Does anyone use design software? I have quilt wizard but there is no modifying the blocks. What do you use if you want to design your own quilt?

I have EQ7. I haven't gotten down all the intricacies of using it yet, but I have the basics, and I've used it to draft several quilts that I've seen, but don't have or don't want to buy the patterns. It's worked really well. It's especially nice when I need to do a mock up for a customer so they can see different borders or patterns. Then, they can pretty much see what it will look like completed.
I have EQ6 which I upgraded to EQ7. I used it a lot at first, but not so much now. Maybe there is a video demo of it. It is a pretty good product.
I use EQ7 and have use Electric Quilt since is was version 4. I love it! There is a slight learning curve with EQ7, but once you figure out all the new 100+ features they have added, it is wonderful!
If you need questions answered directly from Penny, the creator of EQ, there are a few e-mail lists that you might consider joining. the newest one is Steppen on Yahoogroups.co.uk Barb Vlack is also an active member of this list and she is the top teacher for them. The other list that has been around forever is Info EQ and it is run by the people who own the Planet Patchwork site. http://lyris.planetpatchwork.com/
Hope that helps

i also use EQ7 and love it. The manual that comes with it is great. I've had it since January and used it to design my latest quilt. There is also a library of fabrics and you can download more each month. I could even scan in my fabric to see how it looked in the quilt.
I just got EQ7 because I want to make a memory quilt for my granddaughter and needed a good way to design it without losing my mind (I may lose it anyway, but that's another story). I'm very impressed with the program. The lessons are some of the best I've seen -- quite understandable. The amount of information is phenomenal and easy to access and use. I highly recommend it.

I think that is the best feature! I love to work in the same fabrics that I will be quilting with. I love how you can import a fabric and then edit it right there and with one click, it is added to your sketch book!! I have the manual right next to me and refer to it often. They did a great job of writing this and it is like a teacher is sitting right there with you, no some techie manual, but an honest to god real human! LOL
I us EQ7 everyday. I am designing the beginners mystery quilt and have used it all the way.
