Quilt for girl - pinks of course
I need a simple pattern for a girls quilt in pinks made out of 5" squares.
I have 9 colors if needed.
I made one already - disappearing 9 patch.
Another one is kinda a coin quilt.
I need a third - 3 great grand daughters. :-)
Then I need something boyish. I don't want to make any of them
babyish that might be thrown out as the kids grow up.
I'm drawing a blank.
Thanks for any suggestions. I'm a newbie so it has to be easy. :-)
Re: Quilt for girl - pinks of course
try Jenny's layer cake only using charms...reduce the size of the first cut and cut in half with second cut!
Re: Quilt for girl - pinks of course
Maybe make pinwheels? You could add white in with the pink.
Re: Quilt for girl - pinks of course
x's and o's quilt maybe for the girls.... for the boys a jelly roll race quilt maybe.....kellie
Re: Quilt for girl - pinks of course
How about a sashing each charm with a 2 1/2" jelly roll strip? I'm a newbie, too, and am working on my second one. With bordering, I had enough to make a toddler bed quilt AND a crib quilt! Fast results, too! (42 pack charm. Hate that it's not standardized!)....

Have you thought about doing simple 4 patch or nine patch. They always seem to be eye appealing, and not a lot of cutting and matching. Good luck with whatever you decide. Make sure to post pics of all of them.

I love a snowball quilt! I made this one using the "Terrain" charm pack by Moda
Re: Quilt for girl - pinks of course
I just made my two grandsons each a pirate quilt using the double slice layer cake pattern. Jelly roll quilts are very easy and lots of fun to make. For the squares, you could do a simple scrappy patch array, maybe 7 across and 10 down, then borders around the center part. Look at auntiemern's post the cutest one of all, she used a pattern like that only square, it turned out darling.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have what equals a charm pack plus some. No Jelly roll nor the material to make one. I tried a 4 patch but wasn't impressed. I love the 9 patch I did. Pinwheels and x's and o's looks like a lot of work - the same with the snowball. :-(
The green one was my first and made for no one in particular but will go to my grand daughter when done. It will have another border but I don't have any material that would work and really can't decide whether to go orange or yellow. :-) The other two both used 5" squares and are going to two of my great grand daughters.
Re: Quilt for girl - pinks of course
I just finished a baby quilt for the newest GD. I used the tumbler ruler that MSQC sells and added a solid stripe in the bottom 1/3 with raw edeged flowers appliqued on. It went together so fast and easy.

Marcy, your quilts are adorable. Love them all but very partial to the purple and green one. So very feminine.
