desperate in Canada
Hi there, I've lost two patterns very dear to me. They're "Glimmering Star" and "Giant Dahlia", both seen originally in Quilt World mags from the 1970's. If anyone can help me out I'm happy to exchange patterns, fabrics, etc. Thanks and hope to hear from fellow quilters soon!

Welcome and good luck with your search.

Re: desperate in Canada
Jeannie, I will have a look through the magazines I have. I have a lot of the older ones I collected.

Also, try E-bay. Quilt Magazine Fall 2005. It says by popular demand and shows it on the cover. Hope this helps.

Re: desperate in Canada
Marti Mitchell puts out a Giant Dahlia pattern, and I think it comes with templates. I don't know about the Glimmering Star pattern.

Re: desperate in Canada
I have the Marti Michell templates and pattern to make a Giant Dahlia and love those but not ready to part with them.
I do have another set of 1/8" plastic templates I ordered from a manufacturer in the UK and a book I bought on Amazon which I could sell: "Quick and Easy Giant Dahlia Quilts". The book comes with paper templates you can cut out or trace onto template plastic. I'm located in Ontario (Prescott).

Re: desperate in Canada
I am glad to hear you like the Marti Mitchell templates. I may break down and get them for myself. I wouldn't make a Giant Dahlia with template plastic as I don't think you can rotary cut with them, but I may be wrong. I believe Marti has a video out there that was great to watch.

Re: desperate in Canada
Yes you can rotary cut with the templates to make a Giant Dahlia. The curves are very gentle, I can use my 60mm cutter. Marti and her daughter have a video on Quilters TV where they make the Dahlia.

Re: desperate in Canada
Thx so much to everyone. I'll see if I can track these down. Already have the fabric and dying to get to these two patterns.

Re: desperate in Canada
Is this the Giant Dahlia pattern you are looking for?

I also googled the Glimmering Star but was unsuccessful in finding that one, but will try and do a bit more searching.

Thx again to everyone. Look forward to sharing more with all of you.

Re: desperate in Canada
I'd be very interesetd in getting in touch with you, Denis. I'm outside of Barrie, ON. The pattern I had was just paper. I sold most of my quilting books at a recent yard sale and some patterns too , by accident. So now I'm desperate to get back into my quilt making and lacking in my patterns.

Re: desperate in Canada
Jeannie let me know how I can help you. I went to Georgian College in Orillia for a year so I know the area fairly well. I have a friend in Barrie I use to visit often and another friend in Uxbridge. I shopped in the quilt stores in Orillia, Barrie and Newmarket. Let me know what I can do.
