UPDATE: Well.... What do you think?
I wanted to give all who commented on my previous thread asking about sashing colors and layout an update. Here it is:
Since I last posted I have changed the center color on all blocks to match the background material. I decided that a solid color for sashing was pulling it down, if you know what i mean so i went with Dogwood Trails in the white/pink to go with the Dogwood Trails that is in the block but in different colors. Now if you don't remember this. it happened to be a much larger quilt when i started, but the timeline is looming and decided to make it a lap quilt instead of a bed quilt.
I just wanted to say "THANKS" for everyone's input, help and most of all encouragement, Now on to the next decision of backing.....and yes ladies the little voice in my head is screaming MAY 10TH, MAY 10TH.
thanks again

Sasha this is for a teacher who is retiring after 30+ yrs of teaching and school ends soon. I guess i could get it to her after but i don't think it would be the same.

Re: UPDATE: Well.... What do you think?
Gorgeous, Kelli! Love the softness of the pink. Do you think you will use a darker color for the backing/binding....using a shade of the blue in the dresdens? She is gonna love it!

Cynthia i was just thinking that this morning... I think if i back it in pink it will be tooo much... now to decide what type of fabric, fleece, cotton, or flannel. I have never worked with flannel and don't know if i want to chance it on this but it is a thought. kellie
Re: UPDATE: Well.... What do you think?
Yes I agree, Perhaps a blue backing would be nice . I've used flannelette as a backing, which I believe is called flannel in the US, and had no problems. It makes the quilt cuddlier on cold nights. I did prewash the flannel of course...but didn't toss it in the dryer which usually makes it softer which is nice, but it ends up looking used... Just my experience. You've done a wonderful job. I went back to your earlier photo and your changes made all the difference. Lovely choice of,fabrics...
