or maybe until the cooler weather...
