Default Using shelf lining for appliques

I am looking for the information that was posted a couple of weeks ago regarding using contact paper to do appliques? I wanted to try it but I can't find the infor on the person that posted it to read how exactly she did it, tks for your help.

It was me. What would you like to know? You cut out shapes with the Contac paper and then stitch around the OUTSIDE of the shape, going very slowly. Then, just peel it off, reposition and stitch again. This was from the book, Foolproof Machine Stitching. Just let me know if you have any questions!

*raises hand* I have a question!

Do you mean stick the contac paper to the fabric, cut out, sew around the outside of the contac paper, then remove contac paper for re-using with next piece?

Ok...you have your quilt all ready to quilt. You trace/draw/copy a design ONTO the Contac paper (for example, I used my Cricut die-cutting machine to cut out a shape directly on/using the Contac paper.) Then peel the contac paper and stick it onto your quilt (for instance, a 6" flower shape of contac paper onto a 6" square on your block). Then, using the walking foot, stitch around the perimeter of the contac paper - NOT HITTING THE CONTAC PAPER TEMPLATE). Finish stitching. Remove sticky contac flower and reposition on your next 6" block. stitch again. Does that make it more clear, Cathryn? You can search my name or the Foolproof Machine Quilting thread for more information. I will also have a blog post all about it on May 23rd at http://www.overthekitchencounter.com if you have any other questions, please feel free to ask! It's just a tidy, cool way to quilt interesting designs using a walking foot...and super easy when you use contac paper so you don't have to pin the design to the quilt!

Yes! Thanks so much for clarifiying!

I did understand your original posts about quilting designs (although you just made it crystal clear for me- which I do appreciate!). When in THIS thread the question was about applique, I thought you were talking about applique with contac paper. :-)

Cathryn, I didn't even NOTICE the applique part! lol! So maybe it wasn't 'me' after all!?!?!? The Contac paper method I described was for the quilting, not applique! Hope I didn't confuse anyone!
