Default Pinwheel block...now how to assemble? Help!

I'm doing just a lap size quilt..using the pinwheels to make an 8" block. Colors are sage green with tiny pink flower buds (similar to a calico print style) and matching sage green solid. Pinwheels are the print. I have them made, but...can't think of the sashing or other attaching colors to assemble the quilt! Any suggestions? Finished size about 45x45. I know to use a pink but..I don't want it to be the outstanding color so that pink is all you see. And I can't "see" any other color to go with it, but my problem, no matter the craft medium, is matching colors.

Got any suggestions or pics of what you have done? Thanks so much!

Sage and pink are naturals together...if you want to use pink try to find a fabric that has a soft pink print. Yellow also looks great with sage. Don't try to "match" the fabrics...rather, look for something that will blend with your other fabric.

I'll throw a violet/purplish/blue family out there, maybe for a thin sash before a binding with your primary colors, or use it as the binding. BUT, i'm the one that has to hold everything up next to each other and see it in action and even then I sweat it out!

How about a green that is about two or three shades darker than the main green color.

I would likely use a thin rose color sashing and first boarder. Then I would take the pinwheel print and make a wider outside boarder. I bet the suggestion for a violet/purplish/blue family sashing would be very pretty, and it can be a little wider if you don't mind it being prominent.

I always read posts about color and matching....or blending ...etc.... because though I love color, I struggle to 'see' what looks best sometimes. So thank you for your insight....it's helping me too.....

Pat, I just love your quilt! I was thinking of suggesting brown. It would go with both the sage green and the pink.

Thanks everyone. I am terrible with putting colors together. DOn't know why.. I've been sewing or crafting something size I was age 8 but to this day (oh, so many days later!!!) I still can't put color together. I don't have anymore of the fabrics I used for the pinwheels left. So that sage and sage print are the pinwheels ONLY. I dont' even like pink so maybe I'll go with the browns and purples..and maybe maroon. I hate this part of quilting!!!!!! I guess a trip to the fab store is at hand.

Mimi your quilt is great! Very pretty! Some day maybe I"ll be that good! But the browns and pinks look great! I wouldn't have thought to put them together.
