    Question What is Freezer Paper.....

It might not be the smartest thing to ask.........but what is Freezer Paper.......
Almost every blog I read (and believe me I read a lot of blogs.. ) they mention freezer paper, and I have no idea what that is.
When in Atlanta couple of weeks ago, I forgot to ask or look for it in the stores.
I would love to know what it is, so I can go out and try to find it here, I have no idea and I think it is not something I can find here, but I'll try to figure this out.
As I read it there are a couple of things you can do with it while quilting, but the name sounds more like something you would use around the house..........I really want to know.....

Thanks for helping me out here!!!

Hi Klazien, it's diepvries papier, but I don't think you guys have it at A&H or stores in Holland. At leasts I couldn't find it there last time I was there. You can it on Amazon

    http://www.amazon.com/Reynolds-Alumi...7097876&sr=8-1

or in printer size sheets if you want to use artwork from clipart or Illustrator/etc.

I also found a PDF from a Dutch quilter who explains the situation of "freezer paper" - I embedded in here but if it doesn't work. You can PM me your email and I'll send it to you.

Freezers paper is found in the grocery store where the plastic wrap and tinfoil are located. I think the original use was to wrap meat.

It is found in the isle with foil and other wraps. It is white paper with a wax paper on the underside. It is generally used to wrap cut meat in. You may be able to find it at your local butcher shop there, if unable to locate it in the store.

Hi Klasien.....this is what it is:

If you have extra freezer paper in your kitchen that you want to use up, then there are several ways you can use it for home and craft projects. Be creative and resourceful. Freezer paper is a plastic-coated paper that is similar to wax paper. You can cut it, fold it, glue it, and tear it. Purchase freezer paper in rolls at your local grocery store. It helps to retain moisture and to protect nutrients within the food.

I don't know if you would have something similar there, but like Marilyn said, you may be able to get it at a butcher shop.

If you go to a butcher shop make sure you ask if they have "butcher paper" which isn't backed with the plastic coating like "freezer paper". Nowadays, quilters probably use more freezer paper than anyone because plastic wrap and ziploc bags worked better but for cutting out appliques, you can't beat the paper.
