Default You make a quilt or two and this is what happens....

Once word got out (and pictures!) family members are making requests. I need help/advice!

My nephew collects REAL football jerseys. The really pricey ones.He recently lost a bunch of weight and wants me to take the jerseys that no longer fit him and make him a quilt using the numbers and names on them. Any ideas on how to do this? This one kind of scares me a little, not gonna lie!

My son has ALL his tshirts from different sports teams he played on from first grade to high school. It's a huge tub of shirts! He wants a quilt made out of these.....help!

Any ideas/suggestions/links to helpful websites would be greatly appreciated! Please?! I'll be your best friend....

    Libby,

There's a tutorial here at MSQC showing how to make T-shirt quilts...it will give you some good ideas. I've never made one, but there are several here who have and I'm sure they will have ideas for you.

    Hope this will help you

God, Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
The stash to make a quilt to help me cope,
A quilt to give to comfort those I love in times of hurt, fear and uncertainty.
And the courage to keep on sewing when life itself seems held together by a single thread of hope.

I think that's really sweet that they WANT you to make them quilts! And they do turn out great - what an awesome memory/souvenir gift! I'm sure you will handle it and please share the photos before you give them away! Good luck!

The one thought I had when reading your message ... be VERY careful on those football jerseys. I don't think you should hit them with the iron because if they are the type fabric that I am thinking of, they might melt. Otherwise a t-shirt quilt will work fine. Just watch that iron!

Here are 2 T-shirt quilts that I made to raffle off at our school to help a teacher who has cancer.

Would think you would have to use stabilizer on either, T-shirt or jerseys. Warn them ahead of time, that you will not be responsible for any damage to their precious shirts. lol. You have enough experience to make this work. I would be more worried about being careful cutting than ironing. good luck and make sure to post pics as you go along.

I have done two for my future DIL. Waiting to get the t shirts from both her and DS from their cheerleadings years at college for the (i hope)last one. It's not hard, just not as creative as I like. But she really appreciated them both.
