Default To buy or not to buy? That is the question.

    Hi
It is our fortieth wedding anniversary in November and my husband said that if we could afford it he would possibly buy me the new Janome machine.
The Horizon M.C. 12000. Have any of you guys got one and what do you think of it?
I would appreciate your input guys. It is a big decission due to the price. Thanks.

I saw a demo on it, really looks slick! That will be some Nice Anniversary gift! I have the Horizon 7700, and absolutely love it. You need to get the Janome 11000 owners opinions because I think the 12000 is a blend of those two machines. I think it does everything but cook dinner!

Congratulaions on the 40 year milestone! It is quite an accomplishment. And cherish that guy of yours! He's a keeper, and has very good taste in gift-giving! Generous, too!

I understand about the large financial investment. I'm considering the 11000 SE and haven't taken the plunge yet. You surely get some good input here. Keep checking back...

I don't know much about the 12000 but I had the 11000se and loved it. I have the Janome 7700 and as I tell everyone, you can't go wrong with a Janome. These machine are user friendly hard working machines.

Buy the best that you can afford and then LEARN everything that machine can do.... USE it to the max and for everyday stuff, too. I have a friend who wouldn't use any other machine than a Janome...she's had one for over 20 years and it's still purring like the first day she got it. And she sewed clothing for her 4 children, made rugs, quilts and repaired the farm clothes of her late hubby.

It's a large investment, but if ya get 20 years or more use from it...It's well worth the price. do the math..

I am a Singer Person... I learned on a Singer, My Gram, MOM and Aunts all had Singers and I now have 3 singers... I use the heck out of them all. My newest is still a virgin (hasn't produced or sewn anything but test's stitches) but I'm firing her up to do some fancy quilt stitches real soon. Got 3 quilt tops in the waiting area for sandwitching and quilting.

Judy's right.... Janome i love,,, but spent some time with a Brother tech, and heard some wonderful things about the Laura Ashley machine... with most of the same stuff for less.... do a little research.. reviews on line etc... YouTube... but above all,,if possible have a shop or storefront that can "happily" demo for you and be there for any questions... i prefer to learn on my own,, but would always want to see it run or do a hands on before purchase...

Thanks Guys, yes I have done loads of research on it and I am smitten but there is nothing like the word of mouth. Someone who has actually used or is using one would be great to hear from too see if there are any pitfalls.
It's a big investment to make on a whim, so need as many facts as I can get before taking the step to demo it myself.

I know nothing about Janome but would suggest you go to their site and look at reviews. Good luck with what ever you decide.

I have a Janome Memory Craft 6500 and I have not had any problems with it.....absolutely love it.....have had it since 2004 and it went into the shop once recently for a thorough dusting and cleaning...that's it!
