There is no such thing as a "standard" measurement for any bed and especially for bedding. You need to measure YOUR bed, adding the amount of drop you want all around and proceed from there. There are super thick mattresses with enormous drops and there are extremely tall/high beds that would require more drop all around. Some people use extra thick mattress pads that could require you add an inch or so onto the drop measurement.

Please measure your own bed or the bed of the person you will be making the quilt for. A bedspread normally covers the top of the bed and comes down to the sides and bottom to the floor. Some even have extra length at the top to cover pillows. A comforter normally covers just the top of the bed and the sides of the top mattress. With these a bedskirt is normally used. If you are making a quilt for your bed, take your own measurements so you won't be disappointed with the end result.....
