How about a sashing each charm with a 2 1/2" jelly roll strip? I'm a newbie, too, and am working on my second one. With bordering, I had enough to make a toddler bed quilt AND a crib quilt! Fast results, too! (42 pack charm. Hate that it's not standardized!)....
