Hand quilting thread issues

Tks for the info and I was going to call Calico Cat I did manage to find my quilting hoop there a good one. I am dying to take classes on how to make the Hawaiian quilts can you suggest where to go other than Kimokee Dry Goods I know they have classes a little bit expensive though.

Sandy, let me know if you find it here on the island 'cause I haven't. I have bee's wax which is ok from FabricMart but Thread Heaven I haven't seen at FM or BF. Maybe Calico Cat?

Also, watch how you use your thread when you sew. The end you pull off the spool should be the end you put through your needle, something about how it's wound on the spool and the fibers and all that.
I use Coats and Clarks hand quilting thread also.

There's a group of old, old true Hawaiian ladies that meet here in Makaha Valley that make the traditional hand quilted patterned quilts. I haven't gone yet as it's so labor intensive and I'm thinking what in the world would I have to sell it for and to whom. lol I would need the whole new $$$ cash flush market. hahaha. I'll see if I can go this week if not next week, my local friend will need to bring me in for the first visit. They will teach you all the "right" traditional ways by Aunties. Many books are "wrong" I've been told, my friend took a couple of my quilts to them. "Lovely, but I'm wasting my talents." Got to love them right?!?

I'm sure they would have relatives or now of a group in the Honolulu area for you to visit. It's all about referrals as you know.
