    Default Basketbal jersey quilt??

My daughter who will be home in about 4 weeks from her year in the USA, has lots and lots of basketball jersey's.
She told me she was not planning on wearing them after she gets home, she wants to sell some...
So I thought to save the special ones, can you make a quilt out of them?
Is that fabric good the work with in that matter?

Could be a fun project when she is home to go through all her jersey's and pick the ones to sell and to keep....she has tons of t-shirts of teams as well......

We are cleaning out the bedrooms, new wallpaper, new clostets...........everything will be ready for my "little" girl to come home on June 18th!!!!!!
As you can tell.......I can't wait to see her again, it has been a great year for her, but boy do I miss my "baby-girl"......(she should not see this me calling her that.... )

    Have a great day!!!

Klasien, although I have not made a t-shirt quilt yet, a lot of the quilters on here have and have talked about using a stabilizer behind the t-shirts.

It sounds like a great project and what fun you and your daughter will have picking just the right t-shirts to use for her to remember her trip to the USA.

Thanks about the tip for using a stabilizer (have to look if I can get that here) I could use that for the t-shirts, but my main goal were the jersey's (with the little wholes in the fabric) so I don't know if they will work in a quilt.

She must have more then 30 of those..........and I'm sure she will take some home with her, since she was in the basketball varsity team of her school.

They have black fusible interfacing that would work. You won't be able to see through the holes if the shirts are backed with black.

Highly possible, but you would HAVE to use a stabilizer due to the thinness of the fabric, and the slickness of it. Without it would be nearly impossible to make decent squares, and keep them from puckering. I know it will be great when you are finished, and a reminder of the teams.

I don't think I would use an iron on stabilizer that fabric would melt. Instead I think a woven cotton which is what we like to use anyway for quilts - either black or white or even matching colors for each shirt would work great for stability! Oh I know, a light weight muslin!

Do you really think it would melt? I'd definitely give it a try on a piece of waste fabric. Since the iron is coming in contact with the interfacing rather than the shirt it might work. Nothing ventured, nothing gained.
